There is a non stress test AND a stress test.... There are different reasons for both. During a non stress test they hook you up to a monitor and just keep an eye on baby's movements and heart rate... During a stress test they hook you up to a monitor but they induce contractions to see how baby reacts.
Hi, I recently was admitted into the ER for shortness of breath, swelling and heart palps. The ran blood work, did a chest x-ray, did an EKG and a Stress test with the treadmill. All came out normal however all symptoms are still there. My doctor spoke with a friend/cardiologist who wants to see me and do a Echo. My question is, wasn't all that enough checking for the heart? Would would an Echo tell that all the other testing didn't? and...
I have no symptoms of heart problems, but I have a family history of heart disease. Is a nuclear stress test advisable or is there another test that would be more appropriate given the fact that I'm asymptomatic. I understand that the radiation exposure in a nuclear stress test is 250 times that of a chest xray. I'm concerned about the risk of exposure to that level of radiation given the fact that I have no signs of heart problems at this point.

I wonder why you had a stress test, some symptom trigger it? In my case I asked for a stress test to get a better number on what my maximum exercise HR should be. This lead to lots of additional nuclear and other tests because I couldn't pass the stress test when I in fact didn't have the main problem it checks for.
Sorry if I wander... bottom line, see a cardiologist but if you don't have any serious symptoms I think you should think positive, nothing is wrong.
I went back again and had an MRI ordered and that is where the bruising was found. My Os treated it like a stress fracture. 2 hard casts later and non weight bearing for 7+ week. I'm 10 months past the injury and I still feel it from time to time. Bone bruiasing take a long time to heal. But my guess is your little guy will come around faster. Good luck and I feel his pain!!!
Friday i was in the hospital for fainting episodes but all test came back normal nothing to worried about and then after they put me the fetus machine to monitor the baby's heart beat and contractions. No joke i was having lots of them in the hospital every 5 minutes thanks to the nurse she controlled my contractions. But when they checked my cervix it was a fingertip. and my uterus was still way in their. Is that mean something like pre-term labor or something else???
I didn't get the amnio done either. My chances of having a baby with down syndrome were 1/10,000 and for trisomy 18 1/100,000. Dr and genetics counslor said it was totally up to me and my hubby to do it. In the end they just told me I would be having a couple more ultrasounds to monitor baby and see his development. But I felt like I was being pushed to do it. As I was leaving the MA said I need you to sign by the X and it was to take the test.
I had the stress test done before my surgery. I could not cross the street without getting out of breath and having chest pain. I was unable to complete the test on the treadmill so they gave me drugs to increase my heart rate so that I could complete the test. You can ask them about it before you have the test.
test done was hiv, hepatis b, hepatis c, siphilis, urine test, all blood test etc. also i did ultrasound of abdomen and chest x ray, which states that everything is fine. but i still having these symptoms whish is worrying me. i am very stressed and my doctors even a psychologist told me that this is due to anxiety i am having. i want to know what are the possible causes and if really anxiety can lead to this ongoing and continuous symtoms. thanking you in advance.
