Avatar f tn I had a migraine the other day that started in the back of my left eye and then went to my upper and lower teeth and gums. I was just recently told I have migraines not sinus problems. Was also told I have trigeminal neuralgia. I am starting to wonder if my face pain is related to my migraines and not TN.
Avatar f tn Yesterday morning I woke up around 4am with another migraine. I took my sumatriptan, and the migraine was gone when I woke up again. I commuted to my college, and went about my day. Yesterday evening it came back (maybe a rebound?). Knowing that it typically gets worse, I took a sumatriptan before bed. Last night, I woke up every hour desperate for relief. Ice didn't work. Changing my position didn't work.
1102283 tn?1257817472 But, due to cost constraints, I would suggest getting a prescription for the cheapest generic triptan which is called Sumatriptan tablets. The Sumatriptan tablets work well for many people, so if they work well for you then that would be excellent and you can just stick to them as your only prescription. Although, due to the extremely low bioavailability of Sumatriptan tablets, they do not always work well for everyone (although Sumatriptan is still the most prescribed triptan on the market).
Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
Avatar f tn Triptans are migraine medications that interupt the physiology of a migraine and STOP the migraine from happening. Migraine is much more than just pain, so taking pain killer for migraine is only treating one part of the migraine and not actually stopping the migraine... which is why so often the pain killers don't even touch the pain or the pain will return. If you are having migraines, you should really be treating them with proper migraine medications.
Avatar f tn On 6th June 2008 I went to my GP and explained that I had been suffering from a constant left sided headache for 3 weeks, behind my eye of a throbbing, dull nature. Sine then I have seen a neurologist who has diagnosed chronic migraine but no medication he has prescribed has helped (anti depressants, beta blockers, NSAIDs, anti epileptics). A CT scan showed no abnormalities. I am wondering if it could be because of my glasses.
Avatar f tn t seem to have any food or odor triggers, but the weather, especially rain, bring them on. I have a migraine of some degree about 28 days of the month. I get Botox injections, am on Topomax, Sumatriptan, anti nausea meds...the whole works. My life was changed in an instant. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar incident, and recovered??? None of my doctors can say if I will ever be free of these migraines...
Avatar n tn Apo-Indomethacin and Pms-Sumatriptan was prescribed to me by my doctor. I am also on progesterin to help reduce the amount of headaches, I have been using nasal sprays as well. Month six, no change. Blood tests shows no diabetes, Thyroid, liver or kidney problems. I have been sleeping about 13-14 hours a day. I have a swollen gland on the left side of the back of my neck and has been swollen for about five years, I don't know if it is related.

Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Your symptoms resemble those of migraine. Symptoms of a migraine may include sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, auras (loss of vision in one eye or tunnel vision), difficulty of speech and intense pain predominating on one side of the head You can also try for sumatriptan in combination with NSAID like naproxen.
621465 tn?1221537588 Is fainting or loss of consciousness something that can be caused by a migraine? I have been suffering from migraines for some time now. Some are bad. Some are awful. Some are 'please almighty power of the cosmos let me die now'. Several days ago I was trying to rest off a migraine headache. I had not taken any medicine for it since most pain killers upset my stomach, and it was already mighty upset. I guess I got up to go the bathroom and fainted on the way.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Sumatriptan or Imigran tablets may or may not be taken with food. There are no special considerations with regards to alcohol but this may trigger or exacerbate migraine attack. Avatar f tn I get a serious migraine every October and March that has to be handled with 1 to 2 rounds of steroids each time (the sumatriptan and daily preventive medicine are not enough) and alternative therapies like acupuncture and applied kinesiology. I eat an autoimmune paleo diet and it still doesn't prevent/reduce these migraines episodes. My question: Is there a seasonal component to these migraines?
Avatar f tn Some people have success treating migraine with ibuprofin (such as advil). For me nothing works except sumatriptan (such as imitrex) for you need a prescription.
Avatar f tn I am new to the whole prodrome thing. I noticed it on my migraine tracker so I looked it up. I realized that I do experiance them. My question is, is there anything you can do when you notice a prodrome to stop the headache from coming? Any information would be greatly appreciated because as I stated my knowledge on the subject is still new and of course incomplete. Thank you.
Avatar n tn As soon as they were finished with the ablation, before they rolled me out of the cath lab, I started getting a migraine (blurry vision, followed by headache from hell, nausea, vomiting). Before my heart ablation I would get a migraine 3-4 times a year. I have been getting them since i was a teenager (I am now 34). Since the surgery, I have gotten 1-2 migraine headaches EVERY DAY (I'm on day 5 since my surgery). Sometime I get one in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping.
1761287 tn?1313824787 Not sure if that can contribute to migraine onset. I take Advil PM to help me sleep because that is the only way to stop the pain. Thanks for any advice on treatment...Oh...I was prescribed Sumatriptan for them & it works only sometimes, although it does have some dizziness as a side effect...
Avatar f tn in this 16months period, honetly speaking I just had migraine with aura(optical migraine with stars and lights in the visual field). out of 8 episodes of migarine in the l6months, I always have migraine while I am sleeping, usually very early morning like 4-6a.m. This time today it started at 7a.m. The pain is so intense that I want to ***** sharp knife to cut that part of head and eye. especialy the eye pain is so bad and the intensity decreases a bit by vomiting.
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
Avatar m tn Hello Dear, You should consult a neurologist and get MRI done as there could be several causes of your pain like,.migraine, degenerative spine changes, neuropathy, nerve compression etc.You should go for a evaluation and get the diagnosis confirmed.Neck exercises will help you.
768044 tn?1294223436 If you take a preventative/prophylactic migraine medication, what type are you currently taking? Feel free to be more specific by replying to this post stating which antidepressant or anticonvulsant or betablocker you are currently taking. Also, feel free to let us know if you think what you are currently taking is working.
518798 tn?1295212279 HOWEVER, the tablets take an hour to work as compared with fifteen minutes for the injection. I get a migraine every day, and as soon as I feel it coming on, I take a sumatriptan tablet. As you might guess, I too have been wondering if I am dependent on the medication! I would like to hear from others who use it as often as I do.
Avatar f tn still suffering from dizziness alto not quite as severe, but this weekend developed what can only be described as the worst headache of my life, over right eye and temple, waking me in night from sleep, pressure/pain in eyeaball, intermittent swollen eyelid and redeye for one hour, pain was excruciating and lasted for four days. Had emergency appt with neuro who has diagnosed Vestibular migraine, altho none of my symptoms really match the required for vestibular migraine.
Avatar f tn There are plenty of migraine headaches in the market today and treatment is usually trial and error for some. Imitrex or sumatriptan is used to treat migraine headaches, with or without aura, in adults. This has been effective to some headache sufferers. If it does not help with your symptoms, inform your doctor for a change of medication. Take care and do keep us posted.
