I am revising the results of two different sets of HSV 1 + 2 testing I received 1 month apart. My healthcare providers who administer each test (primary doctor and gynecologist, respectively) said they do not know the test names that were given to me.
Test 1:
Solstas Labs
I was assigned a numerical value for both HSV 1 +2.
Test 2:
LabCorp (HSV 1+ 2 - specific Ab IgG
I was given <0.91 index for HSV 1, however, my healthcare provider said my HSV 1 tested for 0.91.

re prone to this type of irrational health anxiety, you really should consider a change in careers. Patients need healthcare providers who will do their best to care for them while they are at their most vulnerable. They don't need someone who has irrational phobias of catching diseases in ways that aren't even scientifically possible being responsible for their care.
Start taking prenatals now, for sure. Do some research on providers in your area if this is your first or if you don't already have someone - don't forget midwives can be wonderful providers esp if you want low-stress minimal-intervention care. Call around to set up either an initial appointment or a meet&greet interview to see if you mesh well with the providers.
Its called the tetra test i know because i kept freaking on my healthcare providers because they kept bumping me back, saying i was too early when i asked for it. They begin around 12 weeks but the jerks (although they were sweet n awesome didnt test me until 21 weeks) then when i got to my new provider they told me lucky i came because it wouldve been too late after 21 weeks. i got the results at 23 weeks. They transfered my blood work.
Grace left out an important part of the story. Same partner for 3 years now. Since its an on again off again situation for us I test usually once a year with 2010 being a busy year trying to get my status confirmed. We always use condoms but since he has had other partners I retest. Like I said to my knowledge he is STD free as well. Sorry if I am rambling.

That is a FANTASTIC idea, but a law like this would NEVER pass this congress...I had hope for the 113th congress but that has been quickly flushed down the drain....

Once I was told that an HIV test would be involved with my medical I developed an irrational fear regarding my dental experience after reading in the news about healthcare providers that are being sanctioned for using unsterile equipment. I guess my question is - Am I being irrational even worrying about this? Is it even possible to be infected by HIV in a healthcare setting?
I think I am just looking for some reassurance.

the false positive issues with the tests have been well known and discussed at the CDC std conferences for 8 years now. it's nothing new and providers should be well aware of the issue regardless. quest is just the only herpes igg blood test manufacturer who is very open about the issues with the test they offer which I actually really respect.
I was tested back in December 2008 and the result came back 1.50 for Hep C antibodies. Was misguided by a healthcare provider who made it seem like I had Hep c. Retested almost a month ago and it is now 1.16 for antibodies. Since the first test I saw an infection specialist, who based on my RIBA result that said negative that I did not have it. I also talked to the health department who had my results and stated that I did for sure NOT have Hep C and had nothing to worry about.
Anyway my Father, who was a doctor, told me that there was a new machine and it would eliminate the need for my Mom to undergo that horrible test. My Dad said there was only 1 machine in the country and he had an appointment in 6 weeks for my Mother. I was at that age when I just asked whatever popped into my head so I asked him how much it cost - the test with the new machine. This was before insurance paid everything. He said $25,000. I said "Wow, that's a lot of money".
I had a tb test at work. The nurse wore the same gloves on 4 coworkers. Am I at risk for any blood borne pathogen?
