Common Questions and Answers about Stress test nuclear images

stress-test

Avatar f tn My rx says adenosine nuclear stress test. Adenosine is used in lieu of exercise.
Avatar n tn My nuclear stress test results were as follows ver batim. I do not know what it means, are the results acceptable, good very good etc. What does this say about the blood flow to the heart muscle ? "injection of Myoview nuclear tracer & resting images obtained excercised on a treadmill for 5 min 34 sec. to 10.
Avatar m tn Myocardial images acquired following exercise demonstrate a small sized perfusion defect of mild severity in the inferior region of the left ventricle. The rest images reveal complete reversibility in this region. Stress images also reveal a mild decrease of tracer uptake in the anterior area of the apex. The rest images are unchanged in this region. Cavity dilatation is not present. Systolic myocardial thickening and wall motion at rest are normal on gated imaging.
Avatar n tn t agree on why I did so well on the stress test. Q. Can some one do this well on a stress test, ie 13.5 minutes and still have major heart problems? What's next?
Avatar n tn A nuclear stress test lets doctors see pictures of your heart while you are resting and shortly after you have exercised. The test can give information about the size of the heart's chambers, how well the heart is pumping blood, and whether the heart has any damaged or dead muscle. Nuclear stress tests can also give doctors information about your arteries and whether they might be narrowed or blocked because of coronary artery disease.
Avatar m tn Yes which is why cardiologists in the UK generally use it to back up previous tests. Its main function here is to see if there is any dead heart muscle.
Avatar n tn She was the 4th person to have the test on this equipment. According to the results stress images reveal a large sized perfusion abnormality of moderate to severe intensity in the lateral and anterolateral walls . Stress images also showed a medium sized perfusion abnormality of mild to moderate intensity in the interoseptal and inferiolateral walls. Grade V stage. Gated SPECT revealed abnormal left ventricular function with an ejection fraction of 36%.
Avatar f tn I had a nuclear stress test & they found "mild ischemia in the inferior apical area" with an ejection fraction of 75%-I am symptomatic with angina and SOB & take toprol xl and imdur but still have some symptoms-what does the stress test mean in laymans terms-thanks
Avatar m tn ....rest images (inferior wall, septum, apex), improved perfusion on stress images with persistent defect at the apex - fixed apical defect consistent with infarct scar, apical akinesia.....It seems the tests (1 and 3) indicate a prior myocardio infraction (heart attack) and heart cell necrosis (not viable). Your ejection fraction is within the normal range (normal is 50-70%) and indicates your heart's contractility strength has the ability to pump 59% of the heart's filling capacity.

Avatar m tn My recent nuclear cardiac stress test shows the following results. What does this mean? Is this something to worry about? • Myocardial perfusion images show a mild inferior and Lateral scar versus artifact. The post stress left ventricle normal in size • Post-stress ejection fraction is 87 %. Global left ventricular systolic function is normal • Exercise capacity 13 METS.
Avatar n tn He then decided that as an effort to eliminate any concerns, that I should do a nuclear stress test. I went ahead with the nuclear test, and immediately after, he said that there are few concerns with some of the images that came back which reveled possible ischemia. I was really surprised, seeing how up until now, everything else was normal. He then said "I think for peace of mind, you'd be best going ahead with a heart cath just to rule anything out.
Avatar f tn They ran echo, ekg, Ct of chest and nuclear stress. The images in the nuclear stress test did not match. The Dr said that they isotopes did not go to the front of my chest but he did not know why. He said it did not show a blockage. He told me to go home, take it easy and follow up in his office in a few weeks. He said he was unsettled that it they did not match. I am at a loss, leaving the hospital with chest pain and an abnormal nuclear stress test is unsettleing. Any advice or thoughts?
Avatar f tn There can be a false positive but modern nuclear stress tests include computer programs that correct for some of this blurring and muffling.
Avatar m tn Ok I had a nuclear and regular stress test seems I have different stories.here are some results..says LEFT VENTRICULAR is slightly dilated ?? TID RATIO is 1.2 and my DUKE SCORE - 14(HIGH RISK) so how can they says its normal ? I exercise very hard 6 days a week being a pro athlete 38yrs old,and I do have GRAVES DISEASE,only on 5mg of TAPAZOL.SO AM I in any danger ?? not sure what to do ? (and last few months by blood pressure has been high) weird part is I can exercise at a great pace...??
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing angina for the past several months and I recently took a nuclear stress test. I can not see the cardiologist until next week so I am hoping you can shed some light on my diagnosis. " The patient reached a maximal heart rate of 154, which is 91% of predicted maximum. There is some thinning of the myocardium near the apex with small area of reversible activity in anteroseptal region.
Avatar f tn The cardiologist put me on a 24 hour portable EKG machine to monitor the palpitations and prescribed a Echocardiogram and Nuclear Stress Test to be done the same week. I got both of them done last week. He said the echo looked fine, but the EKG under stress was abnormal. The pictures taken after the treadmill walk apparently also showed that some part (about 10%) of my heart was not receiving enough blood.
Avatar f tn My Husband is 67, and he just had a nuclear stress test in the last month. I am hoping someone can give me an explanation of the test results, thank you. Resting images demonstrate a moderate-sized area of mildly decreased counts involving the inferior lateral segments. Stress imaging demonstrates improvement in the inferior lateral segment however there is mild worsening of the distal anterior, distal anterior septal, and anterior apical segments.
Avatar m tn Well, the nuclear stress test IS with a treadmill. They hook up the IV and put you on the treadmill and inject the isotopes when your heart rate gets to a certain point. So again it's why don't they use an orbital machine to help people with artificial joints or other? Treadmill seems like the primitive way of doing it. I appreciate the comment about the chemical test. I guess it's less risk on them if you do a treadmill versus the small risk of the chemical test. ??
Avatar m tn Ask your cardiologist directly about this and they will readily admit that 30 years ago when the nuclear stress test was state of the art, that it was simply accepted that the images of the patients with 3-vessel diseease would likely seem as clearly normal as those that are actually normal. But that was during a time period when little could be done to help such badly diseased patients anyway.
Avatar n tn If your EKG was abnormal before the test, it would have been more helpful to have a nuclear stress test. If your EKG changed during the stress test without pain, the fact that you had pain before may encourage you to be proactive and ask for a nuclear stress test. Nuclear GXT pushes the accuracy into the 90th percentile.
Avatar m tn Recently I did nuclear stress test. The findings of the test is " Stress images reveal a mild to moderate perfusion defect in the basoseptal wall of the left ventricle. Resting images reveal this defect to be fixed, The left ventricular ejection fraction = 64% (Normal > or = 50%). There is normal wall motion." I do not understand the findings. Please explain the findings to a dummy.
