1548080 tn?1293869794 Buprenorphine is the active ingredient in both Subutex and Suboxone. It is a synthetic opiate with a long half life of some 36 hours. It is supposed to be used only as a short-term tool along with a detox and rehab recovery program under a doctor's supervision. The idea with Suboxone is to stop cravings and the harmful behavior that stems from your use and pursuit of a high from illegal drug abuse.
Avatar f tn I think you are a poor candidate for suboxone. Suboxone is an extremely strong partial agonist opiate. That's the reason it takes away withdrawals. It's roughly 50 - 100 more powerful than morphine. Being a partial agonist opiate means it doesn't have all the characteristics of a full agonist. Characteristics like respiratory depression and euphoria. It does have the characteristic of dependence. It's considered one one the most difficult opiates to stop using.
Avatar m tn Hi Folks! I been on various painmeds for almost 5years now. I also been on Suboxone but it gave me no painrelief. After going off the Suboxone i was put on Vicoprofen 7.5/200mg 120 monthly. The Suboxone has really kicked my tolerance up. I'm having a hard time following the script. I went to my Doc. today and he wants me to start on Fentanyl. I tried this once before and i got very tired so i thought this is not going to work for me. If i remeber right they were 12mg patches.
Avatar m tn m with you on just about all of what you said. To go from Hydrocodone to Suboxone in retrospect seems absurd to me. Suboxone is many times more potent and the fact that one is reduced to 1 or 2 bowel movements a week another tragedy..Well I'm heading off it.
Avatar m tn It comes without the euphoria and respritory depression that full agonist opiates have but suboxone is still highly addictive. It can be very hard to stop using it. Getting off can be nearly impossible if not done properly. You also have some other medical conditions that may respond well to suboxone now but in a negative way later, like anxiety and depression. If you decide at some point that suboxone is no longer a benefit to you, you're facing a tough task getting off of it.
Avatar m tn ok so ive been doing heroin for about 2-3 months now almost a gram every 2days, and i have had seizures in the past actually a long history of them from my addiction on again off agian with xanax. recently i have felt in the middle of the night the euphoria that you get right before you have a seizure.that was always an indicator that i was going to have one. but luckly i didnt have a siezure yet. my question is i have 2 8mg suboxone sublingual strips left and i plan to get off this ****.
Avatar n tn I am SOOOO TIRED of stupid people giving bad advice about subutex because they mistake it for suboxone!! GRR!! I am in w.d and I need sound accurate information about subUTEX! My doctor gave me suboxone, told me to take it as close to the 2 day mark as i could. I did, 42 hours, and I went into precipitated withdrawls. mind you, i am coming off of 30mg methadone which stays in your system significantly longer than any other opiate.
Avatar f tn Anyone have experience with using neurontin for opiate w/ds? My dr. just prescribed me some. They're sitting at the pharmacy ready to pick up, just wondering. P.S. this is the same dr. that has been seeing me through a suboxone taper. I'm down to .25mg. and going to be "jumping" in about 3 wks. P.P.S. I've already got some supplies from the Thomas Recipe: multi-vitamin/mineral and potassium pills.
415399 tn?1209504302 and they are always received. Suboxone (buprenorphine) is unique in that it is in the narcotic class (meperidine family) - but in addition to agonist qualities it is self limiting with an antagonist property. After inputting so much of a dose the brain shuts off the receptors and will not uptake any more opiates.
Avatar m tn When I first created my profile, I was in the middle of a very strong addiction. I ended up getting clean by way of Suboxone, and did extremely well for 6-8 months. After that period, I ruptured a disc, and was put on hydrocodone off and on for a while. It was extremely painful, and honestly, I got no euphoria to speak of from the medicine. In October, 2011, I had surgery to remove the pulpous that ruptured. Of course, I was given post-op meds...
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, I'm just an internet dumb*ss who gets his jollies posting on forums when I should be doing real work.Don't read this unless you agree to take what I say with a grain of salt! And this is not me advising you -- it's just me saying what I would do if I was in your shoes. -------------- ----------------------don't peek past this line unless you agree! ------------------------- -------------- Allright, obviously you're totally hooked.
