Common Questions and Answers about Stress symptoms numb

Avatar f tn Hi and thanks for using the forum. What you have described could be related to stress- have you been going through a particularly stessful time lately? That being said, I still think that you should be evaluated by your doctor. Night sweats and pain/numbness in your arms are not "little" symptoms, they are serious symptoms and you should find out what is causing them. If it is anxiety, then stress managment and antianxiety medications could help.

Avatar f tn Hello~Your doctor is right about stress being a contributor to the symptoms you are having. I would continue to take the Vitamin D, it does not work overnight, also, add a good, multi-mineral supplement to your diet, you could also be low on magnesium and potassium. Numbness can also be caused by impinged nerves, I suggest seeing either an osteopath or chiropractor and telling them what is happening, they may be able to help.
Avatar f tn I am a 24 yr old female. I have been having some frightening symptoms for the last few months. A few months ago I was sitting at my computer and my lips went numb and my heart started racing. I went to the living room to sit down and try not to freak out. Soon after, the back of my head and my arms went numb. My family showed up and I wanted to leave the room so they didn't notice anything but I stood up and felt like I was going to faint.
620060 tn?1235515791 I've had a sore throat forever!! I do most of the time. Just scratchy. Now, the past few days my throat feels numb, like I've sprayed Chloraseptic in there or something. It comes and goes, but it's an icky feeling. It makes me feel really anxious. Does anyone know why it would be doing this? Another newer symptom is tingly, itchy legs, and a vibrating feeling in my hip. The vibrating feels like a cell phone vibrating in my hip pocket.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old male, smoker for 12 years, recently slowing down sugar consumption and recently diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. I noticed a few days ago that my cheeks felt a little numb, the sort of feeling when novicaine begins to wear off. I could feel my fingers on them but would catch a sort of numb cold feeling constantly. I decided to have a massage done and it seemed to help.
Avatar m tn Greetings, here's my story in short: I'm 22 years old, and was diagnosed with ulnar neuritis on my left elbow august '11, with pretty minor symptoms (pinky was statically numb for a 2-3 weeks). After it passed, I had 6 months of just an odd sensation of touch on my pinky and no numbness at all. However around mid February '12, my pinky and ring finger started having moments of numbness again (not 100% static).
Avatar f tn Stress yes, it starts with horrible cold/flu like symptoms and then after I was out my hands, shins to my toes and face is numb. Oddly enough this has happened a few times before as far as I can remember it's when I'm on my period but it's not an every months occurrenc The last two times it has happened I have had a fever of 101° and higher.
Avatar n tn We went to the doctor who states this is related to stress and that the bumps are stress bumps. Nonetheless, my wife states she is not stressed out since it occurs too often even when she is completely happy for days or weeks. Any suggestions on what this could be or whats causing this pain and numbness only of the left hand?
Avatar f tn I have been in and out of the hospital and I am 23 years old. My right arm was numb for about 3 weeks and then my right leg went numb as well. My leg felt better after a couple of days and my right arm has very bring blue veins and before I was never even able to see my veins! I am very worried and two neurologists later, they still can't tell me whats wrong with me. Anyone have any ideas and can you please share them? thanks.
Avatar m tn I think that at least some , if not all of your symptoms are stress related. It must be difficult for you with both your parents so unwell. If at all possible you should take some time away from your "physically demanding job"and take a break. Learn some relaxation techniques and apply them. Don't let your doctor give you sedatives or antidepressants because these will only whitewash your symptoms and not address the root cause. Good luck and take care.

Avatar f tn The numbness has spread so far that now both of my feet are numb down to the beginning of the heel. I also feel burning nerve pains in my feet along with the tingling, 'buzzing' feeling. I'd like to know if this is something to worry about, if it's caused by the car crash or something else? Any help is really appreciated!
Avatar n tn and again this hr in July! He had the nuclear stress test done as well, where his fingers went numb in the area where they placed the IV as well as a burn on the top skin of his hand! Has anyone ever experience these symptoms!
487969 tn?1249313291 I also get numb feeling in my arms and legs and loose my ability to move them would that be from stress to?
Avatar f tn Hi and thank you both for your comments. Candy maybe you could ask your neuro if stress can bring on a week of these symptoms? I was told it is psychosomatic but it seems very strange that you could experience such physical symptoms for a week. I am sceptical and it is making me even more nervous and scared and probably aggrivating all the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi Lisa - That certainly is a list! nothing I read screamed MS to me, but I'm not a doctor. It seems that MS tends to impact an individual area(s) for an extended time, rather than move as quickly as you describe. In MS symptoms are the result of damage to nerves in individual locations. This kind of damage takes a while to build up and doesn't jump around. You can have multiple areas of inflammation, but the symptoms they cause tend to be consistent.
Avatar f tn t hurt) feels like electrify is going thru my legs -i have had RLS ( i call hibby jeebies) for a long time now -i went to the dr about a month ago because i have been anxious for awhile now, stress at home and work, and he put my on low dose of zoloft and i thought my symptoms would go away because i thought they were associated to stress but my anxiety went away but nothing else.
Avatar f tn I tend to tremble in my hands and all of these symptoms came one at a time. I am 40 years old and worried about what this might be.
Avatar m tn Now I watch my diet, exercise 30 mins a day, drink chamomile tea to reduce my stress, and get 7-8 hours sleep a day. Also try to forget thing that stress me. As long as u understand the anxiety/panic attack, u need to learn how to relax. Take control of the situation. If in doubt, do like crs281 did. Drive to ER and wait outside. If situation didn't improve, then check in ER. This might save u thousands & thousands of dollars of medical bill.
1640131 tn?1301488894 It has multiple symptoms and signs and is a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs.
Avatar f tn Im confused about things. I've read that heat can cause symptoms, as can stress or lack of sleep. So with MS your symptoms can come and go? How do you know if you are having a relapse? Also, how do they determine what type of MS you have. Since I have only had 1 attack I am assuming they don't know? The drug rep from avonex asked if I had relapsing remitting and I don't recall that my neuro told me what I had.
Avatar n tn and are you under a lot of stress/pressure at the moment? i had this once and went to my GP and i was also having migraines - it was easily sorted with some medication i took everytime i felt a migraine coming on.
Avatar m tn I hasten to add that they were not actually numb but felt faintly different from normal as if they would feel numb if the sensation were much stronger. Hand function was normal. I was able to practice my guitar with no loss of strength or agility. The hand also resolved that night. However, since that time I've been feeling the feather-tickling sensation just to the left of the tip of my nose in an area of about 1/16"-1/8" square.
Avatar n tn I still have tingling in both arms and fingers (mainly outside two) Now over the past few days I have developed a numb/tingly chin. I googled numb/tingly chin and it said it is an early indicator of MS or cancer from numb chin syndrome. So now I am freaking out about that. It is my whole chin and includes my lips and feels like when Novocaine from the dentist is wearing off. This continues all day especially when I am thinking about it.
