Avatar f tn IMITREX (SUMATRIPAN) TWICE DAILY FOR 2 TO 4 YEARS (VS) OmyGosh..I'm Margie. Many years ago, I had chronic migrains. Bad ones that were debiliating to my marriage and career. For years, I used the nasel or pill form of Imitrex. I, at the time in my life, was also going through a bunch of "Garbage" as I call it.. e.i., multiple tragedies back to back. I believed, at the time, that the onslaught of such stress was the reason for my memory loss in my years of 41-52ish.
Avatar f tn 2 times in a day, only twice in a week). My mom has her own medical problems, which include migraines, so I'm switching to her neuro. I've been waiting about 6 months for my appointment, which is finally coming up in March. This guy is very popular, so getting your first appointment is a long wait. I used to feel like my migraines were controllable; they didn't own me, I owned them kind of thing...
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?

Avatar f tn There are some types of migraine that present with numbness also and even with the absence of headache and presence of just aura symptoms like sensitivity to light and sound, nausea or vomiting. Was the sumatriptan effective in reducing the pain? Check with your doctor if it does not improve for proper evaluation. Take care always.

Avatar n tn Apo-Indomethacin and Pms-Sumatriptan was prescribed to me by my doctor. I am also on progesterin to help reduce the amount of headaches, I have been using nasal sprays as well. Month six, no change. Blood tests shows no diabetes, Thyroid, liver or kidney problems. I have been sleeping about 13-14 hours a day. I have a swollen gland on the left side of the back of my neck and has been swollen for about five years, I don't know if it is related.
Avatar f tn Medications, and other things can cause seizures, this is not the same as Epilepsy. Epilepsy is caused by an electrical discharge that can only be seen with an EEG. You still may be having symptoms of anxiety or you may be feeling the "aura" that many epilepsy sufferers experience just prior to a seizure. I know you don't want to have this, but it is easily controlled, much easier than anxiety. Take care.
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.

Avatar n tn TICS may be difficult to separate from other involuntary movements like epilepsy. She might have suffered from hysterital epilepsy. She needs a re-assurance and thorough counselling. In this, head nodding is very common example.
Avatar f tn Hi Jenny, I went to see my GP this morning and he has put me on sumatriptan. I took one and got quite a tight chest and throat and felt a bit dizzy but after an hour that subsided. I still have my headache but the dull throb definately has improved, thanks for the suggestion. I have also been put on 900mg of gabapentin and I have to see him again in 2 weeks. If there is no improvement with that then I have to see my neurologist again.
Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
1102283 tn?1257817472 But, for cost reasons, fill the generic Sumatriptan tablet prescription first! (as long as the doctor at the clinic agrees) And, try to get samples of what ever triptans the clinic has to hand out if possible, regardless of the brand.. all triptans have been proven effective in clinical trials, so they are all worth trying as long as your doctor agrees, especially if it is a free sample.
488498 tn?1215070259 I have photosensitive epilepsy (diagnosed at 14) and then at 15 I was diagnosed with clinical depression. And then at 17 I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. Now they are saying I might have PTSD and behavioral spells. I am always anxious/nervous. I'm really thinking that there is a link between epilepsy and mental illness. For me it would make sense with what's going on with me currently. Hope we find some answers!

1328714 tn?1294578263 Hi, I'm 15 and I was diagnosed with nocturnal partial frontal lobe epilepsy about three months ago. I've noticed my memory has been really bad since about 1 month ago, which has not only affected my school work but also general conversation as I find within a sentence i'l forget a word and spend ages trying to remember it, then failing and attempting to describe the word. It's been so frustrating that i'l hit my head and almost burst into tears.
Avatar f tn Hello I have had migraines and epilepsy from the age of 2. I find that I get migraines a week before my periods and the first few days. Stress, emotion and lack of sleep triggers migraines and seizures. Since I was put on keppra and tegretol 2003 I don't have so much seizures anymore. I also fell pregnant which I had less seizures and migraines. My girl has turned out fine. I could not ask any better because it took the depression away. I hope you get better.
Avatar f tn For the past 11 weeks i have been getting daily (some times more that once a day) headaches which at best can be described at feeling like I have been shot in the head just above and behine my ear and at worst in my head, into my ear and right down to my neck and sholder. I have been to the doctors 3 times but they just keep telling me to take paracetemol/codeine. Ordinary pain killers dont help.
Avatar m tn My daughter was diagnosed with Addisons 5 years ago and has struggled with multiple other issues such as UTI’s, bacteria infections, ocular migraines and now epilepsy. I personally don’t think she has epilepsy but she started having seizures and was put on seizure medicine to control the seizures. That was about 5 months ago and her seizures have just gotten worse and more frequent. I am concerned that her primary Dr.
Avatar n tn If your seizures are well-controlled now, I do not believe that they will increse due to relapses. My sister-in-law had epilepsy all of her life and did seem to have an increase in her seizures when she was under great periods of stress. If you course does not run that way, I wouldn't worry about a sudden incease. This is a concern that you should speak to your doctor about. And welcome to the MS Forum.
1052703 tn?1266279337 of the epilepsy all those years ago. Is there a link between my having epilepsy and my subsequent bouts of anxiety? I have had many good years without any panic attacks but have had trouble within the last six months with severe anxiety and panic. I am taking buspar 10mg three times daily and Xanax 10mg as needed within an eight hour period. Should I request an eeg from my doc just to see if there is anything abnormal? Would antiseizure medication be applicable?
Avatar m tn I have epilepsy as well and am looking for info on hgh and epilepsy. My keppra (valproic acid) works pretty well for my grand mals but i still have petit mal seizures on occasion in the morning. How much and what kind of hgh works for you? Also, is this something my doc is going to prescribe me? I'm a 30 year old male. I'm very interested in this and want to know where I would I find info.
Avatar m tn The only thing that seems to work in any way are the Sumatriptan tablets, presumably because they shrink the blood vessels meaning he doesnt get the swelling and therefore no pain.
Avatar n tn I know it is still consider as new medicine for epilepsy, and there might be risks for birth defects. I just want to make sure if there has been new research about this medicine and pregnancy, I will like my future children to be healthy. Is there also a big percentage for my children to have epilepsy? How can I prevent any birth defect from happening? What medicine will be better or safer to have children with and still treat my epilepsy?
