Avatar n tn s again and get off the Suboxone for the surgery? I know Sub blocks opiates.. but dont know about the gas to make you go to sleep for a surgery. I am hoping for a nerve block to manage the post operative pain. As I want to really get the opiates out of my life, But my pain is soo bad.. I cant walk/shop for groceries, stand to do dishes and take care of my house and its effecting my sleep.
Avatar m tn Hello, First of all, definitely tell them when you get to surgery about the Suboxone. I had minor surgery scheduled back in June and when I wrote down on the pre-op forms that I took Suboxone daily, they would NOT do the surgery that day as they were not prepared to put me fully out, etc.
142722 tn?1281533616 Suboxone Pregnancy There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of SUBOXONE (a Category C medication) in pregnancy. SUBOXONE should not be taken during pregnancy unless your doctor determines that the potential benefit to you justifies the potential risk to your unborn child. Contraception should be used while taking SUBOXONE. If you are considering becoming pregnant or do become pregnant while taking SUBOXONE, consult your doctor immediately.
Avatar f tn Meantime of course became addicted to pain pills. On Suboxone for past 2 months. My addiction therapist said when I have the surgery, i need to take the pain medicine that is prescribed AS prescribed, then go back on the Subs. I am so very relieved to finally know what is wrong but anxious about putting all of this time into the Subs and then having to go off and then on again.........viscious circle.
Avatar f tn My question is will the suboxone after day six post surgery give me enough pain control instead of the opioids. I plan on returning to suboxone although part of me wishes i could stay off of it and have not pain. I hope someone can answer my question. thank you.
Avatar f tn I took Suboxone Saturday morning I have surgery Monday evening I want to know if it'll be safe to have my surgery then I'm not prescribed Suboxone but someone gave me one for alcohol withdrawals
Avatar n tn I am suppose to have breast implants put in in one month and i am freaking out that it is going to hurt like crazy. I have been on suboxone for seven years now and don't know if there will be anything strong enough to touch the pain after my surgery. I think I have bulit up such a resistence to opiates. Is there anything I can take after the surgery to help with the pain?
Avatar n tn Buprenorphine will block most analgesic dosages of narcotic pain medication for anywhere from 3-7 days after your last dose of sub. While on suboxone, I had surgery and was instructed to stop my sub 7 days prior to surgery. But again, this is unique to our individual states of health. Jaybay, I just wanted to mention... the naloxone in the suboxone formula is actually inert when sub is taken orally.
3688816 tn?1358475297 My last back surgery I was also on suboxone and came off 7 days before and took the pain meds I was prescribed however I got lucky and the doctor I had actually knew a lot about suboxone which is actually very rare. But please tell you doctor ASAP about this and they will tell you what to do but whatever you do do not try and hide it from them.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 1/8 of an 8mg tablet of suboxone for about one year. I have dental surgery coming up and was told by the DR I would be on percocet after the fact. I do not see a DR for the suboxone, lets just say I regulated myself on the dose. I have researched every where and cannot find a clear cut answer as to how long it will take to feel the effects of the percocet.... I just do not want to be in pain. Some people (Rph) have said that its up to 17days??
Avatar f tn Because of the very long half-life (72 hours), this should be done at least a week before the surgery. Then I have them stop the Suboxone three days before the surgery; it usually takes 2-3 days for significant withdrawal to develop. I say all of this to give a general sense of the issues involved; people should discuss the issue with their physician rather than act on what I am describing here.
Avatar f tn This facility does not do suboxone (she got her previous bit of suboxone illegally), but rather naltrexone. They do not do implants, just pills and Vivtrol. My first question is whether she will be able to take the naltrexone immediately--it will have been 11 days since she took the Suboxone, the only time she has taken it. I hear one is supposed to wait 14 days, but as it was just once and a low dose, I am wondering whether an 11 day waiting time is sufficient.
Avatar f tn I have been on Suboxone now for 13 weeks (8mg-2mg) I was on Hydromophine, Percocent, then Oxycotin for 5 years. I had a mini Gastric Bypass in (03) a revision in (04) Because the doctor Screwed up. I went from 235 to 109 in 3 MONTHS. I was put on Vioxx but that didnt work for the pain. In order for me to eat or drink like a normal person without pain the doctor put me on Pain Killers and I of course got stuck on it.
