stress-test

Avatar n tn It is my understanding that a cardiologist must be in the department when a stress test is being administered. I'm sure that in smaller testing facilities they have specialists that are trained to respond in the event there is a complication. I have had one each of the past three years and there has always been a cardiologist present.
4983320 tn?1378402268 t any protein in my urine, but they want to watch for it. My doctor is having me do the non stress test Sunday. What should I expect?
1822306 tn?1330522629 Does everyone have a stress test before starting treatment? I am 56 and in good health, weight, and somewhat athletic. Is a stress test necessary? I am Genotype 2b; I only have to do six months SOC and was hoping to finish treatment before summer.
Avatar f tn 55 into the test when I passed out. In that 4:55, I had frequent pvc's; 2 PVC couplets and 1 PVC triplet and my QRS segment of PVC's narrowed substantially with exercise, widening again in recovery (180 ms to 80 ms) which I was told was a problem.
Avatar m tn Went for a heart stress test. After I'm hooked up to the machine a woman comes into the room to gives me the test. She doesn't introduce herself other than telling me her name. I don't know what her credentials are. She gives me the test then tells me about a minor negative reading and recommends I have Nuclear stress test. She does not consult with the cardiologist. I find this odd but don't want to question her.
Avatar m tn A Chiari specialist also treats Syringomyelia, (syrinx) as they tend to go hand in hand many times. Those with Chiari have an obstruction of CSF flow which can cause a syrinx to form.....so if they take care of the CSF flow issue it may help the syrinx shrink.....so knowing how or why urs formed is a help.....
Avatar m tn My primary care physician is sending me for a cardiac stress test. I was debating on whether I should ask for a cardiopulmonary stress test instead. I have difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. Also, I have low blood oxygen (High Hemoglobin and High Hematocrit) and low carbon dioxide. I know the cardiopulmonary stress test measures gas exchange during exercise. I just don't want to have to do both tests at some point, if there is nothing wrong with my heart.
Avatar f tn There is a non stress test AND a stress test.... There are different reasons for both. During a non stress test they hook you up to a monitor and just keep an eye on baby's movements and heart rate... During a stress test they hook you up to a monitor but they induce contractions to see how baby reacts.
Avatar m tn Child has had thorough eval by 2 primary care physicians. Stress unlikely -- parents divorced but no more stress in child's life than before acute onset of symptoms. Infection seemingly ruled out with clean UA & Cx. Hormone/endocrine issues seem ruled out by virtue of clean UA (no glucose) and by virtue that this is frequency but not polyuria (frequent voiding of low rather than high volumes of urine).
512736 tn?1211343352 d CAD is greatly increased by performing a nuclear perfusion study in conjunction with the stress test. A radioactive substance called thallium (or a similar substance called sestamibi or Cardiolite) is injected into a vein during exercise. The thallium collects in the parts of the heart that have good blood flow. Pictures of the heart are taken with a special camera that can image the radioactivity of the thallium.
Avatar n tn A few days later, I go to pick it up to find the prescription is nowhere in their data. I call the office back, to which the lady states that she will resend the prescription, then hangs up on before I can ask all of my questions. I call back to ask for an estimate for when it would be ready (later that day, the next day, a week from now--anything), to which she quickly responds to try in 10 to 15 minutes, and then call back if the prescription did not go through.
Avatar n tn This probably sounds like a pretty naïve questions, but hope someone might respond... I had a stress test last week - attained 85% of heart rate and 10.2 METS. Test was completed and I went home. If there was something concerning, would I have received a phone call? I don't see the dr til next week. The test was taken in my cardiologist's office - he has a great reputation... not sure of the protocol - thanks in advance...
Avatar f tn Iv taken a few Nuclear stress tests - in the past I can remember you cant eat anything or drink but water - I was also taken off my meds for 24 hrs before the test . It might be good to call the appointment center or doctors office and tell them - if im not too late at this ! pretty sure it will mess up your test. though some scan tests you can eat peanut butter ? guess it makes the dye show up better in the vains ? I never liked these tests ! as dyes in vains - so on..
Avatar m tn m not a needle guy and I actually passed out and hit my head on the wall when they were putting the IV in - prior to the stress test. I freaked the nurses out. I insisted on getting the stress test done after that and the cardiologist agreed that it would be a good "worst case" scenario. So I still got up and ran on the treadmill for them. I want to say that I ran for 15 minutes. But they're monitoring you BP/HR etc so don't worry. They're not going to kill you!
Avatar m tn Each test is progressivly more accurate. An EKG is about 50% accurate, a normal stress test is about 65% accurate and a nuclear stress test is about 85% accurate overall but if you back out the false positives, it will find significant heart disease 97% of the time. Having said that, are you working with your doctor to find a cause other than heart disease?
Avatar f tn My daughter also presented with sinus tachycardia on her holter monitor but sometimes her heart rate and blood pressure were normal in the physicians office. One of the things they look at for diagnosing POTS is a 30+ increase in heart rate on the TTT. I think if there is blood pressure drops going on at the same time as the heart rate increasing that maybe one criteria to suggest it's not POTS but it doesn't rule out other autonomic issues going on.
Avatar n tn had a nuclear stress test done this past week, doctor's office called to inform me there was a mild problem on the front of my heart. What are possible issues with this report. I had a heart attack and five by passes done 29 years ago.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm having symptoms very similar to those I see described for Chiari Malformation and as I look back at my symptoms over the past 20-30 years I'm wondering if this has been the issue all along. Symptoms include migraines, pressure in head, pressure in and ringing in ears, numbness/tingling in face and hands, pain in legs and feet, easily fatigued, and lack of concentration/memory. These can range in severity and significantly got worse a few months ago due to high stress in my job.
Avatar m tn I am only guessing and very limited in what I know. I do know the EP is for the AF. EPs are for rythm issues. Sorry, that is pretty much all I know there. The way my doctors office works is first you see the cardiologist, then they will set you up with the EP. So I have both a cardio and EP.
Avatar f tn My husband is 66 and recently had a SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging Study (stress test). It was essentially normal, with the exception of the following: "there is a moderate sized reversible defect of the inferior and apical walls". The left ventricle was normal in size and the ejection fractions were 57% at rest and 63% post stress. The internet resources suggest that such a defect could be indicative of a prior silent heart attack. Is this true?
Avatar m tn 45 year old male excellent health planning on training for a marathon so I asked my Family Physician if I could have a Stress Test. He felt it was not necessary because I had no risk factors. He then decided to have me undergo a cadriolite stress test (against his advice). My history - 45 year old male - Physical Education teacher...very active - Non-smoker - 1 glass of red wine a day - one 81 mg aspirin/day. Multiple Vitamin and omega 3's - jogging 3-5/week 40minutes for the past 20 years.
Avatar f tn I am thinking before I go in for stress test I would like to see results of angiogram rather than risk a stress test. I have heard the nuclear stress tests do cause heart attacks. Any feed back would be appreciated. I know I will have a panic attack :( during stress test. Ugh.
Avatar n tn Sitting at airport, laptap in lap, on phone talking business. No particular stress or activity. Suddenly felt constriction in middle of chest to the left, like constricting a squash ball. It became tighter then moved to middle of chest, caused sweating at hairline and then slowly dissipated. After much hesitation informed airline who called paramedics who took blood pressure ang EKG. Blood pressure 150/90 and nothing abnormal on EKG.
