242440 tn?1264519844 I am 42 and had double bypass of my LAD about 10 months ago. They used one mammary and a radial to do the bypass. My problem before bypass is that I had 5 stents (4 in the LAD and one under the 4 to close the gaps and reopen them after restenosis), but apparently I develop scar tissue or block up pretty agressively. Based on my symptoms, my cardiologist had me come in for an echo stress test.
862553 tn?1239060736 Of course i had the ct with my heart at rest before the stress test and then after the stress test... But am wondering what you would think is possibly going on. My maternal grandfather died because his heart actually exploded and my father himself has had bypass surgery... so there is a hitory in our family all my sibling's take meds for high blood pressure and one sister takes heart medication already ... Could you please let me knwo what your thgouhts are on this ...
242440 tn?1264519844 But I had to go to the ER for symptoms and they did a heart cath and that is when they determined I needed bypass. So guess the only test that is fail proof so far for me is the heart cath. But I'm sure others have had much success w/ less invasive tests.
1491262 tn?1288413065 Wednesday , they said he had some blockage and they saw a place on his heart they want to check out he has had triple bypass and had a heart attack last year . they want to do some kind of dye test now what could this mean ? and what might the dr. do im trying to understand all of this .
Avatar m tn Each test is progressivly more accurate. An EKG is about 50% accurate, a normal stress test is about 65% accurate and a nuclear stress test is about 85% accurate overall but if you back out the false positives, it will find significant heart disease 97% of the time. Having said that, are you working with your doctor to find a cause other than heart disease?
Avatar n tn Generally, blockages less than 50% are left alone but need to be monitored, up to 75%-80% usually can be stented, 100% blockages generally require bypass. As for the damage to the heart, it may not be a blockage, it could be scare tissue damage or an electrical impulse issue, that's why they are doing the cath. I have no blockages yet have EF 17% and stress test images show severe damage and restricted perfusion.
Avatar m tn The doctor referred to it as an extra heartbeat, which apparently is a PVC. He ordered a stress test on me (I had one done a year ago and it was fine). He said this time the stress test came back somewhere in the middle. Not bad, not great so he wants to do an Angiogram to find out why I am experiencing this arrhythmia. He scared me because he spoke of blockages and surgery and all that. Of course he also said that it may come up clean and the arrhythmia is not related to a blockage.
Avatar m tn What it is was, i`m a 39 year old male I had my stress test and echo yesterday and i`m crapping myself about the results, the positives i`m taking from it are there was no increase in chest pain, i didnt collapse, there werent any ecg changes from the treadmill, pulse was nice and regular throughout and no contrast needed for the images from the echo, the negatives BP was sky high, was very tachy and was out of breath (i am after all unfit lol).
Avatar m tn Reversible means the blockages are not total, and no heart muscle is damaged, so intervention with stents or bypass will make things much improved. If the blockages are not severe enough, they may try to help with medication. I think you will be required for an Angiogram next to see the exact extent of the disease.
Avatar n tn For some insight, vein grafts are more susceptible to closing up than the Internal Mammary Artery (IMA).The terms single bypass, double bypass, triple bypass, quadruple bypass and quintuple bypass refer to the number of coronary arteries bypassed in the procedure. You may have had 3 coronary arteries bypassed and two grafts!?
Avatar f tn My husband is 66 and recently had a SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging Study (stress test). It was essentially normal, with the exception of the following: "there is a moderate sized reversible defect of the inferior and apical walls". The left ventricle was normal in size and the ejection fractions were 57% at rest and 63% post stress. The internet resources suggest that such a defect could be indicative of a prior silent heart attack. Is this true?
Avatar f tn test with myocardial perfusion imaging revealed mild to moderate ischemia involving the basal anterior septum and mid anterior septal walls. He is status post recent (4/7/08) four-vessel bypass graft with a LIMA to the LAD. My husband has been labeled a walking piece of plaque by his cardiologist. With his open-heart surgery being so recent, with him being diabetic, and he has never had any symptoms of his illness - should this recent test be looked into further by your opinion?
Avatar f tn I had a nuclear stress test & they found "mild ischemia in the inferior apical area" with an ejection fraction of 75%-I am symptomatic with angina and SOB & take toprol xl and imdur but still have some symptoms-what does the stress test mean in laymans terms-thanks
Avatar m tn After a nuclear stress test ordered by my GP, I was referred to a Cardiologist who advised that I needed to have a heart catherization done. He explained that the procedure would uncover and pinpoint any existing coronary artery problems. He also explained that, when problems/blockages are diagnosed, 25% of his patients needed bypass surgery, another 25% needed angioplasty, stents, or both, and the remaining 50% could be treated with medications.
Avatar m tn I am 61, female, had a stress test & reported diagnosis is "moderate inferior ischemia". What is the explanation (definition) of this diagnosis and what are most common treatment options/choices?
Avatar m tn Five days ago my father in law had a quadruple bypass . Today he was diagnosed with " Congestive Heart Failure " Is this normal after a bypass surgery ? If it is common , does it usually get better . I don't really understand the severity of this condition . Any help would be appreciated .
Avatar m tn they have called it angina. but I have No blockages found. Chemical Stress test is fine. But on the treadmill have thobbing back pain between shoulder blades, caused by activity, exciting. nitro doesn't not have any effect .Blood pressure soars when attacks starts. what could it be. Have saw 3 cardio doctors Had the pain for 20 years. 70 years old. triple bypass done in 1998.
Avatar n tn As long as the pain is getting less, it is going the right direction. It is basically a year long recovery process after an open heart surgery. IT takes longer the older a person is. If you find it is getting WORSE, talk to your surgeon. Maybe some physical therapy would help some. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Every medical test has false negatives because neither humans nor machines operate with 100% accuracy. However you are in very serious jeopardy whenever you receive a false negative result on a Cardiolite stress tests. That's because of an astonishing fact about cardiologists in the U.
Avatar n tn I was told the result of my stress test revealed a sizable fixed region of diminished perfusion involving inferior wall of the ventricle extending to the apex, also a less smaller less conspicuous focus of diminished perfusion involving the anterior wall of the left ventricle, what does all this mean?
Avatar n tn recent stress test revealed anterior apex difficulty what might this mean and what treatment may be needed?
920737 tn?1250348210 56 year old male had stent fitted 3 years ago, followed by double bypass 18 months ago like you I was getting chest pains angina was back had stress test 8 weeks ago. The results showed restricted blood flow to different areas to the heart, had angiogram two weeks ago this showed my bypass had failed also the stent area was blocked plus two veins to the back of the heart.
Avatar m tn no difference in vasculation and EF of 50-55%. I had quad bypass in 1991 after mild heart attack. Transplant threw me into full blown type 2 diabetes.
1348086 tn?1370783185 That all depends. Wearing a holter monitor on a lazy sunday may mean it wouldn't see anything wrong. A stress test sees your heart at rest before the test begins, and then when working hard. There is a possibility of course that an event could be missed by both.
Avatar m tn how often should I have cardiograph or stress test after bypass surgery it has now been 7 years.
