Suboxone vs tramadol

Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone vs tramadol

suboxone

Avatar m tn Yesterday i was prescribed tramadol by a different doctor for my pain and migraine. What i need to know is if it is OK to take tramadol while i am on suboxone? i am afraid that if i take tramadol tonight, the next morning when i dose my suboxone i will feel a very discomfort feeling or withdrawal. I have been searching for answers everywhere but i was never have an accurate answer. i never wanna ask my subs doctor because it's worthless and no nothing except writing subs script.
Avatar f tn t know this for a fact, but I would be willing to bet that Suboxone would override Tramadol, resulting in no real effect from Tramadol. Both Suboxone and Tramadol are active at the mu receptor on the brain. Since Suboxone has a very high affinity for this receptor, it would already have the receptor full and I doubt that Tramadol would kick it out. The chances of going into withdrawal are very high. My advice would be not to mix the two, but check with your doctor before you make a decision.
Avatar f tn I figured that since I’m on suboxone, it would’ve just thrown the tramadol off and I would’ve been fine to take it, but wasn’t brave enough to find out and wasn’t able to find any answer online.
Avatar f tn You would need to ask your prescriber or your pharmacist about the potential for interaction. I honestly don’t know. I would not advise taking suboxone after any opioid type pain medication unless you have cleared it with your doctor.
Avatar f tn i took 30 tramadol a day. what is the typical suboxone dose for that amount of use?
1081265 tn?1256138365 Suboxone poses a much more lengthly withdrawal than does Tramadol. It would not be wise to begin Suboxone and I hope you haven't... Also, the main reason you don't want to quit Tramadol cold turkey is because of the high risk of seizures... Good luck.
403399 tn?1201833095 The only reason why Tramadol (Ultracet, Ultram, etc.) is not considered a narcotic is because at the moment it is unscheduled in the USA and pretty much everywhere else. It is fairly new being researched and first put on the market in the 90's.
Avatar n tn I was taking tramadol prior to being placed on suboxone and then subutex. Tramadol has its similarities to opiates, but is not a true opiate. I am unsure of how the subutex might actually work -vs- how it works against your normal opiate. Any experience with the drug Ultram/Tramdol? However, before taking tramadol I was on every opiate known to man in extreme dosages for years. I was actually happy to be off of the opiates, but then the tramadol (ultram) became a major problem.
Avatar m tn On Sunday, July 20th, 2014, I took two tramadol tablets in a.m. 50 Mill each. Was 1st day not feeling suboxone WD's, and 1st day with-out any subox at all. Monday.... same thing. Two tablets of tramadol in a.m., no suboxone. Yesterday I took 1&1/2 tablets of tramadol and did same thing today. So...today is day 4 with no suboxone. Now... I decide to research tramadol and came across these horror stories. S**T, I thought I found an answer.
Avatar f tn Has any one had experience with taking suboxone SHORT TERM, (4 days) for withdrawal symptoms from tramadol. I used suboxone to help with the withdrawal symptoms of oxicodone over a year ago. It helped alot. They got me through that ring of fire. But I was perscribed tramadol over a month ago for back pain from an injury @ work. I no longer have the pain, all healed up, but I can not make it through the day with out the tramadole.
Avatar f tn I have been off Suboxone for 10 days and taking 150 mg of Tramadol per day for the past 5 days. I thought I was starting to feel better but now am just still so sick. I have 2 children to take care of one who is an infant. I feel like giving up..... Is the tramadol prolonging my withdrawl symptoms? Should I stop? Or should I just call my Dr. and go back on Suboxone but less mg. I was taking 4 mg of Suboxone per day. I don't know if I can go on like this. How long until I feel better?
Avatar f tn Absolutely broke my heart. Then I watched him suffer getting off of the Tramadol. But he did go to a Suboxone doctor and he is doing fantastic this medication saved my son's life. As soon as the doctor had given him his medication he was back to himself within 20 minutes. I was amazed. Suboxone Subutex has saved so many lives. It did save my son's life. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn ga is right most doctors will not prcribe sub for tram addiction we have had a few members find a doctor to do it but its few and far between.Tapering is by far the best way to get off tram as ga said .You can do it .How much are you taking how long have you been on it .
Avatar f tn We did tried tapering down but was very hard, the pain was horrible, the flu like symptoms were so bad, diarrhea, vomiting, what’s worst depression and I felt like I can’t breathe. Please someone help let me know if easy stoping tramadol with suboxone was. Thank you.
Avatar m tn ve called every treatment center in my area that treats opiod dependence with suboxone. When I say I need treatment for tramadol dependecy they tell me tramadol is not an opiate and they don't treat for it. I reallu need to find some help. I've been tapering off but I know I'm gonna need some extra help. Does anyone know if there is another route I can go to get suboxone?
Avatar n tn i substituted Tramadol for the disconmfort and Now cannot stop taking that! i am thinking i should be on suboxone after all??? My sponsor says no, just use her and the program. I have access to tramadol, and I want to be CLEAN again! I tried to do Thomas 's recipe but an't cut back! yet. I hat withdrawals and I can't handle athe anxiety part. I HAVE to go to work but o feel like checking into a motel by myself and detoxing so my family won't see me go through this.
Avatar m tn Tomorrow I throw away my tramadol and replace it with suboxone (i think). There are so many possible things that could happen. Realistically, though, what are the most likely reactions i will feel?
Avatar f tn the brain zaps are very infrequent, and I usually feel okay on just 2mgs of Suboxone a day. I want to stop taking the Sub when the withdrawal from Tramadol should be over, but I heard that Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than opiates. I'm getting excited because I might not even need an SSRI, as I am feeling much better from the Serotonin withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn I used heroin for 8 years & was doing about 2 grams a day. For me I had to go into a detox facility & did a medical withdrawal & am currently on suboxone. I got clean finally in June, but that was after 17 treatment centers. I could not do it on my own. I am in sober living & working the steps with a sponsor. Once you get through the detox you will feel so much better, even though it seems impossible right now.
Avatar f tn I have 6 pills left, and EVERYTHING I have read says that Ultram and Suboxone are prescribed together, and that taking Suboxone too soon after Ultram WILL NOT throw you into precipitated withdrawal. But of course there is always the one commentor who says "of course it will, Ultram is an opiate, blah blah blah." So I'm scared to death I'll make it worse. I was just hoping that giving my body a little bit of Serotonin here and there will take away the zaps. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn hi guys, i am in need for major help! i am an addict of 17 yrs and i am currently in the suboxone program. my story is a long painful one as is most addicts, i started using many street drugs, always in combo's such as oxi, xanax, meth, etc. i have tried quitting many times only to fail and fall back straight from the gate and end up 100x worse than before!
