Stress test treadmill exercise

Common Questions and Answers about Stress test treadmill exercise

stress-test

Avatar f tn When using EKG and blood pressure monitoring alone the test is variously called a cardiac stress test, exercise stress test, exercise treadmill test, exercise tolerance test, stress test or exercise ECG test. Heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, EKG, and how tired you feel are monitored during the test.
Avatar n tn An Echo Stress Test or a Nuclear Stress Test, if the doctor is suspecting coronary artery disease. However, a regular stress may be sufficient in stable patients or those with a low suspicion of coronary artery disease who are being assessed for exercise tolerance (for example, prior to undergoing a structured exercise or rehab program). If you are/were experiencing chest pains an EKG Stress test is not reliable and probably should have had a Nuclear Stress Test.
Avatar f tn I am getting a nuclear stress test done on Monday. I wish that they could have done more testing at the time however the cardiologist seemed frustrated and angry, maybe not with me. I am really unsure why, actually. I'm very concerned and it will be good to get to that bottom of it. I have increased my fluid intake. Thanks for your response.
1694311 tn?1306337287 My mom is having a stress test tomorrow. She isn't doing the treadmill but is doing the medicine type. She has been having chest pain and shortness of breath. I know there are risks and what they are. Has anyone you know had a heart attack with this type of stress test?
Avatar m tn If you have known respiratory problems, I agree a cardiopulmonary exercise testing provides better information than traditional treadmill stress tests. The test will diagnose exercise induced reductions in blood slow to the heart. The test also provides doctor data on gas exchanges in the lungs at rest and during exercise and yields breath-by-breath measures of oxygen uptake.
Avatar f tn What does it mean when, during a exercise stress test (treadmill), they tell you to stop early? Is it most likely a good thing or a bad one? Details: Given a stress test for heart rate irregularities. Resting rate was around 80, and bp around 110/70. Between 3-6 min on the treadmill my bp was 170/80 and heartrate was over 140. At 7-8 minutes they told me I could stop because "they had all the information they needed." They said I would have the results in a couple of days.
Avatar f tn I recently went for a stress test where i had to walk on a treadmill and was wired up to an ECG machine, during the test at regular intervals the treadmill got faster and steeper, once the test was finished i heard one of the doctors say "I saw one VE on there" i would like to know what this could mean, is anything serious as ive got to wait until April before i go back and see the doctor.
Avatar m tn t diagnose SVT from a treadmill. SVT is a heart rate over 150 WITHOUT exercise being the cause. If he diagnosed it because you have a high HR w/o exercise and it truly IS SVT, then an ablation is not the horror you are thinking. I have a few friends who have had them and told me they were "nothing." I'm sure everyone's experience is different, though. Lots of people here have had one, but if it was for PVCs then their experience is different, too. Good luck.
Avatar f tn ST segment depression on the electrocardiogram during the exercise treadmill test is used as a predictor of coronary artery disease, although it is recognized that both false-positive and false-negative results limit the value of this procedure. There is a low sensitivity rating with an EKG and requires further testing, and symptoms to support a diagnosis of ischemia.
Avatar m tn I have two artificial hips and yet doctors keep pressing me, when I do a stress test, to run on a treadmill. (Age 55). Those are impact exercises - bad for fake hips. The last time I did this I had to yell "STOP THE TEST NOW!" to get them to shut it off. They wouldn't listen when I said it normally. Did they think I was kidding? So now it's a year after I had a Stent put in to fix two blockages with one Stent. And now doc wants to do a nuclear stress test.
Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.
Avatar f tn Again in cardiac disorders the heart is unable to pump the blood adequately, more so when subjected to stress like exercise. Certain systemic disorders like anemia, diabetes, vitamin deficiencies and thyroid disorders can cause these symptoms. So, besides EKG and treadmill test, lung function tests could further help in evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I requested the test because of family history. I did the standard ecg treadmill test without the radiation scan a few years before, and it was okay. Maybe they stopped because the test was for 8 mimutes. I felt I was close to my limit given my breathing was heavier. The other test has identified an issue, and I am seeing the cardiologist soon. I prefer to see these reports in a language I can understand.
