Avatar m tn This all started when I took in 2 kittens from a lady who has passed them around to a few houses trying to get a cat to nurse them. My cats did so I kept them. There were no signs because their eyes were still shut. Now that they have opened the two I took in have it the worst and online it says its from being to a lot of different homes with different bacteria. Avatar f tn I came home from work the other night to find my 13 1/2 year old cat Finster breathing very heavy and through his mouth. I knew right away something was wrong, but it was too late to bring him to the vet. I considered taking him to the emergency vet clinic, but to was a 25 minute car ride, and he freaks out whenever I put him in the car or the cat carrier, and I didn't want to stress him out any further. I decided to wait until morning, as my local vet is just around the corner.
460185 tn?1326077772 If S wants my cat's number then that means he wants to get my already maniac baby involved in world domination. I'll look for signs in the house, like hidden walls or secret passages. No wonder Abby keeps following me!! He wants to know my location at all times...our cats are spying on us!!!! There's no privacy anmore!!! Wat can we do?
11362202 tn?1417801577 Yes yes and yes. New people and change in schedule and her stress can stress animals too.
562511 tn?1285904160 Also, the queen was 9 months old and was told this growth happens more often in young cats following delivery. Sadly to say she had to be put to sleep because the bill would have been $2000.00 - for starters! So what is this condition called as described above? She can't remember what the vet said. She is devastated, as am I. BTW - her litter will be ok. They were only nursing for naps. Thank you.
Avatar f tn s Office not long ago and was in good condition...no signs of anything being wrong (by exam and blood work - check up). However, this just began over the weekend. It is very strange. Any ideas why he would be doing this? There are other cats outside living between our house and the neighbors. We feed them. Cats seem to find our house (they must talk to each other and let each other know we are nice and will feed them, even if we go broke). Thanks ahead of time.
Avatar m tn The long and the shot of things is that for HIV diagnosis there is simply no substitute for testing. In addition, sometimes after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned. This in turns leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times. With respect to your situation: 1.
Avatar n tn seems like my cats in pain when she comes in heat, she looks like a rabbit when she props herself, and every touch she acts like that, sometimes when she's touched i wonder if it feels to her like a thousand needles tips....but this last time she was in heat it seems like its wearing her out..she looks like she hasn't slept...and starting to act as if shes out of it..she EVEN act as if she like my energetic grandsons (1,4, &7) lol...
Avatar m tn At your cats age, if this is a new problem, he is probably ill. My last cat, was a good cat all his life until he started having litter box issues. Eventually he died from a large tumor that was affecting his being able to urinate. He also had a neurological problem that may have contributed to this behavior. Old age stuff. Observe your cat to see if there are any other signs of change. It may be the beginning of the end.
Avatar f tn The next day my brother found a homeless kitten trapped in the woods behind our house in a storm and I took it in also.. now they are walking On my furniture and have ruined my office chair in my bedroom. I am very stressed and start cramping when I get so aggravated and don't know what to do.. my furniture is new and I can't afford to buy more.. what was I thinking, what's wrong with my head...
Avatar n tn hi you can find info and links on the following thread that was previously posted... http://www.medhelp.
215234 tn?1305142961 has been playing with it, I found it under the back of our bed, so shes obviously carried upstairs in her mouth,....I swear this Cat is actually a Dog in Cats clothing...lol Last time round I was fairly sure she'd had a leaf off a Xmas plant that was way out of reach to a normal Cat, thankfully our Vet said it wasn''t very toxic, just irritant, so would cause foaming at the mouth.......
Avatar f tn She has thriod problems which i was told was better left untreated due to her stress of taking medicine. She was also exposed to high levels of Carbon minoxide. She in last 48 hours has quit eating much yet is still drinking water. How can i help her until the vet gets back and are the signs anything other than stroke.
Avatar f tn There are signs there that ask people not to remove the cats, that they are working cats. There are no rats in this famous botanical garden. Also, no dangerous poisons to kill rodents (and people). A cat is not a person. A cat is a fine hunter. He should live the life he was designed for. If allowed to, he is man's friend.
