stress test for babies

I am supposed to have a stress test for my baby in a couple days . I am worried its going to hurt. Has anyone has this done??

I have an apt today to do a stress test since am over due. I want to go in there informed, does anyone know what it is or whats going to happen?

There is a non stress test AND a stress test.... There are different reasons for both. During a non stress test they hook you up to a monitor and just keep an eye on baby's movements and heart rate... During a stress test they hook you up to a monitor but they induce contractions to see how baby reacts.

A stress test or a non stress test? Because they are different a non stress test is just a monitor that they put on you to measure the babies movements. A stress test actually induced contractions and is used to see how baby reacts, like if there is movement or if there is a drop in heart rate.

As far as i know, they dont unless you need it for some reason. I never had a stress test with my daughter.

ughhhh im so ready to have my baby girl :) has anyone had to take the stress test to make sure baby was ok before they went into labor or got induced... I go on monday to get test done to make sure my baby is ok... just wanted to know what they do, and how long it takes.......

In a low risk pregnancy a non stress test or stress test would only be warranted if their was a concern. However diabetics (both gestational and non) have a higher rate of stillborn babies (still rare, but better to be safe) so its common practice to keep a closer eye as the pregnancy nears the end.

My due date was yesterday and im scheduled for an ultrasound and a non stress test tomorrow then induction thursday. But whats a non stress test and whats the purpose?

ve heard of playing with your nipples to bring on labor supposedly but not for the non-stress test. =) I have to start going when I hit 32 weeks but basically what it is they put a belt around your waist to monitor the baby's heart rate and you have to sit there for like 1/2 an hour. I had it done with my son and it's not bad just kinda boring sitting there.

For me it was because we have a wood stove to heat our house and it was really dry in our bedroom, it just happens because there is extra blood flow during pregnancy And for the stress test I had one on Sunday , no ultrasound though, they just hooked me up on the machine for 30 mins and every time I felt baby kick I had to press a button and they got a paper record of the babys heart beat and kicks, I went in because I was having extreme pain all around my stomach and back and then I threw u

Had anyone had a bad non stress test. I got news today that my baby girl is not moving like she should. Her heart rate us low and the Dr said I need to keep and eye on her movements. Said if they don't pick up I have to call them and see what they want to do. I'm scared for my baby girl now I want her to be happy and healthy.

Honestly, it's better to get it out before the babies here so you can be strong for her, however, stress isn't the best for a baby as it can put you into labor! Ok they didnt call it a non-stress test while I was having it done tuesday. Guess they didnt want to make me paranoid or something.

You'll get your stomach hun. I wasn't showing then all of a sudden around 16 weeks I just started blowing up! Not all women show that early! While stress isn't good for you or baby it won't stop it from growing!
