I have sudden knee pain and it's freaking me out, because I haven't done anything (knowingly) to injure it. The pain is below my knee cap where it meets the shin bone. It only hurts when in motion...walking or using stairs, or anytime I have my weight on it. I have to limp because the pain hurts so much. Some days are worse than others; some times there is very little pain. When sitting down there is no pain, and I can move my leg around with no pain while sitting.
Hello, thanks for responding the pain has not gone away and it has been almost three weeks, the area of the pain feels to be a little under my knee cap in front and slightly moving to the left side of the knee cap area. When I bend it and try to put weight the pain is a instant sharp shooting pain and it looks a tiny bit puffy on the left side of the knee cap but I put ice and it don't go down. Had xrays done and I was told by ER dont look bad, should I not listen and get a MRI?
i started to get a jolting sharp pain on my left knee i think coming from the knee cap or around the sides of the knee cap. it went away the next day but came back again few days later...... it seems to come when i just walk on the knee not every step but a certain pressure of my steps. Someone please help dancing is my Job and before i dish out money to a doctor i would like to try to understand what im dealing with. PLEASE HELP!
She woke up yesterday with a Swollen bump under her knee cap that is the size of 1/2 her knee. The top of it has a spot on it that looks like she scrapped or burned it like a rug burn. Says when she presses on it, it burns/hurts. Hurts to bend but only because of the skin being pulled. Obviously I told her to go to the dr tomorrow to get checked out which she is. She has been iceing it.
I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me but I lost the paper. So I do not know what is called. The pain is under both sides of my knee cap. It occurs when I go down stairs; bend my knees to jump, and thrust forward on a bike. The doc said the tendons, or ligaments (I can't remember which) are too weak (due to the fact that my knee are still growing) to keep the knee cap from sliding over to far and causing inflammation and swelling in the knee.
I was told that I have patella feminel pain, I am use to having trouble kneeling and walking after a shift at work and and my knee being weak and the knee cap moving around, but lately even when I am not doing anything it feels as though something is push up on my knee cap, and extremely painful and I cant get the pain to go away. At time it feels as though something is being wedged under my knee cap.
a plica band (dead tissue around the knee cap) did it come on suddenly or did u injure it? Mine was sudden & the tear got worse bc I kept going full force & didn't get treatment. It shot up the leg too. The tear doesn't heal on its on (on the plica) bc there's very little blood flow there. (The 2nd surgery was the plica band came back & they found what's called chrondomalasia..roughness of the knee) so my advice is to not let it go long.
It seems to run along the edge of the knee cap. At first the pain was only when I walked up and down stairs and had to put all my weight on one knee but now I can hardly extend my knee without getting sharp pains on the inside of the knee. Also, not sure if this is relevant, but there is a painless bruise on the middle of my knee right below my knee cap and I have no idea where it came from.

This means that under your knee cap is rough looking (kind of like a field of hay) not smooth and prestine. This will accelerate arthritis. Is this in both knee caps?
He did an ultrasound and drew off some more fluid and gave him another cortizone shot. The first doctor drew the fluid from under his knee and the second drew it from his knee cap. It has been several weeks now and his pain is back he still has a little swelling but now both his knees hurt. He wears a brace on both his knees now. He has trouble getting up if he has to get down on the ground for something. We are not sure what to do now because both doctors has told him all his test look fine.
Well, air travel can be a place where blood clots can develop in a the legs. I would suggest you go to emergent care at the emergency room about this because blood clots are nothing you want to wait around to be seen about. Blood clots potentially can break loose and travel and can become life-threatening.

I fell Christmas 2015 running for a train and fell on a large concrete step straight onto my right knee cap. It was cut and badly bruised at the time but over a year later I can't kneel on that area of my knee without it hurting badly I'd say 9/10 pain rating. When I put pressure on it with my fingers it also hurts. The location of the pain is under my knee cap. I've recently started running which mostly just makes the area stiff.
I am a 53 year old male who has been walking my whole life, lately my right knee has been locking up and I get a bad burning pain just about were my knee bends. This just came on all of a sudden about two weeks ago. It dosen't happen all the time, but when it does the pain is a hot burning type pain. It burns for awhile and I have trouble walking and then it just goes away for days at a time until it happens again. Does anyone know what it could be or what is causing this pain.
hello i am 16 and male in the past week my knee has been hurting when ever i put weight on it it hurts right under the knee cap and i cant stay sitting for too long or both knees start to hurt i have also realised that i can no longer touch my heels to my butt my quads feel very tight when i try please help this has been bothering me for a while now thanks
