Avatar n tn I had surgery 9-29-08 and had a Zimmer gender specific total knee replacement. Since then I have pain around the outer edge of my left foot and across the arch of my foot. Can you give me an answer as to why this has happened and what can I do for the pain?
Avatar f tn hi lynsey163, the Range of motion depends on the type of implant you have used.Standard implamts promise about 110 degree ROM(zimmer normal knee/depur PFC) where as there are some which give about 165 degrees ROM (zimmer high flex knee / depuy rotating platform knee). so you have to tell me , which implant you have used. 2 weeks is a pretty small time. by this time ROM should be atleast 90 degrees, no matter what implant you have used.
Avatar f tn I had a knee replacement a year ago and am having pain. I was curious . . . how did they know the glue was deteriorating? Did they do an MRI? I just had and MRI and have been told it could be "mild loosening, bone stress reaction, or stress response". My Dr.'s onlt response was, if it's bad enough redo the knee replacement surgery. How long ago was your replacement surgery?
Avatar f tn I had a total left knee replacement done 10 years ago. I now need to have that knee redone, plus a left hip replacement done. My question is, can I have both these done at the same time?
Avatar f tn Is anyone here experienced an aching hips after an implanted hip replacement? This discussion is related to Pain after Hip Replacement.
Avatar f tn I had 3 surgeries on my right knee, my first in May 2008, 2nd in Oct 2008, and total knee replacement in April 2009. I have completed phsical theraphy at home for 7 weeks, and outpatient P.T for 6 add'l wks. I have more pain now than before. I can't walk without my cane for long periods, I can't sit, because my back now hurts, and I can't sleep too well. All medications and shot of cortisone don't seem to work well. I continue to search for a avenue of relief.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the information on the knee replacement. I had a shoulder replacement a little over a year ago and I believe I'm in for a revision/second surgery on it very soon. Recently I've been having intense, severe pain and loss of mobility in the shoulder that, in some respects, is worse than before the surgery.
Avatar f tn This would be a difficult question to answer without the relevant clinical details. A knee replacement is not preferred in young patients as the life of a knee replacement around 10-20 years (the newer devices last longer than the older ones). Though knee replacements are usually successful and help in regaining movements around the joint conservative management is preferred due to the risk associated with the replacement surgery and a possible re-replacement surgery.
Avatar m tn However, if your quality of life is poor and all other options have been exhausted. Knee replacement can be extremely effective. Whether, total knee, partial knee, or patellafemoral replacement is best can only be determined ny examining you and reviewing your xrays.
Avatar f tn I had a osteotomy on my right knee which was a total disaster and had to have a total knee replacement later. I need total knee replacement on my left knee. I am so scared to get it because of what I went through with my right leg. With tka's what is the % of surgeries that turn out normal? I know I have to have the P.T. for about 6 weeks and all that but boy it's a painfull surgery and what type of pain medication would you think would be sufficent?
Avatar f tn m only 46) and having some other health issues (lupus, fibromyalgia, asthma), he would strongly suggest going with a total knee FUSION as opposed to a total knee REPLACEMENT. He said that because I am relatively young (although I don't feel young most days) and have the autimmune problems, there is an increased chance that a knee replacement would not last very long for me and would have to be done at least one more time, if not several times.
405614 tn?1329144114 After an injury in 11/1990, three arthroscopies over the years, last one 07/10/2006, I had (R) knee joint replacement surgery, on 08/05/2013, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis, IN, by Dr. J. Avatar m tn I have been an active 66 year old male. I had successful knee replacement surgery 11 weeks ago. My father died of a massive heart attack when he was 66.
Avatar f tn I was surprised that he did not mention it before I had the arthroscopy or at a later appointment when he bluntly told me that I required a knee replacement. So, my question is, are the Synvisc injections readily available in Australia? I was considering going to Thailand or such and have them there (...and if successful, just continuing my travels from there). I would like to delay the replacement surgery and travel for few months prior to being laid up recovering from surgery.

Avatar f tn My brother couldn't get the knee replacement he needs because of his MS, as an alternative he looked into chichens comb injections. Can anyone tell me how effective they have been for others. Many thanks.
Avatar n tn I had a total knee replacement 14 months ago. The surgeon severed my popliteal artery, destoying one inch. Vascular surgeon make emergency repair, but scar tissue formed, completely blocking repair. I had a successful artery bypass with a harvested vein 9 months ago. Avatar n tn I had a total knee replacement in October 08 which was very successful. However, in January I came down with blepharitis. After 2 doctors, drops and antibiotics they now have stuck pins in the blister like sores that line my eyes and suggest I see a surgeon to have the under my eyelids scraped out. These blisters when broken, bleed and ooze. In addition to this infection I went to the dentist for cleaning. I took the prescribed antibioics before and all was fine.

Avatar f tn Therefore, giving the injections under fluroscopic guidance puts the medication into an optimum location in the knee joint and is much more successful. I would like to know opinions on this, success rates using this type procedure, and any other additional information since I am considering trying this route in a few months. Many thanks for any information provided!
Avatar f tn Ok, after reading all the negative comments about knee replacement on this site, I have just about decided not to have the surgery done. Is there anyone out there that has had success in this and would like to share? I need some positive feedback, please.
Avatar f tn I had a knee replacement 5 months ago and I am allergic to nickel. Now this knee needs to be taken out and replaced! Is the Oxinium knee nickel free? Avatar f tn I had been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in the left knee and beginning in the right knee four years ago. I was told that I was bone on bone in the left knee. Since I was only 50 years old the doctor said that I was too young for surgery. Four years later, 1 less thyroid, additional weight, I have been told I am too fat and I need to get my BMI down before they would consider.
