722310 tn?1234762137 I have been struggling with chronic neck and back pain for over 15+ years. Finally in 2003, I had neck surgery on C4 C5. (fused with titanium plates and humun bone.). The surgeon decided to do the surgery 5 days before my insurance was intact. He stated that it was an emergancy, due to the muscle weakness, I was suffering from. It cost me over $33,000.00. However, I did it, based on his expertise. After surgery I felt great. I had our 5th baby in July of 2004. In Sept. 2004, the pain returned.
Avatar f tn wow I will tell you this suboxone is NOT AT ALL FOR PAIN. I know I tried suboxone and I have true pain and it did nothing for my pain and I also know others that have tried also and same nothing for pain. He should have told you why switch if you ask me something is up and he thinks you have some kind of problem he the only doctor you go to....Something is not being told make no sense at all.
Avatar m tn The confusion here may be that Suboxone and Subutex are generally prescribed to treat addiction and not normally considered for pain management. Suboxone and Subutex are two drugs that have been approved by the FDA for the treatment of opiate addiction. Both medications contain the main active ingredient Buprenorphine which stops the craving and withdrawal symptoms as well as it is a partial agonist. However Subutex does not contain an additional ingredient which is called Naloxone.
688488 tn?1227152005 I Have A Horrible Migraine with lower back pain And The Suboxone Is Not Even Touching The Pain. So What Would Happen If I Took A Couple Of Lortabs While On This Medication?
Avatar f tn Are you addicted and trying to get clean or do you have chronic pain and are trying the Suboxone route? If you have chronic pain I am not sure why you decided to get off the pain medications. If you are just addicted I would hope that you would not return to the opiates. Best of luck to you.
Avatar m tn I asked my doc if I could get back on it while taking Suboxone and he said yes and perscribed it to me again. My question is if I should be taking these two meds together or not? I know my doc perscribed them to me but I can't help but question if it's ok. Does anyone have any takes on this? I am taking 8mg Sub 2x daily and 30mg Adderall 2x daily right now.
Avatar m tn I am somewhat stable on 2 mg of Suboxone but still have tremendous anxiety/fear and severe pain that comes and goes all over my body, but primarily my lumbar back and relentlessly stiff and painful leg muscles, and my shoulders and bicep still hurt when doing almost anything. I am torn between wanting more pain control versus returning to the miserable life of narcotics.
Avatar f tn I was only on 15 hydro a day so after about 2 months and a 1,000 bucks I just weaned myself like down to 1 or 2 mg and stopped and went back on lortabs for about 3 weeks and then quitting the lortabs was so much easier and quicker. Sub wd's can go on for more than 2 weeks and I was good in 7 days from the lortab. Just my experience. Hope you find an answer that helps.
Avatar n tn I have had a couple people who needed to go back to agonists for pain, and they said something similar to each other– that even after weeks off the suboxone, they could never get the same old ‘euphoric’ feeling again. I don’t know if that is from some small lingering amount of Suboxone, or from the remaining elevated tolerance persisting for a long time after stopping the drug… But whatever it is, it will be difficult to get relief from opiate agonists for some time after stopping Suboxone.
Avatar f tn I asked him how Suboxone was indicated for my back pain and he responded that I would not need pain meds once on Suboxone. The patient handbook says Suboxone is not indicated for pain treatment. I asked about the addictiveness of Suboxone and he said he would "taper" me off after 18 months or so and there would be no need for pain medications. Like I said, I am afraid of addition and he is scaring me to death.
Avatar n tn You should not take pain meds while on sub other than over counter stuff it will make you sick. I didnot relize how well sub managed my pain till i got off the sub I would start having pain any time i got below 8mg but i did get off sub lost ins.
142722 tn?1281533616 I am not trying to find a way to get of the sub, I just happen to be one of those people that worry a lot. The dr did tell me suboxone can help with pain, and that I really don't need to be worried that he would work with my OB. Since the day will be picked out there can be a plan put into place like you guys said. Getting high is not even on my mind, I just want to feel whole again. I want to wake up in the morning with out feeling anxiety or sadness.
