I never had major bad side effects on it. I did have some crazy dreams and still do. After I was on it for a couple years, things began to slowly deteriorate. I began getting panic attacks, and bouts of tachycardia and palpitations. I had a history of those but it seemed to get worse. I also noticed problems sleeping, which I still have, and just this jittery feeling that never seems to go away.
3 days later my doctor switched me from Sustiva/Combivir to Kaletra/Combivir. A few days after that I began to develop a mild sore throat and a quarter size rash on my penis. On July 24th I got a Stat-Pak HIV test at a clinic which came back negative. By July 30th, 2008 (maybe a few days earlier) I developed a small quarter size rash on my right foot but this rash was nothing at all like the rash on my penis a few weeks earlier.
bluish discoloration of the fingers/toes/nails, severe tiredness, mental/mood changes (e.g., depression, confusion, memory problems), numbness/tingling, decreased sexual ability, trouble breathing, swelling of the feet/ankles, vision changes, unexplained/sudden weight gain.
What r the treatment my doctor said IV.but I C where there's pills so confused and really wish I knew what my numbers match.Thank you.
It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.
Never hurts to tell your doctor, but i wouldn't be worried sounds like normal side effects to me........ Best to you going forward.
I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. I wouldn’t be shy about discussing any problems you’re experiencing with your doctor; IFN has a rather extensive side effect profile, so your doctor shouldn’t be surprised it you’re having some problems with side effects.
It’s so important to make yourself as comfortable as possible, to give you the best shot of success.

sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP!
Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Yes, I've only been on it a week and I experience the muscle aches and bilateral flank pain as well. In addition, insomnia!
I am in week 4 of the Olysio/Sovaldi combo therapy and am disappointed at the side effects I'm experiencing. Prior to starting the treatment I was very encouraged by what I was finding on the boards, especially after two bad experiences with interferon treatment and an allergic reaction to ribavirin. Unfortunately I am experiencing maddening itching which I'm controlling with Allegra and extreme fatigue and an all around foggy feeling.
Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.
