Avatar f tn I have uncontrolled hypertension and began having nagging ache in my left arm, and occasional pain in my upper back, and ocaasional discomfort in my chest...so I had a thallium stress test...during the period in the test when they sent me home for a couple of hours and told me to return later, I had severe pain in both arms, was nauseated, and slept until time to go back...i told them about it, but they were not concerned...when i got the reults of the test, it wa normal...
Avatar m tn She has stage 2 hypertension and when she gets near a physician or any hospital setting her blood pressure shoots off the roof. She is scheduled for an Echo Stress Test however I am relucted to send her until we can get her blood pressure under control. She had an EKG had it indicated a slight variance and we went to the cardiologist and he checked her out and he stated if it weren't for the fact her family history indicated heart disease he wouldn't schedule a test.
Avatar f tn test with myocardial perfusion imaging revealed mild to moderate ischemia involving the basal anterior septum and mid anterior septal walls. He is status post recent (4/7/08) four-vessel bypass graft with a LIMA to the LAD. My husband has been labeled a walking piece of plaque by his cardiologist. With his open-heart surgery being so recent, with him being diabetic, and he has never had any symptoms of his illness - should this recent test be looked into further by your opinion?
Avatar n tn thankyou for responding, yes had the test reached my target heart rate , but didnt feel like i had exerted myself enough to give my heart a real test, thankfully nothing showed, but wish i had some answers to the chest pain that goes down my left arm, and cardioligist says its nothing, well its not nothing its very disturbing actually put me on lipitor as bad cholestrol is 7 oh well if i cark it least i know nothing was wrong..
Avatar f tn Hi Ken, I did see a pulmonologist last Tues and he did a pulmonary function test and I also had a chest xray, passed both these with flying colors. He asked me a lot of questions and then told me he would have me take a echocardiogram in a year to rule out PH.
Avatar f tn I am told to get an echocardiagram stress test now to determine if it is extreme hypertension rather than CAD. Has anyone else had this? Could it be chiari related. I am thinking my problems are heart related rather than chiari related now, but lucky me, it could be both I suppose.
1124887 tn?1313754891 I have consulted 4 cardiologists + one specialist in internal medicine the last year and a half, with completely normal test results. Stress test revealed normal chronotopic response to exercise and normal blood pressure increase (120/80 to 210/90) with max heart rate 210 (sinus tachycardia). At that time, I was somewhat unfit due to health anxiety and immobilization. Holter revealed rare atrial ectopics and that was about it.
Avatar n tn I had a thalium treadmill stress test. They ended the test only 2 minutes into the test. They said my blood pressure went up and my heart rhythm spead up. I wanted to know how high my bp went up to and how fast my heart rate went up. It's the second test they cut short. I have 2 enlarged chambers (which two I don't know), a triscuspid leak, 2 little leaks in my mitral valve and the prolapse. What all does that mean? I'm 61 and have high bp and diabetes on insulin.
Avatar m tn I recently had a nuclear stress test with imaging and while recovering and resting on the the table my HR was coming down from 180 during Bruce level 5 to 110 and that is when my symptoms appeared. I started having PVC's here and there then bigeminy, trigeminy, couplets and as many as four to five PVC's in a row. Of course I could feel them and this lasted for 10 minutes. No intervention done at the time. No change in BP either.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you had the normal test. Try to cut out salt and process foods. look up info on the dash diet, which is a diet to stop high blood pressure. You might need medication if it does not come down. Are you under stress?
Avatar m tn Interpreting just the report you provide, your stress test was negative for any inducible ischemia (decreased blood flow to your heart). The study was adequate because you were able to achieve > 85% of your maximal heart rate, and your functional capacity is good (11.7 METS) which is a good prognostic indicator.
Avatar f tn At a routine scheduled visit I notified my doctor. He sent me for a stress test, echocardiogram, and chest X-ray. The stress test was good, but the X-Ray and Echo both showed some issues: X-ray shows Mild hyperinflation and minimal interstitial pattern suggesting small airway disease. Note I was a smoker but quit (4) years ago. Echo shows mild pulmonary hypertension with a dilated IVC with poor inspiration collapse which is consistent with elevated right atrial pressure.
974371 tn?1424653129 From what you describe, it sounds as if you had a positive echo treadmill stress test, based on some changes on your EKG, as well as some changes in the motion of your heart as seen by exercise echocardiogram. Generally, the stress test is a screening test for coronary artery disease. The next step is a coronary angiogram, where they will be able to visualize the arteries that supply blood to your heart (coronary arteries), and determine if there are any blockages or narrowing.
Avatar n tn Mean while I visited family doctor for this reason. He asked me to under go blood tests for electrolytes, cholestrol, EKG and Ultra sound for kidney, urinary bladder everything because he wanted to know i have secondary HP. But all reports are normal,.. He prescribed to continue the tablet for three monts and monitor BP. I am monitoring my BP from last three months the Bp ranges from 105-128 systolic and 60-80 diastolic.
