Suboxone vs vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone vs vicodin

suboxone

I am battling an addiction to Vicodin stemming from a root canal which I underwent nearly 2 years ago. I have smoked pot years. Daily, in fact. It has torn me up. My confidense, my spirit; everything.
I am interested in detoxing with Suboxone. Can anyone tell me how much money I will need to do this? I have been taking way to much for a short period of time but I know my W/W will be the worst I've ever felt before. I finished 400 Tramadol in about 30 days and have 200 left. Now they just make me feel normal. Sick also. There is no high left or me. I just want out of this ****. Thanks for your help.
I'm just wondering how bad are suboxone withdrawals compared to vicodin withdrawals. I know I will have to get off these eventually.
And then if you are unsuccessful call a doctor for Suboxone. Suboxone is also an opiate so it also must be tapered and some people do have withdrawals with it. You may be able to just do this once by getting of the oxy by tapering, instead of starting another drug that you have to taper to get off of.. You see what I am saying?
I need some help, I have been trying to come off vicodin for about a week now. Every time I stop, the first day or two I cant sleep. So I go out to find vicodin so I can sleep. I take about 10 a day of the 7.5. I called the Doc and he was going to put me on suboxen??. I cant afford it. Does any one know how long it will be before I can sleep. Is there any sleeping pills that help. Would xanax help?
Hey...would love to hear from some of you who have been on suboxone maintenance & your thoughts & feelings about it. I am currently on it for a oxycodone addiction. It is really helping me, but I sometimes feel as though I am replacing one drug for another, although I feel I can function in the world without constantly thinking about pills, swallowing them, worrying when I'm going to run out & how to get my next stash. What are some of your experiences good or bad on suboxone?
I am on my 7th day of Suboxone....after 3 attempts to quit cold turkey..my doc finally said I should try the Sub......and from the moment I took the first dose, I have been a new person, or should I say- back to the person I was before I had my surgeries and dependant on Lortabs.... If anyone is having the W/D's , for me this is a no brainer....it made it sooo easy to get over all of the symptoms!
With that being said if I was doing anywhere 300-400mgs of vicodin I prolly would of gone the suboxone route. I found that kratom was a good replacement instead considering I was doing about 50-60mgs of vicodin. It's legal and I found that has helped. You can addicted to it but I would say it's nowhere the withdrawals like suboxone.
I've been taking 30 Vicodin HPs a week for a year now, but I am still suffering and I am finding it difficult to concentrate after taking Vicodin. I want to stop taking Vicodin before I become more dependant on it than I already am. My Dr. has suggested switching to Ultram in the past. Some pharmacist say that Ultram is addictive while others say it is not. Before I switch to another medication I would like to know what I am getting myself into. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
At this point I know it is not a mental addicition, but I can't take the damn withdrawls, they just kill me. At this point I've decided that I either need to go the Suboxone route or I need to try one of these anesthesia assisted rapid withdrawl programs. Does anyone have any insight as to which one is going to allow me to continue my life as quickly as possible. I'm a busy financial exec, working 80+ hour weeks so I can't be down for the count too long.
i hope when u went on this powerful narcotic that someone/ur DR/told u it was addictive and WDS r tough//but so wwere WDs from ur DOC I would imagine as it musta been a high dose of sumpin to send u to suboxone/subutex 6 mgs of sub is a strong dose in a way///it has a ceiling effect so in reality u could probably do 4 mgs and have no wds....some can get down to 2mgs..then the agony starts for a long term sub user/any narcotic is gonna hurt when u get down low enuf...and u r on a strong narcotic.
Hello, I am desperately trying to get off suboxone. I am all alone in this, so I would greatly appreciate if someone can tell me how to taper off. I am getting them off someone who gets them from a DR. I can't go to a doctor myself, because I don't want every Dr I go to to know. Now a days when I go to a Dr they ask me about meds I took that I didn't even tell them about. It's all computerized ! I don't want it in my insurance profile.
I wanted to post this for everyone thinking about using suboxone to recover. I was a vicodin/percocet user for going on 9 years. I had tried tapering, and wasn't successful, just couldn't stick to it. I tried cold turkey probably over 50 times if not more to no avail. I would get to day 3 or 4 and give up. The physical and mental withdrawals were just to much for me to bear and continue to handle my daily responsibilities. I contemplated suboxone for the last few months.
