Stress test of the heart

Common Questions and Answers about Stress test of the heart

Avatar n tn What the cardiologist is looking for on a stress test is achieving 85% of you max predicted heart rate. Once that is met, the test is usually terminated. In you case that would be 133 BPM (220-age)*.85). Mets is simply a calculation used to determine the amount of energy expended to calculate calories burned.
Avatar f tn What this indicates there may be reduced ability of the heart to pump adequately to meet the oxygenated blood demand. Do you have report regarding your heart's ejection fraction (EF)? This is the percentage of blood pumped with heartbeat (normal is 50 to 70%) That is about all that can be discerned from the information you have provided. If you have any more information or further questions you are welcome to respond.
Avatar f tn Then a second exam of your heart with dye will examine the difference in the way your heart looked after the treadmill and after the dye was introduced. This will give the doctor and understanding of underlying heart problems.
Avatar n tn If you are/were experiencing chest pains an EKG Stress test is not reliable and probably should have had a Nuclear Stress Test. The test provides a perfusion of a dye through your vessels at rest and with exercise. Would be or should be able to see any blockages. Blockages would cause chest pain. The statistics for a regular treadmill stress test for diagnosing important disease is approximately 67% or 2/3 rd of patients with coronary artery disease.
Avatar f tn I am thinking before I go in for stress test I would like to see results of angiogram rather than risk a stress test. I have heard the nuclear stress tests do cause heart attacks. Any feed back would be appreciated. I know I will have a panic attack :( during stress test. Ugh.
212161 tn?1599427282 you are referring to had nothing to do with you walking barefoot (I had them too up to the point were the ECG became unreadable and I have as yet found nobody that could/would explain this to me) and they stopped the test because you had reached your prescribed heart rate of 140 BPM - so nothing wrong with that.
Avatar n tn Coreg is medication that helps lower the heart rate and bp. The stress test will evaluate one's physical condition a peak heart rate unmedicated, and how quickly the heart rae returns to normal within 3 minutes or so. Other phases of the test considered as well.
Avatar m tn What is important is hypokinesia, or diminished movement, as this indicates diminished blood supply to that segment of the heart muscle. From the study there is no evidence of ischemia so the blood supply to the heart muscle is normal. So, relax and be happy.
Avatar f tn I had a stress test done and they called me the same day and said i had to see a cardiologist. They said the dye did not show up on parts of the test. I dont know what would cause this. Does anyone know ?
Avatar n tn I do not know what it means, are the results acceptable, good very good etc. What does this say about the blood flow to the heart muscle ? "injection of Myoview nuclear tracer & resting images obtained excercised on a treadmill for 5 min 34 sec. to 10.1 Met workload achieving 95% age predicted max heart rate with a double product of 21600 injected with Muoview @ 85% age predicted max heart rate and excercise cont for 1 minute beyond that teat limited by fatique and short of breath.
Avatar f tn ) and EKG was recorded all the time. The stress test showed that I got through the test better than persons of my age (65) normally do. I did not, however, reach my set maximun heart rate (160), I reached 157. But problems (depression of the ST segment, and SVT tachycardia) began during the recovery.
Avatar m tn Stress tests are standardized so most likely you were administered the same test as all of have had, The Bruce Protocol Stress Test. If that is the case, 10 minutes isn't too bad, but if you made it to 15 minutes, it would be perfectly normal to be panting and sweating profusely..... And most likely you'd be a world class athlete.
862553 tn?1239060736 Of course i had the ct with my heart at rest before the stress test and then after the stress test... But am wondering what you would think is possibly going on. My maternal grandfather died because his heart actually exploded and my father himself has had bypass surgery... so there is a hitory in our family all my sibling's take meds for high blood pressure and one sister takes heart medication already ... Could you please let me knwo what your thgouhts are on this ...
Avatar f tn As your body works harder during the test, it requires more oxygen, so the heart must pump more blood. The test can show if the blood supply is reduced in the arteries that supply the heart. It also helps doctors know the kind and level of exercise appropriate for a patient. Post cardiac patients can be stress tested to determine the the degree of exercise appropriate and measured in METs which would be the reference.
Avatar f tn An echocardiogram uses ultra sound that provides a visual image on the monitor and records the images to a CD as the heart is beating. Dimension of heart walls, chambers, etc. are calculated by the echo software. The heart valves are evaluated for functionality and structure normality. The heart's pumping ability is calculated, etc. A stress test is used to determine if and where there may be vessel blockage.
Avatar m tn Usually, a small defect indicates there may be some heart cells in the area noted that do not help contract the heart wall. Often the problem is due to a lack of good oxygenated blood flowing to that portion of the defect.
212161 tn?1599427282 Hi, we'll I had my stress test done, just the exercise one with no dye or pictures, I ran it about 7 mins got my heart to 104 percent, could of keep going if I needed to, had no chest pains, or sob. They said you passed sent me on my way. Good news My question is , without pics how much can they tell about the heart, if I had a blockage would it had shown up? Should I feel good about my heart? Thank you so much for all your time.
Avatar f tn ughhhh im so ready to have my baby girl :) has anyone had to take the stress test to make sure baby was ok before they went into labor or got induced... I go on monday to get test done to make sure my baby is ok... just wanted to know what they do, and how long it takes.......
Avatar n tn I have had two sets of chest xrays done and they show nothing as well. I went in for a stress test and it appeared to be "abnormal". I went in for an angiogram and the doctor assures me that my heart is in excellent shape except for a very small blockage. I continue to have the tightness in my chest and the feeling of being flush. I have a blood pressure of 100 over 60 and a pulse of 72. I have had no other problems in the past. I am at a loss as to where to go next.
Avatar f tn I just turned 37 weeks today and I've had 3 done already...and I will continue to have one until I deliver the baby (my dr. procedure for all clients)....it's really nothing to worry about.....it's just a test to check on the baby movement and heart rate to make sure he or she is not stressed....
Avatar f tn I am supposed to have a stress test for my baby in a couple days . I am worried its going to hurt. Has anyone has this done??
Avatar n tn A echocardiogram (doppler) is the test I have every few years and I have moderate to severe mitral regurgitation. Echo (doppler). Also, there is some reliabilty based on shortness of breath symptoms, and I was told if I get shortness of breath a valve replacement or repair would be considered. The doppler provides a visual view of the size and shape of your heart valves and chambers, how well your heart is pumping blood and whether a valve is narrowed or has backflow...
Avatar f tn Don't know your medical issues but your age is an indication for twice weekly antenatal testing.
