Suboxone taper schedule

Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone taper schedule

suboxone

Can anyone give me a successful suboxone taper chart or schedule? I've been on 32mg but i've cut myself down to 24mg a day. Tomorrow i am going to jump down to 16mg. I would like to make myself a schedule to successfully get off sub. I am ready to. I don't want to use anymore and i'm ready to feel normal without anything. i've been doing very well so far. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Without knowing how long you were using and exactly how much and of what you were using, its kind of difficult to give you a straight answer. I have personally not ever seen a Suboxone taper schedule that lasted only 10days. The shortest schedule I have seen was for 30days and that was for a motorcycle accident victim that ended up with a BKA(below knee amputation) that had been on Hydrocodone 10mg/every day/3 times a day/for about one year.
How long is it recomended to taper off of 16 mg's of SUB a day? and what is the schedule? recomended time? dose reduction to taper down per week? month?
I am currently taking only 2mgs per day. MY surgery is in 3 weeks. Any advice on a taper schedule would be great. Thanks in advance.
Well, as luck would have it, a relative has some Phenergan (anti-nausea pills) they'll let me have for the taper. What I'm looking for is advice on a taper schedule -- I have 21 1/2 - 8Mg Suboxone. I'm thinking about doing it slow -- a 3 week taper, but I'm not sure how much I should cut back and how often to do so to avoid getting WDs (or as little as possible), but not having WDs from the Suboxone either.
I've had a couple of people emailing and asking what my Suboxone taper was. Here it is for those interested. If you have any questions, feel free to ask..but, it could be a day or so until I respond because of my work schedule. Day 1-16mg Day 2-16mg Day 3-16mg Day 4-16mg Day 5-8mg Day 6-8mg Day 7-8mg Day 8-8mg Day 9-4mg Day 10-4mg Day 11-4mg Day 12-4mg Day 13-2mg Day 14-2mg Day 15-2mg Day 16-2mg As you can see, I reduced every 4 days.
My question is should I be put on a weening schedule or put on suboxone. I have read alot of negative stuff about suboxone. I don't know what to do please help.
Do you have enough pills to taper? If you do contact avisg and ask her to set up a taper schedule. You can do this. Don't lose hope. Are there other sub doctors that you can call?
I am following other people here suggest on Taper schedule, good so far. I guess my question is, should I be feeling/experiencing more? Thank You All!!!!
Hi Kova, Yes, one of the long term members on this site is very knowledgeable on this stuff and helped me to write a schedule to taper off my Oxy in 2 weeks --- I cut from 140 mg/day to 70 then got 20 8mg tabs of Sub from another addict. Then this 'helper' made me a 21 day schedule to taper off the Sub. We emailed every day giving me encouragement, answers, and when I needed it - kicked my butt. I would never let her down by relapsing ---- she invested much time in my recovery.
Welcome, If you want to do this correctly I need to suggest that you see a doctor, discuss your options and, if you choose Suboxone then do it correctly. Suboxone is NOT a means to avoid withdrawal. It is a complete program. If you follow the program correctly you can have success with your recovery. But I have to tell you, if you continue to self-medicate, you risk relapse. So what I am saying is if you are going to do this, do it right. I hope you consider seeing a doctor.
I also think it is a good question as I am seriously considering going on it myself. My doctor who has been prescribing for me the last eight years has suddenly decided he wants to taper my meds and I am talking a "fast taper". It has me scared to death. I am thinking about going to a pain management doctor and see about going on Suboxone. I have been on Methadone and Oxycodone for 10 years now, and then 10 years before that on hydrocodone.
I have a supplier and access to him so I can go as slow as needed. Please provide a taper schedule that will allow me to work through it. No one knows about addiction and can't go to clinic or through serious withdrawals. Is that even possible? In the meantime I have started to try to take 1/2 roxicet and swallow other half. I am doing that every 1.5 hrs at a minimum and am going to try to stretch out the time inbetween doses. Thank you for your help.
Please monitor your question for replies, because there are many wonderful people on here that can help both with taper suggestions and how the initial use of suboxone can effect you. Too much, too little? People will need to know what your supply of suboxone is. You said a weeks worth, so is that 7 2mg pills, 14 2mg pills? How many 2 mg pills? Suboxone is probably best used under the guidance of a doctor/psychiatrist.
For the past 2 years I've been on methadone and I tapered down to 20 mgs and then switched to suboxone last Friday. For the past 6 days I've been on 12 mg of suboxone and I want to taper off slowly but don't know how slow. Does anyone have ne advice?
Welcome and congrats on your journey to get clean! Your absolute best bet is to talk with your doctor regarding a taper schedule. Everyone is different and since you are under a doctor's care, it is best to continue with his/her advise. In the upper right hand corner of this page is a section called "health pages". In there is the "Thomas Recipe" which contains items to help ease the withdrawal process. Best of luck to you both and let us know how you are doing.
Is that doable? and If so what tapering schedule would you recommend (like how many mgs should i jump down and how long do i need to hold)? i was going down 2.5 mgs every 2 days to speed it up and have not been in too much discomfort. Is there any advice you can give me on any spcial diet I should be eating, supplements, etc? Thank you for your time Dr. and have a great day! I look forward to your response!
2) is there some magic order in which you should take these combinations of drugs to keep all the withdrawal symptoms at bay? 3) are slow tapers better? What would a reasonable taper schedule look like to keep withdrawal symptoms at a minimum? (I have a 2 year old son that I must care for and can't be running around the house anxious when needing to bathe him and feed him!) 4) my PCP told me that it might be best to seek out a suboxone doctor.
you dont want methadone and you shouldnt need suboxone...'your on a fairly low dose, i am not one that usually gives out taper schedules...but you can try dropping 5 mgs off your dose every week so it will be a comfortable taper plan.., go slow with it if you have the time and you should do fine... maybe someone else will jump in with some advice.... good luck to you...
Try to get down to taking 1 mg pieces then switch to the liquid taper method. Just look it up on your favorite search engine. The liquid suboxone taper.
Does anyone out there know of a taper schedule for hydrocodone? Something that is slow and works that others will not really notice the person is going through? I have found a taper schedule for benzodiazapines at http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/bzcha01.htm but have never found anything other than the Thomas Recipe which is for going cold turkey off of the Vicodin. Any info would be appreciated.
i been taking suboxone 8mgs for almost 2 weeks and i just wanted to take it to get off of herion and now i want to stop the suboxone .
Can anyone please confirm or point me in another taper schedule to consider? PS...I went cold turkey off suboxone a few years back and almost died. It was 9 weeks of HELL and I want to do it right this time. Please help if you can...thank you.
Per Dr. Junig "A physician is allowed to dispense, not prescribe, opiates each day for a maximum of three days to treat withdrawal. But it is illegal to prescribe a taper of a schedule II narcotic. " Its called the Harrison Act and the Dr. could loose his/her licenses for doing this.
There are some great suggestions in these posts. But if you could suggest a "best chance for success" schedule for tapering off of oxy-contins, without methadone or suboxone, just using oxycontin. I'm medicating with 30 mg little blue generic doses and my pain has subsided so well I'd like to discontinue although I've been using the medicine for 2 years. Currently I have to medicate with one whole pill (since a half won't do much) every 4 hours which is when discomfort sets in.
I really suggest that you speak with your doctor and get on a proper taper schedule. that was a huge jump and if the withdrawal kicks in, it will kick in hard. At least if you taper it won't hit you all at once. I hate to see that you come this far and not make it, know what I mean? So since you did come this far and you are feeling good, get off them the right way. You don't want any stumbling blocks in your path.
