Suboxone for dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone for dogs

suboxone

Avatar n tn Buprenorphine is frequently prescribed to dogs and cats for pain. However the doses are typically below 1 milligram, and suboxone doses are all over 1 mg.
Avatar f tn It is also prescribed to dogs for pain by a vet, so he/she should be fine, but the thing is suboxone does slow down respitory rate, so keep an eye on your dogs breathing. Dogs breathe anywhere from 18-32 bpm/breaths per minute, & suboxone is a long lasting medicine ethically in dogs because it is absorbed more slowly, so I would watch he/she for already 24-48 hours.
Avatar m tn my little ****-zu, braylin is one year old and 8 pounds and i am almost positive he ate one of my 2mg suboxone pills that fell out of my pocket as i stood up. this happened about 15 minutes ago and i am wondering what i should do to get this situation under control and keep my little buddy safe!!! he is fine right now and playing around, wrestling and running with my other 2 dogs. please help!
Avatar f tn Hi there. I was on Suboxone for many years and have been off of it for two years. And i will tell you this: I went they wd from my pills soooo many times I lost count. I always went back to using, and did so rather quickly. I never stayed clean for long. Sunoxone gave me time.
Avatar f tn Hi martint1955, First, I want to welcome you to the PM (Pain Management) Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with our own expertise and experiences that we have developed through our own CP Issues. I'm sorry that you are having trouble finding a Doctor to prescribe what you think you need for your pain. From everything that I've read on the patch it is the very same medication that Suboxone is.
Avatar n tn Has anyone else here gone on the suboxone for chronic pain relief. This is what my doc is using it for on me-I see most of you are on it for detox....I was wanting of fthe dilaudud as I was afraid of becoming addicted.(And was constipated all the time so he put me on naltrexone for the chronic constipation I was on.Ended up in hospital 4-6x for this.,the naltrexone worked great to help me go also using the miralax as added supplement.
1800740 tn?1324237171 And you also need to be, I believe, on a lower dose than 30 mg. I think (and gnarly will post on this, I'm sure) that to go from methadone to sub, you shouldn't be higher than 20 mg. methadone. It seems to me there are a LOT of doctors prescribing suboxone that are only in it for the cash. It's something that needs monitoring, and the first dose should be given at the doctor's office.
478417 tn?1208547207 I am scheduled for surgery on 4/17 to repair a joint in my second toe on my right foot. I have been on Suboxone 24mg per day for over 1 year. I am really scared of the pain after surgery. Does anyone know what I could take that is NON-NARCOTIC that will not interact with the Suboxone that I take???? I have talked to my sponser and serveral other people in recovery. I do plan on attending more NA meetings during my initial recovery.
Avatar f tn Someone on here told me about a website where I could find Doctors in my area who will subscribe suboxone.....Unfortunently I cant remember the name of the Site, or the person who gave it to me. Anyone know? My boyfriend was planning on trying to get in to see a Doctor to get them tomarrow, but now I've read on hear that Suboxone is addictive as well and am hessitant now....Is it worth the risk?
274158 tn?1276347187 Not towards me. Just other dogs......I thought he was showing aggression towards my daughter, but he was just trying to sniff her crotch! He is gross! I guess that's what dogs do! But, no agression towards us humans, just dogs, which isn't fun....
Avatar m tn From watching my daughter, I would not recommend Suboxone for long term. If it will get you off the drug you are currently on and you know you will only be on it short term, then yes. Suboxone made my daughter's life normal, (Fentyl patch for 3-5 yrs) but she has been going through withdrawals for 16 days today from Suboxone. It has been hard to watch.
Avatar f tn But financially, for well being, to save my relationship, etc... I HAVE GOT to quit for good this time!!! I ended up getting divorced in 2010 mainly because we were both heavily addicted and numb and the marriage ended up falling apart.. And I'm not willing to lose this one too! So I went on a scheduled vacation like a week n a half ago and planned it so I would run out of them the second day there... No way of gettin more, figured this should be my best shot...
Avatar n tn DOGS CANNOT TAKE DECONGESTANTS!!!! They cannot metabolize them. If your dogs ears are that bad they are in need of antibiotic and antifungals. You can ask your vet to prescribe an antibiotic like cephalexin and an antifungal like fluconazole both which can be called into a walmart in your area and they are on the $4 generic list so it keeps cost down. As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them.
Avatar n tn As far as I'm aware, benadry is safe for quite a long time in dogs. The general doggy dosage is 1 mg/ per pound, so that's what your vet has prescribed - most people tend to go too low on the dosage. Using it for only the summer months should be no problem at all. I had a dog who needed it a good 8 months or more of every year and it never caused any trouble. Hope it works well for your Bostie!
Avatar m tn Are there painkillers for dogs that are safe? Tramadol caused my 11 year old chow chow Emily to have seizures after two days 4 pills and the Rimadyl side effects I just read here are equally as bad. Both were give to her by her vet of six years. If anyone has any ideas please contact me at ***@****. Thank you.
Avatar m tn so im not on this forum for one day and i come back to see many of you have now turned into dogs and my sister is an ogre, so thank god she adopted me and we look nothing alike, lmao. IBKleen is you are now a mouse, haha. hey IB, remember you called me christ, well since your my mom, your pic should be of the virgin mary, lmao. hope you all are well this evening.
Avatar f tn I initially went on suboxone for opioid withdrawal three years ago and stayed on it for pain management for my condition of multiple sclerosis that can be very painful at times. I stopped the suboxone one week prior to having a breast augmentation which contained alot of scar tissue and needed the implants replaced. I am currently on opioids for the pain connected to the surgery and I am still experiencing alot of pain, assuming It is coupled with my ms pain.
442658 tn?1563386491 my 41/2 old pup had a hernia repair and spay. she came home with a bottle of tramadols 50mg. i didn t know dogs could take them esp a pup. i don t think she needs them cos she s running around and eating well. i ve had other dogs that have had surgeries and they have never been given pain meds. i just find this strange........
Avatar f tn My doctor has kept me on Suboxone at 8 mg for 7 months and doesn't say anything about tapering down, she doesn't take insurance so it's self pay and its adding up!! She won't even give refills, can I start tapering down on my own??
Avatar f tn At this point i get i dont have to take every 4 hrs, especially after experiencing the suboxone. Can i stop suboxone and go to percocet....
306455 tn?1288862071 This question is for anyone who has been on Sub and gotten off it without going back to pain pills etc. After ther withdrawals from the Suboxone, did/do you find you have cravings for the Sub? Or are you back to having bad cravings for pain pills (or doc)? Or no cravings? Guess I'll do this as a poll. After you stopped Suboxone, do you.....
Avatar n tn My PC mentioned the suboxone and I have not heard of it being good for this. I worked with a Dr. that help pts detox off of drugs with suboxone.
Avatar m tn Ive heard of some people who use injections of buprenex which Id imagine is for quite severe pain, but suboxone isnt really designed for pain management more for getting off of opiates. Wish you all the best, look into as many different methods as possible, there are others out there that can replace opiates.