If you are hearing a constant ringing AND IT WONT GO AWAY. Man I would be at the suboxone doctors office immediately. That can be a sign of something seriously wrong. Good luck.
No I have not gone from methadone from Suboxone. Sorry I can't help.
She is on suboxone to help but has messed up a fewtimes in the last fortnight. AS she goes to a clinic she gets random urines. As he has all takeaways, he is only tested once a month and always knows the same day!!! so he is "safe". He is a really nasty piece of works and will find anything he can on her for custody - spite more than really wanting 100%.
I am currently taking methodone and have been for 15 months I have been off of painkillers (oxy's)since I started taking methodone bc it does no good to take any when you dont feel it since the methodone blocks bc I tried at first just out of habit. I was on pain pills for 4 yrs started with an ear ache and prescription for lortabs then my husband decided to get back on pain meds for a surgery he had (b4 he met me) that went wrong, he had been off for a few years b4 I met him.
Does a little heroin habit make it worse than a 300mg a day Vicodin habit? Heck, the Tylenol in the Vicodin would kill her faster than a small-moderate heroin or methadone habit. Anyway...Nauty, my story in in the Sub stories part of the Health Pages. I have learned some thing since I got off of Sub..including a better way to taper. I can also give her some great links to plenty of stuff the former resident Dr. Junig has written.
We discussed the fact that it seems the longer you are taking the suboxone, the worse the detox is...... if I could actually ween off the Suboxone in a week to 10 days, my detox program will be over within hopefully 14 days. But even if it takes 21 days, that means that I'll be weening off the meds for over a week, not actually taking it for 21 days before stopping it. Gosh, I hope that makes sense. While it's a little discouraging that my husband has doubts right now..
Oxycodone stays in your system longer - however it has the same 'effect' duration as Hydrocodone. I've always found Oxy to be stronger, but a bit more of a 'rough' (lack of a better description) high. Hydro took more pills, but the high was more euphoric for me -- peaceful but excited and full of energy - and can't stop talking. In the end - Oxy will probably take longer to over come WD's. We're talking maybe 2-3 days, but that's a long time when you are feeling sick.
Can anyone tell me the difference between tylenol 3 and hydrocodone, I understand the hydrocodone is a synthetic of codeine, but as far a strength of tylenol 3 vs one 5mg vicodin? What is the addiction factor, what is worse codeine or hydrocodone? Just curious..
) when I first tried to stop using pills, I went to a detox center and took suboxone for 7 or 8 days, they gradually tapered my intake so that when I left I wasn't on them anymore but I had pretty much detoxed off of pills. I wasn't 100% ready at the time though as I relapsed. The next time I was determined to quit and I did some research, found doctors online that can prescribe suboxone. The doctor with whom I went to was an addiction specialist, who drug tested me every time I saw him.
in my opinion is certain criteria for one considering suboxone..first of all suboxone stays in your system alot longer than hydros..are you considering suboxone..your friend..
Suboxone should be concidered a temporary aid, although I guess I could understand someone useing it forever, if they can never resolve their addiction problem. Fact is, the odds of lasting recovery are not in our favor, with or without N/A or AA. I would rather see someone on Sub for life than dieing from opiate abuse.
I know someone who is taking suboxone and swears by it. Also though, it's 2nd or 3rd time quitting for him. Each time he had the suboxone. I'm also dependant on Cymbalta ( anti-depressant) I started taking this to combat the withdrawl symptoms. Is suboxone going to be another dependancy? Do you have to take it forever?
Im tappering I went cold turkey and I didn't get out of bed for 4 days I was real depressed and wanted to die. If I can't taper Im going to a suboxone program for a week and work with specialists. Its hard but at least your admitting it. Its horrible to be this way. The last time in my life i was pill free was 18 years old thats when i was happy and enjoying life now my life revolves around a pill and its sad that I can't function with out one. I just turned 32 in Feb.
Are these any better? I take 2-8 a day. They don't give me the same high as HC or Vicodin, but I have heard they are still addictive. Any advice?
