Avatar m tn Latest news is that the night before the operation, doctors diagnosed significant problem on the aortic valve of the heart and after an echo check next morning, they decided to go on immediately with the CABG, changing the valve itself and making 2 bypasses (one from chest and one from right foot). Avatar m tn Operation to the spine is also very tedious and technical and the more common complication would include infection of the surgical site. The plates or cage if not properly secured can cause further problems like nerve impingement. As I've written, you should discuss all of these risks with your surgeon before you sign the consent form. I hope your surgery will be uneventful and successful! God bless.
Avatar m tn Bow legs or genu varum can be corrected in adults by surgical remodeling. The exact type of surgical technique would depend on the severity and the exact location of the defect. Temporarily orthotic devices may be used to provide symptomatic relief, though a permanent cure may require a surgery in adults. It would be best to consult an orthopedician for a detailed review and appropriate management.
Avatar f tn I got the diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism yesterday. No surgical operation of parathyroids will be done in the near future and no sestamibi scan. I must wait for the disease possibly becoming worse, for instance to cause higher blood calcium levels or kidney stones. My shoulder was injured in 2008 when I fell over. I have a titanium screw in the shoulder. The screw has become almost uncovered. I think that bone has disappeared around it due to PHPT.
Avatar n tn My penis started swelling and hurting. Went to E.R. They saw what was thought to be a kidney stone on the the tip of the penis. They tried to remove it but it wouldn't budge. Another Dr. came in and stated that it was of metel. He said it looked like a clip from my prostatectomy- 5 years ago. I ended up having surgury. I had a cystoscopy done during the surgury. He removed the one discussed above and then removed a 2nd one.

Avatar f tn What you need to do is have have an attorney request a subpoena duces tecum for the surgical records, as well as the records of the post-operative discussion. These records will detail the problems during surgery, as well as the individuals present during the operation. If you don't find what you want your attorney can subpoena these individuals for a deposition regarding what took place during the surgery.

He subsequently was given vit K and INR came down to 1.5 at which time a needle biopsy was performed. His kidney unfortunately bled out and is now non-functioning. It showed type 4 lupus nephritis. Avatar f tn They are almost always benign and may have no signs or symptoms. The most common type is the simple kidney cyst which can be found in older people . They are often found incidentally as in the case of your father. They do not need any treatment. However, some become so large that and may require surgical removal. Talk to your doctor about the specific cyst present and discuss management to ease any worries. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I had the same thing happen to me in the space of a few months and had to have total removal of the thyroid. You don't mention if you had all your thyroid out. It could just be scarring inside which can get a bit lumpy, but only the doctor will know by feeling it for you. Don't wait for advice from the forum. Best to get it checked professionally.

Avatar f tn You need to consult a well experienced anesthetist, neurosurgeon and gynecologist to plan and carry out the surgical procedure. Please consult the gynecologist to get complete investigations done to find if you are fit for surgery. If she considers you fit, you can go ahead. If you are in experienced hands, you are safe along with the foetus. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!

Avatar f tn Hi, Good day! I’m 20 years old female, last October 2011 I received my CNB result of "Suspicious for follicular neoplasm". The doctor suggest me to undergo for a surgical removal of about half of it (Diagnostic Lobectomy) to know if it is benign or malignant. But I am afraid of it because others says that after the surgical removal of it I might lost my voice, so, I consult another doctor, she is also a general therapist.
5318203 tn?1366353424 Having the stent put into the ureter is helping you not to have kidney failure. While the stent is in, this allows the ureter to heal. When you had the cystoscopy, the surgeon must have found something not right with your ureter and that is why a stent was inserted. Has your consultant said when it is likely they will take the stent out? They usually give an indication when this is likely to be. My friend actually had kidney failure last September, and had a stent put in.
Avatar m tn Like Redbyrd600 mentions, and she experienced a hernia in the site of the her scar many years after her operation. Having had an incision to remove a kidney, albeit 6 years, should not be ruled out of having a hernia because of the incision. jereboot does not mention where this hernia is and how long her son has had this. People can have a hernia for many years and if it is a small one that has not been bothering them (in the belly area or the groin), will not always see their doctor.
Avatar f tn I understand your concern regarding this situation, but the best person to ask regarding this would be the person who will be operating on you. Any operation carries its own risk. May it be the risk of aggravating the pain or condition or developing complications such as infection of heart and lung problems. These risks can be present even at the hands of the most experienced surgeons. However, this risk should be balanced with the potential benefits that you could get from the operation.