Avatar m tn Got out of the hospital waited 12hrs took my Suboxone. Been taking it for a week. Still feeling surgery effects and I have these weird withdrawl like symptoms. One minute the hairs on my neck stand up, the next im sweating only minor, then I get nausea, then I feel shaky. Its been 8 days since surgery. Could I really be going thru withdrawls, off those meds they gave me in an IV at the hospital??? But I am taking 16mg of Subutex since I started back up that day I got out of the Hospital.
Avatar m tn I sa the TV show Dateline and they did a piece on Subone and there were Herion addicts taking it and feeling great and habe their lives back together. So 33 days later I was indused with Suboxone. I prayed and prayed for the Lord to leading me to this. At the time it was as I was sent a gift from the Heavens above. The following July I had to have foot surgery due to tumors of Dupuytren's Contacture Disease. My small finger on my left hand was drawed inward and frozen there.
Avatar n tn Please you seem very knowledgable, I have one quick question. I have been taking 1/8 of an 8mg tablet of suboxone for about one year. I have dental surgery coming up and was told by the DR I would be on percocet after the fact. I do not see a DR for the suboxone, lets just say I regulated myself on the dose. Avatar m tn You're asking a complicated question. If you've tried several times to stop and have faced unrelenting cravings that have sabotaged your recovery then maybe there's a place for it. Then there's two ways to use it in a treatment plan. Short term, over several days to a couple weeks and long term, six months to a year. My recovery plan was based on the long term strategy coupled with a year-long out-patient treatment plan.
Avatar f tn I was on suboxone for about a year and a half.... then had to have surgery and i stopped the suboxone and want to stay off...i get from alot of threads that thats the consensus ... but i am on pain meds after and taking them correctly however am so afraid to stop...been off the suboxone for about 2 weeks and had some crappy wd but now i am concerned that i am going to go thru wd again??? I have gone thru them before off differant crap however i am not so sure why am scared of this.....
Avatar n tn Suboxone can stay in your system for 2 days, if you take any pain medicine now you will not feel it. Because of the suboxone still being in your system, suboxone has a blocker in it which blocks any opiates that an addict may take so they will not have any effect to it, only effect will be getting seriously nauseous!! I would wait atleast 2 days!! Good luck!
Avatar f tn t any doctors here to give u advise. Did u tell ur sub doctor tht u were having the surgery? I am on suboxone and I just had a hysterectomy last month and I made sure I let my suboxone Dr kno as soon as I found out I was having the surgery. We came up with a plan for me to stop the suboxone and start the dilaudid ( my pain med for surgery) and when I wasn't in pain anymore start the subs again.
Avatar f tn Because he was an uniformed dr. I had surgery taking suboxone and was able to use the subs as my pain medicine afterwards? Along with Motrin 800mg. Your dr didn't know any better.
Avatar f tn Im on suboxone and I take 3 quarters a day of the tablets, im getting all four of my wisdom teeth removed and will be sedated, they are doing a IV and local anesthesia. I do not want to tell the surgeon because they will look at me differently. What should i do taper myself to a quarter a day and then not do any the day before and of the surgery? What should i do and will i be ok if i do that?
Avatar n tn My son was injured in a football game when he was 17. He had back surgery at that time. (In retrospect, probably a mistake) He is now 26 and has been on some type of opiate for 8 years. He is now taking 40 mg of Oxycotin twice daily plus Oxycodone (dosage unknown). I recently discovered that he was injecting the Oxycotin. After many long talks, he says he is now ready to detox. A facility in Nashville has described their program as a 4 day inpatient detox.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone ... I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Suboxone helps with Chronic Pain? I've had 3 lumbar fusion's since 2016. I've got osteoarthritis in my lower back, severe nerve damage, spinal stenosis, failed back surgery syndrome, edema in both hips. I'm having a bit of trouble in pain management. Anyway... I was Just wondering if anyone Has taken suboxone for chronic pain? And if so, has it helped you at all? Thanks a bunch!!
Avatar f tn Always one to correct wrong information for people reading in the future. Suboxone contains "Buprenorphine" which is a Partial Opiate Agonist.(or your could say, a partial opiate, I suppose.) and "Naloxone" which is a Complete Opiate Antagonist.(blocker) NOT "a potent synthetic opiate (narcotic) and partial opiate blocker." In England, they are allowed to prescribe Subutex (Suboxone without the Naloxone) and Suboxone for pain.
