Avatar n tn I recently hurt my should on the job, August 31, 2009. I saw an Orthopedic Surgeon and he told me I had cartilage damage that needed to be repaired surgically. I have full range of motion in my shoulder, and 20 degrees past in a couple of movements.

418466 tn?1207114132 Do NOT attempt to remove this drain by yourself. I can understand another vet wanting the surgical report, but it shouldn't stop them from treating your dog. That doesn't sound right to me at all. If you're having problems finding a competent vet, you could try starting with your local SPCA or Humane Society. Explain the situation to them and I'm sure they'll come up with a vet who will happily get this thing safely out of your dog's ear.
Avatar n tn If the Physiotherapy doesn't help, your Doctor might suggest trying spinal injections. If your pain is currently at the 6/10 level and additionally you sometimes don't have any pain, its too soon for surgery. You might get better and then you won't have to worry about it. These surgical procedures are serious business.
Avatar m tn s condition is able to successfully (benefit/risk) meet surgical stress if an operation is planned or future events make necessary.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was rushed in for an emergency operation 3 years ago due to severe abdominal pains (suspected abscess on my appendix) where a 20cm cyst was found in my abdomen. About 1liter was drained from it and it was found only to contain lymphocytes and nothing more serious. Since then it has grown back so I had drain fitted under CT scan. This did not work due to the structure of the cyst. It has since grown even bigger and I often get stomach pains.
Avatar m tn I’m a 50 year old male who was in an automobile accident in August 2009. My diaphragm was herniated on the right side and liver was pushed partially through the diaphragm. I had a bilateral pneumothorax and underwent emergency surgery. My injuries were numerous and I won't waste space here listing them. My liver and spleen were lacerated, but the surgeon was able to repair both, as well as the herniated diaphragm of course.

Avatar f tn Doctor gave three options - (1) to cut off blood supply to fibroid / (2) remove only the fibroid / (3) remove the entire uterus. Doctor recommended to do the operation laparoscopically. My wife wanted to go for option (3) so that she will not have any more worries about fibroids in future. My wife also has one gall bladder stone measuring 15 x 14mm. Doctor suggested that as long as this is not giving any problems - leave it alone.
Avatar m tn After abdominal surgery the intestines are sometimes slow to re-start following surgical manipulation during the operation. I believe the medical name is "ileus". When I underwent colon surgery I was told that there were drugs that could be administered to nullify an intestinal ileus and you may wish to ask the surgeon about this.
535822 tn?1443976780 The long-term health damage caused by the great H1N1 swine flu scam "pandemic" of 2009 -- and particularly the mass vaccination campaign that accompanied it -- is already becoming apparent in the form of an autoimmune disorder.
Avatar f tn In 2003, my husband had his aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve due to a congenital heart murmur. In early 2009, he was diagnosed with his aortic root dilated. The dilation measured 5.2 cm. His cardiologist advised us if it goes up to 5.5 cm, surgery will be recommended. Otherwise, we have been taking a "wait and see" with 6-month follow up visits with his cardiologist.
Avatar n tn worried, surgery, painful, cysts, ultrasound, test, panicking, hormone, cyst I am on holiday 12 hours long haul flight from home. and am wondering if I can travel home or if I need to have surgery here. What is truly necessary in a situation like this. I am 'bricking it' (Brit for v. worried) and don't know what to ask or where I stand. I have had pain for three weeks which is now reducing to lower level. An ultrasound scan shows there is a haemorrhagic cyst of nearly 5 cm.
Avatar m tn Every surgical operation has its risks depending on your age or if you have other comorbid conditions (hypertension, diabetes, stroke, etc). Complications include difficulty of breathing, heart problems, kidney problems during or after the operation, though these can be minimized with proper pre-operation evaluation (usually by an internist, or cardiologist).

1060769 tn?1254977492 Postponing the operation as long as reasonably possible is a good thing. You avoid unnecessary surgical risks by doing that. A few people actually die during heart surgery. It's not like having your tonsils out. It's a lot more major than that. It's not something to jump into, just to "get it over with." Also, if you can postpone your operation, you may be able to take advantage of advanced surgical technology later on.
Avatar n tn If the percentage is less than 29%, a surgical operation is at a high risk and a surgeon may not recommend an operation as the risk may exceed the benefit. Or the estimated dimensions of the heart may be insignificant, and your mom is relatively good health and the risk is minimal.

Avatar f tn 20th Feb 2009 I had partial discectomy on L5/S1. On the third day after operation I have found that on walking or certain movements, I would get dreadful muscle cramps in the leg, sometimes so painful it seems worse than the original sciatica pain. Can anyone advise me as to whether this will eventually go or whether more surgery is necessary and who should I consult, orthopaedic surgeon or neurologist?
Avatar m tn I have AMD in both eyes which causes seeing problems only in my right eye. I have had cateract removed in both eyes and the improvement in my vision was extremely good - more distant signs in shops for instance and particularly seeing the ball when playing tennis. However now my vision in my left eye (the important one for seeing small objects and reading) in non bright light has now become similar to the state before the cateract was removed.
Avatar f tn Therefore, surgical intervention is essential to remove the large cyst and if permanent damage needs to be avoided. Craniotomy, needle aspiration and cerebral shunts are common surgical treatment that may help. But, surgical modalities may have some complications depending upon size of cyst. Before opting for surgical procedures, you should evaluate both the pros and cons with the help of a neurosurgeon. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Bow legs or genu varum can be corrected in adults by surgical remodeling. The exact type of surgical technique would depend on the severity and the exact location of the defect. Temporarily orthotic devices may be used to provide symptomatic relief, though a permanent cure may require a surgery in adults. It would be best to consult an orthopedician for a detailed review and appropriate management.
