Avatar m tn Try to alternate between heavy and light, aerobic and un-aerobic, upper and lower body-well you know what I mean- and proper rest in between If you have any inflammation, infection, fatigue, stress, that's a sign to slow things down, because if you don't, those conditions WILL! And should you feel you're still struggling after a while, perhaps you need to see a doctor and get checked. Best wishes.
429326 tn?1282328354 Do keep in mind that real, phycially based symptoms cause stress, and stress can then worsen symptoms. I am sure your father is just hoping to get you some peace of mind while your diagnosis is in the air. As for the neuro telling you about the symptoms of stress/depression, I would take her remarks under consideration, but why take them as the bottom line? Would you let the dentist diagnose a foot problem?
Avatar m tn I would get back to your doctor or even go to the ER, and be totally honest about your symptoms and drinking and drug use, as it can alter or mask symptoms. And be sure to get bloodwork done! The drinking especially is likely causing at least some of your problems- but there is help available for that as well, if you really want to get better.
Avatar n tn jomaque~ sorry for the delay in responding to you . . . holiday travels! You have many questions here and hopefully I can offer you some info and I'm sure others will chime in and offer you additional information. I don't know if her symptoms are stress related or not, they sound more like allergic reactions to something. Given that they appear on her face, they could be a reaction to cosmetics or cleansers . . .
Avatar n tn In the past few years I have been under a lot of stress and that is likely the reason I have gotten a few cold sores in the last year or so. The most recent started in late April - I felt the prodrome symptoms on April 26th and it ran a normal course, with the scab going away within about 2 wks.
Avatar m tn I speak from experience as a type 1 diabetic for 34 years. In my case, stress (either GOOD or BAD stress) causes my blood sugar levels to drop and I become hypoglycemic. I beleive that any kind of stress in my case speeds up metabolism, burning off more carbs and perhaps speeding up the absorption of insulin into my body. The combination causes severe hypoglycemia at times.
Avatar f tn Some types of sensory neuropathies occur and progress very slowly, others sort of wax and wane (with flare-ups) and some are progressive. One of the most common causes of neuropathy is diabetes, and sometimes only glucose intolerances, or abnormal rises in blood sugar after a glucose load can be the only indication (this is called a oral glucose tolerance test. Other causes include but are not limited to hereditary/genetic causes, autoimmune problems and demyelinating diseases (such as CIDP).
Avatar n tn I am not an expert of polycythemia but there are both common and preventable causes (such as smoking), rarer and treatable causes ( any right to left shunt) or very rare causes such as some types of leukemias. I do not mean to alarm you, but you may want to speak to a generalist to see exactly how this polycythemia has been worked up, and what is its cause.

Avatar f tn Hi there - I am a 32 year old woman - good bp and normal cholesterol. I have suffered from palpatations for a long time ( early 20's) I had a holter and echo done years ago and it came back as PVC's. Recently my dr rechecked everything and I did another echo and loop monitor. Echo is normal, but the loop showed short runs of SVT's, he wants me to now go for a stress echo to rule out cardiomyopathy....this is scaring me greatly.

Avatar n tn Another cause, if your symptoms are associated with tinnitus (ear ringing) and hearing loss is called Meniere’s disease and can be treated with medications and sometimes surgery. And so on, several other causes from inner ear problems exist. Less commonly, vertigo can also be due to problems in the brain. Avatar m tn Iodine is often used. Stress reduction, as with most health problems, is essential. Nutritional support and stress reduction are all some need. What about T3? Some folks feel better with a small dose of T3. T3 alone or with antidepressants may help in depression. And some respond best to Armour Thyroid, which has both T4 and T3 (from ground up pig thyroids). The use of T3 is controversial because most studies show little benefit. The studies, however, are inconclusive.
Avatar m tn Has your doctor ruled out other causes for the dry cough? Stress/anxiety can cause you to have trouble breathing, just make sure all other causes are ruled out first. A dry cough accompanied by trouble breathing should be checked out. I hope you can work thru this without medication, therapy can be a big help. But if you can't, you need to view this as any other medical condition for which medication is given.