1076228 tn?1256348980 However, comparing the trace elements injected at rest at during the high heart rate period of the stress test may show that there is a blockage of an artery and during exercise, your heart is not getting enough blood in parts of it. The cath will give the doctor specific answers. I'd try to stress about it, but the period of time after a stress test and before a cath is always a worrisome time, I've gone through that a number of times.
Avatar m tn I had my stress test done today and was wondering if I had a typical experience. I had the test done because I almost fainted a month ago doing cardio at the gym. The first did an EKG (lying down). I then went onto the treadmill. It started off slowly. Every 3 minutes they increased the speed and incline of the treadmill. I was supposed to get into a range of 159 to 180 bpm. I went up to a fast walk and everything was fine.
Avatar m tn I am 62 years old. During Stress Test I was stopped at 136 bpm as the Dr. said Target HR is achieved. The MET was 7.7. Is it a reason to worry? What should be ideal MET for a person of my age?
Avatar f tn A stress test will normally be a treadmill. You will progressively walk faster and at a higher grade for about 15 minutes. You will be monitored by a doctor most likely while attached to electrodes. After the treadmill you will be placed in a diagnostic machine that will look at your heart. Then a second exam of your heart with dye will examine the difference in the way your heart looked after the treadmill and after the dye was introduced.
974371 tn?1424653129 From what you describe, it sounds as if you had a positive echo treadmill stress test, based on some changes on your EKG, as well as some changes in the motion of your heart as seen by exercise echocardiogram. Generally, the stress test is a screening test for coronary artery disease. The next step is a coronary angiogram, where they will be able to visualize the arteries that supply blood to your heart (coronary arteries), and determine if there are any blockages or narrowing.
Avatar m tn ve been getting feelings of skipped beats so my doctor had me do an exercise tolerance test. I was only on the treadmill for a couple minutes when I reached my target heart rate. The tech had me keep going and sped up the treadmill. I felt fine. My heart rate reached into the mid to upper 170's. I felt a skipped beat and saw it on the monitor. But the printout didn't catch it. The cardiologist said the printout just showed normal sinus tachy.
1285040 tn?1438934858 Clinically positive and electrically negative Bruce protocol exercise treadmill test. Fair exercise tolerance. Test stopped due to dyspnea. Chest pressure at peak exercise. Occasional PVCs. No ischemia. A nuclear stress (only) test showed decreased perfusion in the anterior and inferolateral walls. ECG gated LV wall motion study revealed normal wall motion, normal wall thickening, normal systolic function, with a calculated ejection fraction of 58%.
Avatar f tn and in Sept I had an exercise stress test. When I went to have the stress test preformed, the doctor did not place the cuff on correctly. It get slipping and they kept having a problem getting it to work. During the test I felt fine. But the test kept taking the incorrect blood pressure measurements and over halfway through it , they stopped the test.. That was in Sept.
Avatar f tn hello, I have had a treadmill test and am awaiting the results , I have heard the results are based on lots of different factors , but my question is ? , when a treadmill test is complete does the person doing the test calculate your time at when you reach 85% of you heart rate or the final time when you stop the test ?
Avatar n tn If and when you have any discomfort or the monitor indicates unacceptable parameters the test will be discontinued. I never got to any running phase with my stress test. The test was discontinued after 7 minutes...normally the test may go as long as 15 minutes or so when there isn't any problem..
Avatar n tn Had a nuclear treadmill stress test done while taking the test the whole time the nurse held me up from behind 2 hands on back because i stated i had back problems and as soon as test started she began this procere is this comman practice?
Avatar n tn those due to injection of the radioactive compound and those due to the treadmill stress test. Your father did not have any side effects form the exercise phase, but side effects from the the treadmill can be chest pain, irregular heart rate and rarely, death have been reported during treadmill stress test. There should have been a doctor supervising the test that is the appropriate procedure, so it may have been a dotor who answered questions and not the tech.
