Common Questions and Answers about Stress symptoms nih

stress

645800 tn?1466860955 Yesterday when I went to the VA I got very stressed out and soon found that I was developing TN pain on the left side of my face. once I got home and slept for about 15 hours the TN stopped. This was purely stress from my PTSD symptoms. I know that stress can aggravate MS symptoms, but I'm looking for research or other documentation of this fact to present to the VA so that they will treat the effects of this stress as being service connected.

I still have my fingers crossed.

333672 tn?1273792789 The New York Times has an interesting article on the Undiagnosed Diseases Program at NIH where they are taking a team approach to trying to diagnose or identify what's going on with people who have complicated problems that have eluded diagnosis. They are also doing a lot of genetic investigation to see if they can pick up any patterns that way. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/22/magazine/22Diseases-t.html A couple of interesting tidbits.

Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.

2009132 tn?1327911085 I agree with JGF25, Numbness and tingle are usually neurological symptoms from nerve compression or irritation. Given your additional symptoms of pressure in the head, you most definitely need to go to your doctor very soon. There may be some blood pressure issues.
572651 tn?1530999357 Imagine what progress could be made if everyone on March 17 drank just one less beer and donated that money to NIH or to NMSS for research. This also tells us how underfunded the NIH is for MS research. I've shared this thought over on my Facebook page and encourage all of you to share it as well, it helps to illustrate how our priorities need to shift. http://msactivist.blogspot.com/2012/03/federal-fridays_09.

Avatar m tn Just checking in regarding my low/no risk situation. I know you've assessed my situation into the ground, but I think keeping a status update might be helpful for others who are concerned/don't take direction too well. I've seen the term "worry-wells" tossed around. Since my initial post in this forum I've taken 4 tests, all of which came back NEGATIVE. Despite all of my symptoms, stress, anxiety, and fear... I still don't have HIV.
Avatar m tn a year ago I had a stress induced cardiovascular event (similar to a heart attack) and during the evaluation I was also diagnosed with atherosclerosis, having blockage in several arteries, and 2 stents place in one artery. Avatar m tn I was on prednisone for 3 months, had trouble tapering due to symptoms of adrenal insufficiency. So I was switched to hydrocortisone and haven't been able to taper. I am on 30 mg (20mg AM/10 mg in afternoon). My main issue is tachyardia with standing and any stress and no ones seems to know why. I felt worse at 20mg HC and my energy has improved going up in dose, but the tachycardia has not. My am cortisol was 9.3 nmol/L. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I suspect that this, combined with some elevated stress at work and the stress/anxiety of my ongoing divorce procedings (stress being one of the reported causes of tinnitus) may be linked. I will be addressing this with my doctor in a few days, and today is my first effort at researching tinnitus and whether it is connected with Zoloft.
Avatar f tn storyid=20614 Also, another article showing how hard it is to dx (it was a long one) talked about the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program. It stated, "Among the two dozen patients who have been through the program so far, there have been just two diagnoses, when patients admitted for neurological symptoms were found to have rare forms of multiple sclerosis." I didn't realize there were rare forms of MS. Does anyone know what is considered rare forms?
Avatar f tn Theres not much information online about pregnancy post CABG.