Avatar m tn However, they also do not give you the euphoria of the Oxys, they are both long lasting medications. Methadone needs to be taken daily at the clinic to which you will be tied to for the rest of your life, no vacations to Disney land. Suboxone is more expensive, you need to wait until you are experiencing some withdrawals before your first dose otherwise it will cause withdrawals, and it is extremely hard to get off of. On top of it, it is hardly without side effects, do your research.
8323481 tn?1405705654 The doctor prescribed suboxone, 3 tabs a day. There is no euphoria or a feeling of being high. I just feel some joy returning. I started to draw and sketch in treatment, which I have never done. Little things give me pleasure again....Our plan is to taper off the suboxone starting in 4-6 weeks... Thank you all for being here for me....your friend always....
Avatar m tn I actually felt euphoria from the sub....full of energy and in a great get up and go mood. It felt mood altering to me. I also only took it for about a month. I agree with the majority that the withdrawal from the sub was worse than from hydro. Took about 3 days to kick in but still having trouble sleeping a month later which was usually gone within a week with hydro w/d. I actually loved being on the sub and would have loved to be on it long term but realized I liked it too much!!
717440 tn?1292743742 the only difference with methadone WD is that they last much much longer than any other opiate, with maybe Suboxone being the exception. but i guess it would all depend on how long one has been taking them. i guess it may be possible to be on a very small dose for a very short amount of time and to avoid a lengthy withdrawal.
1196338 tn?1265163728 Hello, I am new to this community, I suppose I should tell you a littlebit about myself first.. Well, I am a CP patient who was in a MVA accident a couple of years ago, and have been taking opiates for my pain. I am a little shy to ask this because I don't want to be judged as being an addict or something, but I always thought that you could tell that a narcotic was working based on that warm fuzzy feeling you get..
Avatar f tn i feel amazing i am not like crazy happy but i am content and i am kind of anxious about how bad i will feel once the euphoria is gone
1358284 tn?1277930715 It really was not worth the four hours of euphoria. I find the irritability to be the most astonishing; the difference between mood cycles when on this medication and quitting cold turkey. I have been off this medication for about one week and two days to be exact after two years of on/off abuse and one year being excessive. So.. I'm going to discuss a treatment plan involving this medication with a doctor that is certified to deliver such a medication.
Avatar f tn Bupe is great for a break from the rush and euphoria to give time to build aftercare and deal with some of the reasons we use, but it is an opioid. What is your plan with the bupe, are you building a support system and coping skills? That is what will save you. Had I only used bupe and nothing else, I would be dead by now. So, what's your plan or are you here to get advice about a plan?
Avatar n tn You cant take pain pills then a subutex or suboxone. Who told you to do that? Subutex and suboxone are to be used when coming off opiates and you must wait from the time of your last use of opiates and wait until your in withdrawal and wait until u cant take it anymore then you take the subutex and youll feel better in less than an hour.
Avatar n tn I need advise, I have been on suboxone for at least 5 years, I am trying to withdraw after having what i was told a side effect from suboxone which is "sick sinus syndrome" or Bradacardia, this reduces your heart rate and resulted in a pacemaker having to replace the natural valve which controls my heart rate.
Avatar m tn So you have done this before with the pills (same dose it seems) and you have been on suboxone before. You are familiar with Suboxone would guess so what exactly is your question? We are here to help you buddy but I just don't understand. Give us a little more information.
877402 tn?1241569071 Fortunately, medications and counseling can improve the chances of success. New treatments like Suboxone, and traditional therapies like methadone and 12-step programs, are helping thousands of people stay on the road to recovery. Physical Dependence and Detox Narcotic addiction leads to real changes in the nerves of the brain. Prescription drug addiction hijacks the circuits that deal with mood and "reward" -- feeling good for helpful behaviors and bad for harmful ones.
Avatar n tn If you take your reguarl suboxone dose it will pass in 2-3 days. If you take more of an agonist or more Suboxone, you will prolong it for complicated reasons. For example, there is evidence that in very high doses buprenorphine acts like an antagonist! So... be patient, dose each morning, and wait for it to pass.
