suboxone weight gain

How can I counteract the weight gain that seems to go along with my suboxone. I know the subs are the case because I went off of them for 2 weeks and continued my low carb eating that I have always done (I have been a low carb eater for years) and started losing the weight. Some things in my life happened and I knew I needed to get back on the subs so I went back on them, continued my low carb eating ways and have gained back 6 lbs in a week. Is there something natural I can take to comabt this?

Quick question I have been on methadone for 10 months and since getting on it I have gained a lot of weight and when I was on oc's I lost weight never gained anyone else gained weight w/methadone and how to get rid of it? This weight is not good for health at all I feel awful and FAT!!!! HERE is pic and I have gained 45 lbs in 10 months before I always weighted 150 never more sometimes less!!!!

For how long have you been on it? I did not gain weight on suboxone, but it did make me tired alot and nod at times. Maybe this is why you've gained weight? Do you take it for pain or as a maintenance drug? Kicking suboxone is very possible. I am 6 months clean from 2 1/2 years on suboxone. From all I've heard from actual people who used it the best way is to taper down to a tiny sliver or crumb of suboxone, then take that crumb or sliver every few days, then none.

As for Zyprexa its an antipsychotic used as a mood stabilizer. It works well but weight gain can sometimes be an issue so keep your diet to a normal amount and see what happens. Do ask your doctors to look this up and give you full information. They can give you the facts.

t see that anyone has posted about methadone causing weight gain in the past year. I just figured it out this evening that my initial weight gain of 75 lbs was from methadone and not the fact that I am hypothyroid which was diagnosed in 06. My thyroid hormones have been balanced several times and I never lost any more weight. I went off of Methadone a year ago - not intentionally, but a mix up and the withdrawal lasts for 21 days of hell. I blacked out.

Yes. It does an can make you gain weight. It all depends on your own body I'm on this and it didn't make me gain weight I am gaining now because I take depakote.

Anyone know why I would've gained 6lbs in 2 days? After i quit using and started subs 8mg i gained10lbs. I have tried to eat right at 1200 calories exercise 3-4 x a week for 1 1/2 month. I either can't lose anything or I gain so quick. Could this be suboxone? I know it probably reacts to people different but I don't understand. I should be feeling good about myself trying to be healthy and 57 days with no opiates but I am so discouraged!

I know that you cant be told that it definitely wont make you gain weight. My doctor says its had the least complaints of weight gain as a side effect. As to where Zoloft has had many complaints of weight gain. Like I said before.. Zoloft put a massive amount of weight on me. My daughter also has gained 70 lbs from it and was recently swithced to something else. I figured it was just me that my daughter wouldnt be affected the way I was from it. But I was wrong.

He thinks it’s my fib to or something else because my “inflammation” number on my bloodwork was 35 and I think he said it should be around 20. But this pain/tightness/swelling/weight gain started immediately ( within a few days) of starting Suboxone. It’s like fibromyalgia on steroids. So I guess I’ll just have to live with these side effects until I can wean off of Suboxone... I don’t know what other portion I have other than to go back on the pain meds and take them responsibly....

yes the weight loss is giving me alot of momentum. I was so disgusted with the weight gain and what was weird is I had no appetite on the subs so I was eating alot less then usual but the scale was going up. Really weird. I have never had a med react like that with me. Those subs just didnt agree with my body. But these withdrawals are really hard. I just feel like nothing I can take helps with anything.

I haven't heard that it does, but I haven't heard that it doesn't either! I think it's to new of a medicine to know yet. It's a good question though.

I've been on suboxone 8mgs since Jan 27th. I feel horrible! I've gained 10lbs, I'm very bloated, puffy, tired, no energy. Oh and super constipated. Did anyone else feel this way? I mean honestly why in the world would I stay on this medication if I continue to feel this way? I spoke with my doc who says weight gain isn't normal and it's probably because I'm craving sweets. True, but I also have been exercising 3-4 times a week and trying to chose healthy snacks.

When you were on Methadone did you gain weight while on it and/or try to lose weight while on it??? I was eating a 1200-1300 cal diet (super healthy) and exercising like a fiend and didnt lose much weight at all! I got my thyroid checked and there is no prob there. I am on 90 mg now but I have recently talked to the clinic about tapering down til I get off bc I just made up my mind I am tired of this weight and am ready to quit. So do you know if the suboxone users have the same problem with weight gain? Im going to drop 5 mg a week thats all. I really want to do more bc Im ready to be off it quicker but they discourage it at the clinic. What do you mean by if you go higher you will go through wd?

But of course the doctors are never wrong. In (07) I went for a full Gastric Bypass to GAIN WEIGHT and at this time 5 years laster stuck on pain killers and the surgery I lost teeth Vitamin deff. Body all screwed up etc(thank god im in the dental industry) But havent worked) ALL I WANT IS MY HEALTH. Hi, I am currently on m'done and it has been a life saver for me. I go to the clinic and am on 60mgs/day. However, I dont know how in the world that I am going to get off this stuff. I went 6 days w/o dosing and felt Ok until day 5 and then I felt like I had been run over by a truck. But the one thing that I do love about the m'done is I AM NEVER HUNGRY. I know that I am "different" as far as that goes because everyone else seems to eat all the time and gain tons of weight.

Also I am terrified of weight gain, I have heard both good and bad on the weight gain and the abilify. I have heard yes it does make you gain a ton of weight and then no it dont. I am getting tons of mixed signals from websites, my doctors, and pharmacist. I just need a little support from others taking this medication, so I can base my experience on others, rather than what I am reading on the internet about it. I really dont like taking medication of any type.

Just wondering if anyone else has been through this roller coaster of hypothyroidism because of these pain meds? Weight gain, fatigue, swelling, constipation, aches and pains- I thought all these things were because I was on suboxone. Went to the dr they ran some labs and it has actually been my thyroid. So because I was a selfish idiot I will be taking medication for the rest of my life. My body is a wreck and I never once thought about what I was doing to myself while I was using.

Then comes the isolation and weight gain and eventual weening off until the next bad flare up. It is a drag to have to live this way. I think if I could treat the depression it would be better but have never been able to find one that works well for me. I have tried them all and am waiting for the new NMDA receptor anti depressants to be available. I will research lyrica.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?
