Hi Courty - Like Phoenix mentioned methadone or suboxone will be harder to come off of. I too have no experience but have read hundreds of posts here that state this. The longer you read and stick around the more you will learn. I'm sure someone with experience will post very soon. The people here are great and the information & support they offer are invaluable. Anyway I have been taking subox for about 9 months just recently my feet and ankles have started swelling up extremely, just wondered if that has happened to anyone else. You are in a tough spot. The opiate in Suboxone is very strong - Buprenorphine. It was originally used as a pain killer - I believe in what is called Talwin. Anyway, Suboxone is not approved for treatment of pain, but buprenorphine is. The halflife is much longer than codeine or oxycontin, but it is much harder to stop taking once you are dependent. I don't know why your doctor would think that you won't get tolerance to suboxone, if you take it long enough, you will.

However, with the half life (amount of time the drug stays in your system) of suboxone, some type of wd is probably inevitable. try plan your jump at a time when you can take care of just yourself if possible. Buy some epsom salt and take some hot baths. Buy Emergenc C for vitamin support and take it twice a day. really push fluids for hydration. take calcium / magnesium / zinc for achy bones and restless legs.

i have a quick question. has anyone on this site attended phoenix house for rehab? i'm getting admitted on dec.4th, i've read the manual and spoke with a "completer". the program can take up to a year, and from what i understand, is pretty demanding. i'm going no matter what, as i have lost complete control of my life and want it back. i just want to know what to expect as far as the demanding part entails, i've never done well with authority.