Avatar f tn I understand your pain and your desire to have your life back. I used to do everything with and for my kids. Mommy has limitations now. It has been a huge adjustment for all of us. Hang in there. You never know what tomorrow will bring. Think about my suggestions. Look into it. Maybe it would work for you. I too had a laundry list of drugs that I took at one time. Now I take one..... Subutex. Subutex is the clarified form of Suboxone. I am 38 weeks pregnant and Subutex is what I can take.
Avatar n tn Also you can go to the Health Pages here on this forum and read about it. It does help some for pain. Do not take pain pills while on this drug. Keep reading and asking questions. You will be fine.
Avatar f tn Clonidine, as far as I know, isn't used much for blood pressure anymore. It is used in pain management, though, and also is given to people who are going through withdrawals. I have been on it for a while for pain management (along with other things.) I'm not sure if it does much as far as pain goes. It doesn't affect my blood pressure either way. If you trust your doctor, I wouldn't worry too much about it. You could always ask the pharmacist what their opinion is.
Avatar f tn d gladly take my pain in the back over the pain of losing it all to a pill addiction. Think long and hard before you ever let a doctor script you an opiate. Opiates are not the answer for long term pain because of the tolerance factor. You'll only ever need more and more even someone who's just physically dependent as opposed to addicted has to put up with the tolerance issues. Just my opinion... hope you find a combo that works for you. Have you had a CT scan or MRI done?
Avatar m tn I dont abuse the meds so i dont know why he did that but i trusted him and stayed on it for about 6-8 months. I quit and went back on the vicoprofen 3 days ago and doing better as far as pain level. My doc is great very understanable and listening.Anyway let me know if you have any sucess getting better from the pain i have.
Avatar f tn I dont know anything about Lyrica other than a cousin takes it for fibro and it works well for her. Regarding suboxone how much are you taking? For how long have you been on it? I did not gain weight on suboxone, but it did make me tired alot and nod at times. Maybe this is why you've gained weight? Do you take it for pain or as a maintenance drug? Kicking suboxone is very possible. I am 6 months clean from 2 1/2 years on suboxone.
Avatar m tn Now I am going to be in pain untill surgery but will deal with it I am getting steriod injections in my back and hip that seem to help along with heat and ice.
Avatar n tn My husband is trying to detox with suboxone and we need to know if he can take it safely. Also, the suboxone doesn't seem to be taking away his withdrawls, he is antsy, has rls, hot and cold, sneezing, nauseaus, very very sick. He has been taking 24-32mg of suboxone and I thought that was a really high dose. He was on about 900mg of oxycodone a day, so maybe that has something to do with it? Anyone please help! Thank you so much in advance!
656944 tn?1241632187 I think I am going to have to resort to methadone or suboxone (sp?). I have klonopin for anxiety and b/p, and some valium and I am on cymbalta but I dont feel like its enough to keep me from wanting the relapse and not take anything for pain. I cant take ib profin cause it raises my b/p! UGH I am so frusterated. Please tell me your thoughts on my situation, and what route you think I should go. I really appreciate it.
Avatar f tn If your having opiate problems again, or cravings, I would get back on the suboxone asap. People are staying on this med for years and years, as a safer way to stay clean and not relapse. 12 years is quite awhile, and its hard to get over that in a few months. Like the people who do rapid detox or a month in rehab for 20years of drug use. It just doesn't work out like everyone hopes.
Avatar f tn I hear that you have medical issues of which some might require you to take pain meds. But I'm always leary of drs that prescribe suboxone and methadone as a pain management drug. And I understand that your body is building a tolerance to the meds which is very common when people take pain meds for actual pain management. So I get your decision to attempt to come off of everything.
Avatar f tn But I was perscribed tramadol over a month ago for back pain from an injury @ work. I no longer have the pain, all healed up, but I can not make it through the day with out the tramadole. I have to work, have to take care of my kids and I cant shut myself in my room until the awfull withdrawal symptoms cease so I wanted to take suboxone short term to get me through the first few days but dont know if it will make things worse. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?
