1476285 tn?1287337784 Hi earthwarrior, I'm on Tripple treatment with Vivtrellis. I started one month ago, and have just been taking the 3rd drug, Victrillis for 4 days. I take 16 MG of Suboxone a day. 8MG in the morning; 8 in the afternoon. The first month of starting treatment i felt the suboxone wasn't helping me. I'd wake up feeling sick. I felt I needed more suboxone. Once I started the Victrillis, I didn't feel a need for more Suboxone.
1476285 tn?1287337784 I, too, am on Suboxone. I am afraid of being able to start treatment and still be on Suboxone, as Suboxone is filtered through the liver. The reality is setting in and I am totally, utterly, and devastatingly scared!!! I never thought I would ever get this kind of news. I also have Crohn's disease and am in the middle of college. I am now finishing up my sophomore year in college and will be starting at the University in the fall.
306867 tn?1299249709 Doctors who prescribe Suboxone for addiction treatment DO sign a statement promising to keep below the capped number of patients, to have the ability to refer for therapy and to refer if indicated, to keep track of quantities of pills prescribed to prevent diversion, and a few other things-- but the absolute frequency of visits is not one of the things spelled out. As in other areas of medicine, doctors are guided by the 'standard of care' in their area-- i.e.
Avatar m tn I have had three major back surgeries for which I was using strong opioids for two years. Started taking 16mg of Suboxone, Worked that down to 2mg and now I cut the tab in half for 1mg per day. Can a pharmacist custom make me even smaller doses so I can completely rid myself of taking this medication? Suboxone is very potent so a small does goes a long way, I need to find a way to take it is still smaller doses so I can stop taking it without getting sick. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn , morphine, OxyContin) using regulated amounts of Suboxone, and I also detox my patients from Suboxone addiction when that drug has been misused. I have found that the optimal time to have someone on Suboxone is between 20 and 25 days, tapering down on the medication every few days. This makes the physical symptoms of detox very manageable, without causing the patient to become cross-addicted to Suboxone.
480035 tn?1222366164 09, 2009) – The Waismann Method, leaders of opiate detoxification under anesthesia, announced an increase in patients seeking treatment for dependency to Suboxone®, also known as Subutex® or Buprenorphine from 2007 to 2008. Avatar f tn Suboxone was approved by the FDA for short-term use only - not for use in chronic pain patients. It contains both a potent synthetic opiate (narcotic) and partial opiate blocker. It's intended use is to prevent withdrawal symptoms in anyone who is dependent on narcotics, be it from a necessary therapeutic use for pain, or addiction and abuse. Because of the partial opiate blocker, it is a bad medication for chronic pain patients (in my opinion anyway).
Avatar n tn i suffer from chronic pain ive been on narcotics for 10 years my new dr says he has patients that take suboxone for pain and it helps there pain but they dont get the high, i dont care about the high i want my pain controlled, does anyone know if suboxone really works on pain im scared to try something new.even though the dr sas it works id rather hear it from someone who takes it. i currently take oxycodone30 and methadone 10 for my pain.
Avatar f tn Please do your research. Most people who have been through Suboxone/Subutex treatment say they wish they never did it. The withdrawals are longer, meaner, and just more taxing on the body. You are just substituting one opiate (your drug of choice) for a much stronger opiate that has a crazy-long half life that binds to receptors so strongly, that withdrawals usually take months until you are feeling back to close to normal. IMO - not worth it.
199177 tn?1490498534 In October 2002, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved two buprenorphine products (Suboxone® and Subutex®) for the treatment of narcotic addiction. Both products are high dose (2 mg and 8 mg) sublingual (under the tongue) tablets: Subutex® is a single entity buprenorphine product and Suboxone® is a combination product with buprenorphine and naloxone in a 4:1 ratio, respectively.
Avatar n tn my 23 year old son has been on Suboxone treatment for threemonths and he just got laid off from his job and will be loosing his insurance does anyone know how to get suboxone for free or at least at a miuch reduced cost???
1405767 tn?1282634598 The FDA only approved Suboxone for short-term use to help people detox from their drug of choice - 21 days. It is composed of an opiate (brand name Subutex) and a partial opiate antagonist. In layperson speak, the Subutex fills the opiate receptors in your brain, but the antagonist ingredient "repels" more opiates from jumping on the bandwagon. The negative consequences of taking more opiates on top of the Suboxone is that patients will actually experience precipitated withdrawal.

Avatar f tn I thought we would have to wait at least a few weeks but we actually know the person that handles the suboxone patients and she helped us out to get in earlier which is awsome. I am really nervous about sunday because we've been goin strong for a year or two. when we could do 6 or more 80mg's a day and not feel a thing then it's time to stop. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. Anyone have advice, positive experiences with suboxone?
Avatar f tn They are combined together to prevent inter-venous abuse of this medication. In the US this Suboxone has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of drug addiction. However many individuals who start using it to treat their addiction, become addicted to Suboxone itself. If you want to find a doctor who prescribes Suboxone to treat opioid addiction all you have to do is go on Suboxone.com website to locate one.
