Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone withdrawal period drug

suboxone

Avatar f tn re on it for a longer period of time and you taper small amounts over a long period of time, the withdrawal will be less but you'll still have symptoms. Good luck and give the doctor a call for more information...
Avatar m tn I am just curious if anyone has tried this method and had a much shorter but more intense physical withdrawal period? I have read nightmarish stories about people on methadone taking sub early so I wouldn't suggest taking my advice and trying this, but I wonder if it would actually be preferred with weaker opiates and if you had valium and chlonidine type meds to take during that precip withdrawal period to help lesson the blow?
Avatar f tn Yes, it can be done, but personally I think it's a mistake to go on a much stronger drug, like Suboxone or Methadone, to avoid the withdrawal symptoms of a much weaker drug like Hydrocodone, thinking it's an easy way out. IMO if you do it should be only be a low dose for a very brief period, long enough to get over the worst part of Hydrocodone withdrawals, and short a time enough to prevent you becoming addicted to Sub.
1054484 tn?1255113567 Over the years, many have taken the medication to avoid withdrawal symptoms from their drug of choice only to find later that the withdrawal from suboxone is much worse than if they had just gone through the withdrawal originally. I think suboxone has it's place, but the casual pain killer abuser should think twice before starting a sub regiment.
441267 tn?1211687001 You need to be into full withdrawal before taking your first dose of either drug or you will go into precipitated withdrawal which is apparently much worse than any other withdrawal..
877402 tn?1241569071 Both activate opioid receptors, reducing drug craving and preventing withdrawal. Subutex is given during the first few days of treatment, while Suboxone is used during the maintenance phase of treatment. Like methadone, Suboxone can then be gradually weaned and stopped, eliminating physical dependence on opioids. Clonidine is a blood pressure medicine that acts on the brain.
Avatar f tn My doctor here in Dublin Ireland wont pescribe the drug suboxone he says it is only given to drug addicts.
Avatar m tn s a difference btw being psyichally addicted and dependent to a drug and taking something like suboxone where your not waking up in the morning searching, fiening, hurting. Personally I don't see anything wrong with taking something like suboxone for the rest of your life, if it has a positive effect on it, and a lot of the addiction specialist doctors I've seen have said the same thing.
Avatar f tn I would be reluctant to go off any opiate while on interferon therapy; the risk of depression from the interferon is quite high, and the opiate withdrawal could precipitate a very serious depression that requires stopping treatment for the hep C. There are a number of reasons people have trouble stopping Suboxone; the biggest reason is because it is hard to stop ANY opiate, including Suboxone.
Avatar m tn I've been on suboxone a lil over 2years. I was addicted to Laura tabs and opanas for about a year and a half. I wanted to try and get clean but the withdrawals was too much seeing I worked 40+ hours around the clock so my buddy hooked me up with a couple of subs saying they would help me get off opiates which they did but I slowly started to get addicted to the suboxone. Next thing I know I'm buying them every week off the street.
Avatar n tn I am anxious and a bit scared of what to expect during the withdrawal period, including how to manage the daily pain I have (most notable is the broken ankle/torn ligaments and inguinal hernias). Would you have any suggestions or feedback on the medications he prescribed for the withdrawal period or any knowledge you may have when one stops using pain medication? Tomorrow will be my last day of taking the opiate pain medication. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on this you may have.
Avatar f tn I'm tapering, pretty successfully so far, but I will not be making that final jump for awhile now. Withdrawals are pretty awful, even when I went 33 hours without. Does anyone know anything about rapid drug detox- the kind where they put you under anasthesia and detox the drug out of your system while asleep. I get the feeling it is a scam and can't find much online about it. I'm not concerned about the money, as they offer financing.
369629 tn?1237812958 The problem with Suboxone being that it is also a highly addictive drug, and the withdrawal from Suboxone is just as difficult, if not moreso, than any of the others. Sub in both of its forms (Subutex for the beginning of treatment and Suboxone for the maintenance phase) is a drug that is used to treat opiate dependence, however, like methadone, it too is addictive, so once you use Subutex and Suboxone to get away from the opiates, you then have to detox from the Suboxone.
Avatar f tn I started to feel sick after the last time I used like withdrawal symptoms so I got 12mg of suboxone. I took 4 one day, 3 the next, 2 the next, and one today. Will I now have suboxone withdrawal tomorrow.? Also, does suboxone show up on a urine test?
1181804 tn?1333402805 OK. I struggled with my opiate addiction so much that I never fully realized how physically addicting I was becoming to ativan too. The doctor who helped me wean off the percocets by putting me on suboxone and then slowly wean me off those over a one year period told me that I can't be on ativan while on suboxone. Well, my Primary Care had put me on the ativan (.5 / 2 X a day- but I took more when I "needed" it.......
877402 tn?1241569071 Providing the correct dose of methadone prevents opioid withdrawal symptoms and eases drug craving but it does not provide the euphoria. The dose can be slowly tapered off, freeing the person from physical dependence without withdrawal symptoms. Methadone is the most effective known treatment for narcotic addiction. Buprenorphine (Suboxone or Subutex) are the newest medicines for detox from prescription drug addiction.
Avatar f tn I would have never thought after six weeks you could still feel like day one of withdrawal. So my other question is how is Suboxone withdrawal compared to methadone withdrawal.
Avatar f tn This is my first post, so I just want to say, "Hey, what's up, everyone?! I'm glad to have found this site!" :) I've been up all night due to a little binge (the ingredients: an 8 ball of coke, a couple bags of heroin, and 5 klonopins) and have been reading the posts on here for over 2 hours.
Avatar n tn This opiate is the part of Suboxone that prevents a person from feeling withdrawal. The buprenorphine acts as a *partial* agonist. Meaning it's not going to make a person feel as euphoric (if at all) as a full agonist. Nor conversely result in as great of a feeling of depression/anxiety during the normal ups and downs in levels between taking a pill like a full agonist does. It could roughly be called a 'diet opiate' or 'Vicodin-Lite' if you like.
Avatar n tn Is there a time period I should wait before taking sub after taking percoset?
1055085 tn?1254106982 im afraid if i get off that i will use again. does suboxone have a negative effect if used over a long period if time? This discussion is related to Suboxone Withdrawal.
Avatar f tn This drug can be taken as a pain reliever as well just like methadone can be taken for pain but is meant for drug addiction. Suboxone might be a better pain reliever than say Percocet, or Vicodin because it is extremely good with pain relief without getting you all high thus preventing addiction. So if you are on it for pain this doesn't at all classify you as a drug addict.
610505 tn?1329603723 It is definitely a personal choice and I dont want to push you in one direction or another as getting clean is top priority. But I have to tell you that from experience suboxone withdrawal, for me and others, was no walk in the park and in fact much worse than coming off of vics, percs etc. Just dont be fooled into thinking there is a way to do this without any withdrawal because there isnt -- unfortunately.
Avatar n tn A family member then handed me a suboxone to help with withdrawal and I felt like superwoman, now 2 years later, I am still buying them off the street, I was diagnosed with C.O.P.D. 2 years ago, and desperately want to stop this cycle. I am so embarrassed, none of my family or members of my community have any idea, its like living a horrible lie. I am dying inside, I am a junkie because of legally prescribed pain medication.
