Avatar f tn my sister is 17yrs old and 37 weeks pregnant...she had a mini stroke 2 days ago..baby is fine at this point and the neurologist on duty told us the best course of action is for her to take a blood thinner injection daily and hopefully the baby wouldn't come before the medicine had time to do its job. Avatar m tn Treatment should be aimed at trying to prevent a full-blown stroke from happening in the future. A neurologist should assist you with this treatment. Some patients, on the prescription of a doctor, take Plavix (or its generic form), some take aspirin (doctor needs to advise you as to what you should do). Blood pressure should be kept in normal range so if you have high blood pressure, the doctor will likely want to prescribe medicine to get that down to normal.

Avatar f tn What is causing chronic, severe itching since my father's stroke? --ischemic stroke, right side brain, left side paralysis. My 80 yr old father had a stroke 4 months ago. About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner.

It may be 1. a degree of subluxation (separation) of the shoulder. 2. some degree of spasticity. 3. central (thalamic) pain syndrome 4. an injury In order to get the correct diagnosis & treatment,, I would suggest discussing this with your rehabilitation medicine specialist &/or your physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
Avatar n tn After reading the studies use one to back up your suggestion for an alternative treatment. Stroke can be caused by both clots and bleeds. Plavix is generally prescribed following a stroke from a clot. Often clots are caused by simple dehydration and inactivity. If you go off the Plavix keep well hydrated at all times with electrolytes.
Avatar m tn Its likely from the CT scan that your fathers symptoms are due to the subacute infarct. Stroke can be ischemic or hemorrhagic. Ischemic stroke occurs as a result of blockage to an artery. For this therapy with clot dissolving drugs (thrombolytics), should be initiated early. Aspirin, an anti-thrombotic drug, is given immediately after an ischemic stroke to reduce the likelihood of having another stroke. Tissue plasminogen activator (TPA), needs to be given within 4.

703362 tn?1427766328 Sometimes you can take smaller doses after your blood pressure is under control, but you may always need some treatment. What’s most important is that you take your medicine exactly the way your doctor tells you to. Never stop treatment on your own. If you have problems or side effects with your medicine, talk to your doctor.
