Common Questions and Answers about Switching from ortho evra to the pill

ortho-evra

Avatar f tn I have been on Ortho Evra for a year now. I have been diagnosed with PCOS, although, aside from being irregular I haven't ever had any other symptoms with it. I went on Ortho Evra because I was really anemic, and the irregularity was annoying me, so the patches fixed both. I loved it up until the past month or two when I started noticing that I'm becoming crazy. Slowly I've become really paranoid and been thinking really morbid things.
Avatar f tn I am currently on the implanon but will be switching to the ortho evra patch . What are some thoughts or opinions on this birth control ? Is there anything bad you experienced or maybe some good effects to it ? ADVICE ?
Avatar f tn I have not been able to find any reference to ortho evra on the web. If you have got this off the web yourself, this may not be a genuine or safe product for you to use. I suggest that you read the instructions that you should have got with the packet and follow it exactly.
Avatar f tn Ortho Evra®, Ovcon® 35, Ortho Tri-Cyclen®, Othro-Cyclen®, Necon® 1/35, Alesse®, Levlite®, Tri-Levlen or Trivora.
Avatar n tn I just finished my first three weeks of Ortho Evra. I've now had the patch off for 6 days and have not started my period. Is this normal? I had a pap smear and internal exam done 4 days ago...would my doctor have been able to tell if I were pregnant?
Avatar n tn I was on Ortho Evra (the patch), but I have been lucky enough to conceive on the first cycle. However---- this doesn't happen for everyone, so don't get your hopes up too high on conceiving right away. It may take a few months. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Another detail that might help I am going to the bathroom every day normal color but not the same consistency. I am worried. Please help!
364288 tn?1300144506 I use the patch, Ortho Evra. My doc tried to discourage me from it because of the risks, but since I have none of the risk factors (age, smoking) I went ahead. Besides, doesn't the pill have similar risks?? Anyway, I cannot remember to take the pill either, LoL, the patch is easy to remember because by day 7 it is falling off-- time to change!
Avatar f tn I do have a friend that was on NuvaRing and I know she liked it, her only complaint was it felt funny during sex, it would become dislodged and her boyfriend was able to feel it. If it does happen to fall out, in the toliet for instance, you are just supposed to rinse it off and put in back in place! Too weird for me!
720228 tn?1530911279 I have been on the Ortho Evra patch since Jan. 2012. My patch fell off about two weeks ago and then I started my cycle. After that week I put a new patch. This week on Wednesday my husband said that I should change my patch cause it looks like it might come off but I didn't do it until Thursday because that is my normal day to change the patch. On Friday I was spotting a little bit. I figured that my patch came off or was not on good enough. Now it is Sunday and my cycle has not started.
Avatar f tn if i changed from the pills to the ortho evra patch two weeks go nd i had spotting today and in te middle of he night can it be that im pregnan....
7019649 tn?1396792517 I know I have a while before I decide, but I'd like to start looking at my options now. I didn't do well with the pill. It had very negative side effects for me, so I'm thinking I want to do something that isn't hormonal. My mom got a Mirena and had to have it surgically removed because it migrated, so I'm scared to death of those things, too. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Hello, All your symptoms are the side effects of the birth control ortho evra patch. The Ortho Evra birth control patch releases a high amount of estrogen into the bloodstream—60% more than from birth control pills—which is known to increase the risk for blood clots. These blood clots occlude the blood vessels as thrombi and if they get dislodged and occlude the blood vessels at some other site, they are called emboli.
Avatar m tn I've just recently switched from Ortho Tricyilin to Yaz. I'm supposed to take my last placebo pill tonight but I still haven't gotten my period. I was a bit late taking one pill but it was only 90mins. I don't use any back-up methods and I have never missed a pill. Could I be pregnant just from switching pills?
Avatar n tn I am 19 years old and I am using Ortho Evra patch for contraception and I have been for five months. I have never been pregnant before, but I am beginning to think I have some symptoms even though I have NOT missed or had any late/irregular periods. -I've been feeling a pulse in my stomach especially when I lay down and press on the mid part of my stomach just above the belly button.
Avatar f tn So, I started taking Ortho Evra back in 2002 to regulate my cycles, I took it for a couple of years and it worked just fine. I wasn't sexually active so I wasn't needing it to prevent pregnancy. I stopped taking it in 2006. My cycles had been pretty irregular, they were all over the calendar, but this last 10 months, they had been particularly bad, every 20-22 days.
Avatar f tn I am on the ortho evra patch. I mistook my 3rd week as my patch free week. I had sex before the mistake. But no it's been over a week and still no period. Am I pregnant?
Avatar f tn we instantly ran to the store i took plan b within 30 minutes. Im on the birth control patch, Ortho Evra. i am supposed to get my period either today or tomorroe and still nothing. i need some advice, im stressing.
Avatar f tn This will keep your blood sugar levels more stable and energy level higher. I would talk to your doctor about switching to a different pill. My new ones are Loestrin 1.5.
Avatar f tn When I was 18 I finally got on birth control to regulate it. I started on Ortho Tri Cyclin and then switched to Ortho Evra. I was on Ortho Evra for about 5 years and had no difficulties with it and my period became normal. I stopped taking all birth control in August of 2008. I was expecting to have an irregular period again, but it is much worse. On average I've been getting my "period" about every two months, but I bleed much more than that.
Avatar f tn we instantly ran to the store i took plan b within 30 minutes. Im on the birth control patch, Ortho Evra. i was supposed to get my period and still nothing. i need some advice, im stressing. so my question, how effective is plan B after 30 minutes after sex?
Avatar f tn I took ortho evra for about 4 years and had irregular periods for about a year after i stopped. We have now been ttc for 2 years and are finally seeing a RE next week. My dr gave me progestin pills to help regulate my periods and when that didnt work i took clomid. that did regulate them. I blame my infertility on the patch even though my dr swears it is not to blame. Good luck! Happy to answer any other questions. Maybe my experience can help.
Avatar n tn I'm on the ortho evra patch and I always put it in the same spot. I got a rash in that spot so I moved my patch and that week with the patch on I started my period as I would when not wearing it. I was on it that full time then I took my patch off for my actual period week and was still bleeding. So a total of two weeks on my period. Is this normal when moving the patch to a different part of the body?
778044 tn?1299542934 I have a question for anyone using the Ortho Evra Patch to help control their endometriosis. It says right on the box that you are exposed to 60% more estrogen using the patch then other birth control pills. Since estrogen "feeds" endometriosis, how does this make sense? I have been advised by my doctor after 6 months of Lupron injections, to use the patch consistantly (not having a patch off week and not getting a period) until we are ready to get pregnant.
Avatar n tn i am on the birth control pill and my period has started without stopping taking pill. is there any way i can stop it asap??