Avatar m tn I had a right heart catheter test and another echo done the following Monday after the echo/stress test to rule in/out PPH. All pulmonary pressures were normal. I feel great and have not had any symptoms while exercising these last 6 months since these tests were performed however I did obtain the results of an echo I had done in 2008 after being in a nasty mountain bike crash. The echo showed normal right ventricle size as recent as 2008.
Avatar n tn EKG negative, echocardiogram negative, stress test positive, nuclear cardiolite stress test positive and suggestive of inferior lateral ischemia. Ejection fraction within normal range. Will have heart cath next. DR. doesn't seem to think there is a blockage, but wants to test to be certain. What is the liklihood of blockage? Have hypertension, overweight, sedentary lifestyle, and high cholesterol.
Avatar m tn I was finally sent to the ER where they found the mild mitral valve regurgitation and was referred to a cardiologist. Several tests were done including the echo stress test (tilt table, bubble test, stress). All of it was negative three years ago. The cardiologist I'm seeing now told me on Tuesday that the average Joe at this altitude (4500ft) would have mild pulmonary hypertension. If this correct, then why three years ago I didn't have it?
Avatar n tn I have terrible heart palps even on the Bystolic, and now, today, I spiked a high BP reading 160 over 100 only 2 minutes into the treadmill, so he ended the test. I was sent home, to wait three weeks for a nuclear stress test. My question is this, why am I home with arm and chest pains? If I am having arm, neck chest and sometimes even jaw discomfort, plus palps, spiking BP, enlarged Lft. ventricle, leaky valve, and dizzy spells, why wasn't I admitted?
Avatar f tn Has anyone suddenly had to do these? I'm 36 weeks and they called me right before my appt Wednesday and want me to come in tomorrow instead and Friday for stress test. What's the point in these and will it affect my scheduled csection like make it earlier???
Avatar n tn Your doctor will give you more information but try not to let it stress you out too much until you have more test results and some confirmation. The likelihood is very very high that everything will turn out just fine in the end, though you may spend more time under observation than you'd like.
11849443 tn?1441302841 If they were only looking for arrhythmia they would only do the stress test but generally the stress echo is done to rule out heart disease so the doctor can safely say that any symptoms you are having are benign, regardless if they are able to catch or diagnose what those symptoms are. When people complain of heart symptoms the rule is to verify that the heart is structurally normal and then from there what actions need or don't need to be taken.
Avatar n tn Hello~I am 53 years old I have been diagnosed with gout even though a blood test for uric acid came out negative. I have had terrible inflammation in my metatarsal phalangeal joint and the smaller joint closer to the tip of my big toe. I have had a cortisone shot in each. I don't drink, eat shellfish and have a mostly plant based diet. I do have hypertension however and am terrified that maybe I have hurt my kidneys because I take the lowest dose of hypertension medicine.
351404 tn?1299489130 ll likely have a right heart catheterization. This test is often the most reliable way of diagnosing pulmonary hypertension. During the procedure, a cardiologist places a thin, flexible tube (catheter) into a vein in your neck or groin. The catheter is then threaded into your right ventricle and pulmonary artery. Right heart catheterization allows your doctor to directly measure the pressure in the main pulmonary arteries and right ventricle.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 33 yr old male who was diagnosed with exercise-induced hypertension after a stress test in 2008. I haven't had a test since then but was curious on whether this is something that will prevent me from doing certain activities, such as training for an Ironman distance race. Thank you!
Avatar m tn I recently had a stress echo test and had severe white coat hypertension meaning that going into the test I knew my heart rate was significantly higher than normal. I was very anxious about having a stress echo to say the least and wonder if this would skew the test? It was very hard for me to let go (relax) and have it return to a normal rate. At rest it was in the 110 to 120 range. My resting blood pressure was also high 170/72 which is high for me.
255738 tn?1230233362 did Pulmonary Function Test and Chest CT Scan, all good there. I saw my cardiologist and he ordered a nuclear PET stress test. Results follow. I have noticed on my PCP records that over the past 3 years or so my resting HR is in the 70's or 80's at their office. Bad cardiac family history. I also have mitral valve insufficiency; scheduled for echocardiogram on 02/26/2020. Any reason to be concerned? Reason for Appointment 1. PET - SP Vital Signs Wt 150 lbs, Ht 61 in, BMI 28.
Avatar f tn My EKG showed a few depolarizations the cardiologist said it was completely normal and ordered a stress test which was unremarkable a holter monitor which was also fine but my echo showed the following: Left and right ventricles : normal Left atrium : normal Right atrium mildly enlarged 4.1 normal range 2-4.0 Mild MVP with trivial regurg Tricuspid trivial regurg Jet 2.9 Pressure gradient 33 Rvsp 43 Mild/mod pulmonary hypertension.
Avatar m tn On the other hand, pulmonologist that I decided to consult with wants to move further to test for pulmonary hypertension. I feel conflicted whose advice to follow. In addition, I have a history of thyroid cancer (papillary stage 1, bening lymph nodes) and radioactive iodine treatment. I had total thyroidectomy about year ago. At the time of ECG I was hypothyroid with TSH level 5.3.
