Right now i am only taking Relpax for migraines. I have a headache almost everyday of the week and a migraine 2-3 times per month. I only take the Relpax during my migraines and may take tylenol, ibuprofen, or excedrin for my headace without any relief. My MD had spoken with me about taking medicine daily to prevent the occurence of my migraines. I really do not want to take another daily med because I want to have a baby in the next couple of years.

Hey scaredmommy - I don't remember how many days you have. I had rebound pain of some sort headaches included well beyond 30 days clean. I had a two week period where I really pondered living the rest of my life in pain and if I could but it did pass. I still have pain but not anywhere along the lines of those two weeks and it is manageable.

I agree with the rebound headache from the drugs. My two thoughts, one have you tried a strict elimination diet? There are many food triggers for headache one would not think of. Two, please make sure a binocular vision dysfunction is not causing your problems. I have seen many patients with headache everyday and have never had a proper binocular vision assessment.

Your sinus infection may have cleared already but the pain killers have caused a new rebound headache that is separate from the headache you had from the infection. The best way to stop a rebound headache is to slowly stop taking over-the-counter pain killers or to switch to a prescription pain killer that is less likely to cause rebound headaches (such as Naproxen). i dont take any meds for migraines,my doc tells me they cause rebound headaches. i have nausea and vomit sometimes. i feel hopeless . shouldent my doc give me something to try to help with this pain? could the migraines cause my memory loss?

Be careful NOT to over do NSAIDS or she can end up with a rebound headache on top of migraine. I suffered through this after a proceedure and it is terrible. You have to wait until system is clear before you can take anything again (gen 3 days). Ask her doc, this was just my exp. Good luck to you both.

I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. This would not be the initial cause of your headache, but what is perpetuating your headache and making it worse. Medications as simple as tylenol or advil if used too much can cause rebound headaches that are even worse then the headaches for which the medications were started for. This is very common and is most likely to occur with use of any medication for your headache more than a few times a week.

Here recently I have been waking up around the same time every night (3am) with a headache that gives a extremely sharp pain in the opposite side of my cluster headache but I can't figure out what is causing them. I eventually fall to sleep and wake up with the right side of my head feeling sore. If anyone has experienced these before please let me know if there is anything I can do to stop these. Taking imitrex daily is likely setting her up for rebound headaches. I didn't take it daily, but experienced rebound headache before after taking imitrex. If she has not had an MRI (or CT scan) of her brain, her doctor should be ordering one to try to rule out brain tumor, aneurysm, or anything else that might cause headaches. You won't know if it's something like that until you test- so please urge her to get the pictures of her brain!

Was there a previous trauma in the past? If the headache does not respond well to rest, ice packs and over-the-counter pain medication, have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation.
