Avatar n tn My dad, 78 years old, lives on his own, has always been very active, tennis and walking, had prostate surgery about 4 weeks ago; the other morning he tried to stand up and fell down, he was taken to emergency room and then admitted to hospital - they still haven't determined medical problem and he still cannot walk - they want him to start physio, however, he says he cant walk - it's his right leg - he has a pain in his lower back down the back of his leg to his knee.
Avatar m tn Put those two things together and what is PROBABLY going on is, subsequent to being shot and going through what must have been a horrendous operation, not to mention quite risky considering how close the wound was to your spine, this created a bunch of swelling, which is very typical after an operation of any kind and can go on for MONTHS, and this swelling will block normal fluid passing in and out of your legs, and will block transmission of nerve impulses since it's undoubtedly pushing
Avatar m tn OMG I have been threatened with knee surgery. both knees hurt like the dickens even when i am laying down. I have refused the shots in the knees (can't imagine letting them do that to me) they are both swollen right now along with my fingers and elbows. I cn't even imagine being in your position. sometimes i think the doctors are jaded. When I broke my tailbone the dr.
Avatar n tn all three operation took between 8-10 weeks before normal-swelling is main thing to keep down and rebuilding knee strength,
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
Avatar f tn t honestly know if that is an emergency or not. With no swelling, signs of infection or pain, it is a very odd thing. I would say the best thing you can do, is take her as soon as possible to get this checked, and maybe don't wait for your scheduled appointment next week.
Avatar m tn Hi! About 9 days ago I got a MCL (medial ligament) sprain on my left knee, doing sports, i'm in my mid 30s. Minor swelling and some pain to knee. The knee started feeling around 80% better about 3 days ago. I wore knee brace every day even to sleep, 2 days ago I changed to a more comfortable brace with those metal hinges on sides, also slept with it. My current issue/question, is 2 days ago I woke up with a swollen ankle and pain when putting leg down to walk.
Avatar m tn I will start taking them soon and hopefully I will see an improvement there after. I am feeling a little more upbeat today and have decided not to let this thing pull me under. I will start swimming and stationery cycling on Monday to try and strenthen the area. Many thanks again.
Avatar m tn After three years of chasing down the source of leg and foot pain and one back operation, I am told that my problem may be in the knee. The good news is that the doctors seem to have found a bone growth which is pushing on the peroneal nerve . A nerve block is scheduled to further confirm that hypothesis. The bad news is that the knee orthopedic surgeon says that he is nervous about operating in the popliteal cavity with its mess of nerves and blood vessels.
Business woman2 16 months ago, and after the operation had residual pain. Not wanting to accept the fact that the knee would NOT be 100% even AFTER the meniscus-repair operation, I started taking 4 standard OTC ibuprofen tablets in the morning, and they worked just fine until 1pm or so. Then in THIS forum, I learned about the "life time dose" of NSAIDS (search "jabotlol" in this forum's search box), and I got worried.
Avatar f tn I am trying to reduce the swelling in my knee. I had surgery 11/10/10, and have had some success with PT and TED hose, but need to get the rest of the swelling down because it is impeding my ROM. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn As for swelling in your foot, that could come from the swelling in your knee draining down into your foot due to gravity. Any swelling will make the swollen area tender, even if it's not the injured area. You will probably experience swelling in your knee for a while. Do you keep it elevated at all? You should try to elevate it - above your heart when possible (like when you sleep) - that should help the swelling. You haven't had much recovery time yet.
Avatar f tn After almost a month, it didn’t seem as if the inflammation was going away as we had expected it to. We went to his 6-week post operation appointment with his ortho surgeon & he still didn’t seem too concerned about this swelling, but went ahead and ordered an vascular ultrasound just to rule out a blood clot. Went & got that test done, everything looks great, nothing to worry about with a blood clot.
Avatar m tn ) Patella, which was an injury to the cartilage in the knee. Surgery took care of it mostly and after about 8-9 months after surgery I was almost as good as normal. Still have discomfort(on a small scale compared to before) from time to time, but nothing requiring even an ibuprofen to deal with. Hopefully, yours is as easily dealt with. My well wishes and respect to those still serving in the sandbox and beyond. Coming, for what its worth, from a Med Retired USN..You all do Us proud.
Avatar f tn 7 months back Ortho Doctor advised for knee replacement(TKR) and admitted to hospital but because of hard swelling in right side of the knee they did a small operation and removed the the hard swelling. It got some infections and because of Diabetes it took long time to heal and Ortho doctors are not giving care for healing the wound. The joint pain got increased and my father is not able walk at all. We went and consult a General Medicine who is specialist in diabetes care.
Avatar n tn I now have mild swelling legs below my knee. I still can feel sharp pain going up or down staircase. I cant even squat as the pain is sharp and I just don't like it. Any one who can tell me if this is normal after the arthroscopy ?
Avatar f tn I had knee surgery about a month ago but I just noticed swelling in my knee, leg and foot what can i do to keep the swelling down?
Avatar f tn 3 weeks ago I hyperextended my left knee. It hurt immediately with a pop, but soon felt better. 3 days later I could barely walk and it hurt to do anything but lay on my right side in a fetal position. A small amout of blood pooled in my ankle while the back of my knee became swollen. I did a week of rest, ice and elevation and saw a tad bit of improvement. (All the while waiting for my Primary appt.) Today I have a 4 inch knot in my calf muscle, about half way down the back of my leg.
Avatar f tn on crutches for a week. Swelling, some pain etc. After a week (did not have MRI yet) she was walking, swelling was gone and seemed to have full range of motion back to her knee. Since then she has been playing only school basketball(less intense play) but favours the other leg when doing lay ups and can not run at full speed. Doesn't have pain she says, there is no swelling but I think she is worried about re-injury and therefore plays cautiously which is a good thing.
418466 tn?1207114132 Do NOT attempt to remove this drain by yourself. I can understand another vet wanting the surgical report, but it shouldn't stop them from treating your dog. That doesn't sound right to me at all. If you're having problems finding a competent vet, you could try starting with your local SPCA or Humane Society. Explain the situation to them and I'm sure they'll come up with a vet who will happily get this thing safely out of your dog's ear.