1979418 tn?1432135441 No talking sensse into her, so she decides they can live in her mini van... she diappears again, drives to my sister in law work where two cats apparently jump out the window, so we are down to 9 cats in the cat van parade.... She ends up back at my aunts and spends the night there, cats int he van and I am able to arrange with animal control to investigate. But, they get there and can't seize the cats cause its on private property.
Avatar f tn I would definitely put him in a time out whenever he tries to hit the cats or does anything else that is unacceptable. You could also try taking toys away or a reward system where he can earn them back if he's plays nice with the cats. Whenever he hits the cats, just say calmly Don't hurt the cats.
Avatar m tn The medication, Amitriptyline is very helpful for stress in cats. Additionally, feed an all wet, canned diet, Use Cosequin for cats, and give a cranberry supplement.
Avatar m tn Perhaps looking into his stomach could help. Like I told you, health conditions and External Factors are the two leading causes of stress in cats. I believe your cat suffers stress caused by external agents. I know my cat’s behavior changed a bit when he was suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I prepare my cats foods and it has worked for me. But I was 100% sure my cat had food allergies.
Avatar n tn The good news is that these signs are more common in dogs than cats, but some veterinarians are just reluctant to take the chance with long term use of steroids. Check out www.aerokat.com to see a version of a feline "inhaler" I hope this helps!
152660 tn?1291755571 within 12 to 24 hours after ingestion, cats will have severe irreversible kidney failure, with limited or absent urine production. The cats will be severely depressed, with vomiting and diarrhea. The prognosis for patients that are seen after the onset of kidney failure is grave. Dialysis and kidney transplantation would offer the best hope for such patients. Your veterinarian should be able to detect whether the cat has kidney failure or other organ dysfunction with blood tests.
Avatar f tn I personally agree with opus88, anyways no its not contageous in anyway , cats are territorial animals they fight with other cats to protect their territory or to acquire more territory. As a result, bite wounds are common in cats, especially when cats are allowed outside. These wounds frequently result in an infection that can be quite debilitating, especially if left untreated. Bite wounds are more common in male cats than in females.
Avatar n tn The more exposure to light the more shedding. Cats the go outside part of the day will shed normally and grow a new coat in summer. In the fall as the days grow shorter their begins to thicken for winter. Indoor cats exposed to light may shed and grow a coat year round. When A cat with a double coat begins to shed their appearance can be alarming and at first suggest a kin disease, This is because "undercoat" is shed in a mosaic or patch pattern giving a moth eaten look.
1232362 tn?1333135406 We had an upper resp, virus go through our house and 2 cats were fine. The 3rd I thought had mucus in his throat or trouble breathing due to stuffy nose like the rest and didn't realise his distress till he coughed up a frightening gob of green phlegm. Bob spent last night @ the vet w/pneumonia. happily (so far-say prayers for my boy) all signs looking good for him and he's coming home tonight.
Avatar f tn It is my understand (and experience) that on average cats sleep about 13-16 hrs. per day. We have 2 cats that are "night prowlers" and spend most all day sleeping soundly. Hope that helps.
152660 tn?1291755571 I have a 7 mo kitten who I got at 4 months old in December. He was a bottle baby from 2 days old. In the time since I got him his eyes (one at a time and both) have swelled up, shut and watered repeatedly. It will be like that for about 2 days and then stop watering and open back up. Probably 6 times so far. I know one time he jumped into the litter box when another kitty was there and got litter flicked in his face. But other than that I have no idea what it could be.
Avatar m tn My mother currently has 5 cats all of which get along except for one, the oldest (I believe he is about 8-years-old now). 3 of the 4 cats like to chase him around, and he really doesn't have the freedom to walk around the area as he once could. This has really caused him lots of stress and has pretty much driven him to the neighbors' houses--all of the cats are indoor-outdoor cats, but the other 4 like to be near the house and keep all other cats away.
