Avatar f tn t think much of it) so I called my husband (who was two hours away) and he had his mom come over to see if she thought I was in labor, which I was. Contractions really were not that bad. I was able to talk through them. At 7pm we filled up the birth pool and my midwife showed up at 9pm, she checked me and i was 8cm. When transition came,  thats when contrantions got pretty intense and I could no longer talk when I was having one. I pushed for an hour.
Avatar n tn Castor oil is a stimulant laxative that causes contractions in the bowels, which in turn stimulates uterine contractions. Like most natural induction methods, this only leads to labor if your body is ready for labor — full term, cervix soft and dilating, etc.
Avatar m tn However, in the last month, it can bring on contractions. Anything that stimulates the cervix can speed you faster toward labor. When I was pregnant and baby was late, having sex was one of the things my doctor suggested to try to get labor going. I did find sex not super comfortable during the last couple months. So, maybe find other ways to be intimate if that's the case. You can still be intimate but perhaps not business as usual.
Avatar f tn Oxytocin (the hormone that makes you orgasm) is responsible for contractions when you go into labor. Practice contractions post orgasm are totally normal although not always comfortable! Drink some water and lay down for a while to relax them away.
Avatar f tn But keep in mind the epidural will not 100% black out the pain during delivery it's only is used for to ease the pain but with my contractions it did help numb it alot but like i said i am feel alot more pressure which is a little uncomfortable and doctors and nurses say it only gets worst
Avatar f tn I did castor oil at 38 weeks when i was in early labor. It is true, it does stimulate uterine contractions, BUT!!.., it won't dilated you.. I had extreme contractions..less than two minutes apart and was in labor, but I wasn't dilating.... so the docs sent me home in excruciating pain and j just went right back, they ended up giving me morphine to help me relax and dilate. I did try it and I wouldn't recommend it because it very well may just cause more complications...good luck..
Avatar f tn Supposedly, it causes colon cramping, which stimulates your uterus and causes it to begin cramping in order to spawn labor. My mother tried it with all three of her kids, and I tried it several times with my first to no avail. The only thing that happened to me is I started puking. I wouldn't suggest it since its success rate is so low and you may just end up feeling very sick in the end.
Avatar n tn You should be okay to masturbate and have sex all the way up until your water breaks, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Yes, orgasms do cause uterine contractions, but unless your body and baby are ready they won't be strong enough to start labor.
Avatar n tn The idea is to help your contractions to be more efficient and coordinated during labor. The raspberry tea from the grocery store is not the same as what you would get at a natural foods store or an herb shop. Make sure you're getting the good stuff - it doesn't taste like raspberries.
Avatar n tn You should try a health food store and get raspberry leaf tea. It tastes like green tea. It strengthens your uterus to make contractions more effective.
Avatar f tn Went in to labor and delivery last night cuz I pulled a muscle in my stomach and was told that I am having very strong contractions (that I cant feel).
Avatar f tn t play around with this. If it is per labor they should be able to give you something to stop the contractions. Good luck and I hope it truly turns out to be nothing.
Avatar f tn This irritation is passed to the uterus, which is a smooth muscle, as well. Irritation of the uterus increases the prostaglandin level, resulting in contractions and labor. Castor Oil starts the diarrhea two to six hours after drinking the oil. The contractions should begin shortly after that. Some midwives and mothers swear on this method and have repeatedly used this to conclude an overdue pregnancy. Others feel it is not worth the discomfort.
Avatar n tn Fibroids are smooth muscle tumors of the uterus. . They are non-cancerous, commonly found in younger woman. Since they are so common , 1/4 of child bearing age women have them. The majority of fibroids do not affect the ability to concieve and carry a baby. . A fibroid which grows into the wall of the uterus is called an intramural fibroid. called subserosal. A fibroid which grows just under the uterine lining, inside the uterine cavity, is called a intracavitary fibroid.
Avatar f tn your uterus is a muscle and like any other muscle works best when its kept tonned, thats why people drink red raspberry teaf tea or take the tablets, it tones and strengthens your uterus, the benefits of this is that during labour it will work better during contractions, making the contractions more efficient, whoich can shorten your labour by around an hour or so :)
Avatar f tn ll kinda make your breathing feel slightly different. To differentiate between braxton Hicks contractions and real labor contractions you need to pay attention to your stomach getting hard and if it's accompanied by pain. You'd feel it get tight. It's hard to miss. You also need to time them. Write down what time they happen and for how many seconds or minutes.that way you can tell how far apart they are and how long you're having a contraction.
Avatar f tn The process of delivery is what stimulates those hormones. Pumping beforehand can cause uterine contractions, put you into preterm labor, and greatly decrease your milk supply after you give birth. (If you only pump a little bit each day your brain will tell your body that's all it needs to produce and increasing that amount after baby will be very difficult). Also your breasts aren't sore because they are full of milk.
Avatar f tn I'm 39+6 weeks+days.im in labor my water broke at 3:50am im at five cm labor os going so smooth but contractions are getting harder and stronger idk if i should get an epidural and im pissed because as soon as o.got to the hospital they tried to give me pitocin without letting my body do its job i told the doctor no and another tried to.tell me the same thing i said no too so naturally my.
Avatar f tn They often start by feeling like just that a tightening. The abdomen will feel firm and tight. Contractions related to true labor will become regular and increase in intensity as labor progresses.
Avatar f tn I have three boys and while your breast make leak and be sore, pumping stimulates uterine contractions and will send you into labor. Thats how I went into labor with my first when I was over due. Plus your losing the "liquid gold" which is essential to your newborn. Try hot compresses to ease your discomfort as well as sleeping in a comfortable bra with nursing pads to absorb the fluid. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If done properly it should mimic the suckling action of a nursing baby and that will stimulate the production of oxytocin, (the natural form of pitocin) the hormone that causes uterine contractions. However it will only work if you are already close to labor and shouldn't be done without consulting your doctor as it can cause over stimulation of the uterus and in turn put the baby in distress..
