Avatar m tn Kava Kava is absolutely safe, If its dosage should be taken in proper amount. kava has been prescribed as an effective folk remedy for anxiety, insomnia and stress because of its good results.
Avatar f tn Hi there again! I drink Kava tea when needed. I'm not sure if they make capsules anymore. Yogi Tea makes a stress relief tea with Kava in it. Tastes good too. In the midst of a slight panic attack...I say "slight" because they are nowhere near as bad as they were years ago. In fact, I should probably call them anxiety attacks. Anyhow, I make a cup of tea and allow it to steep for ten minutes. Worked just like a lorezapam for me.
652671 tn?1353712165 I used to order organically grown Kava root from the South Pacific, but you can get extracts at health food stores. If you want to start with something mild, I suggest Kava Stress Relief Tea by Yogi. It tastes pretty decent compared considering it contains kava. Straight kava kind of has a nasty taste and numbs your mouth/tongue/lips.
Avatar f tn The best way to get your nutrition is by eating healthly. Although vitamins can provide some of the things that we do not take in in our diets, the absolute BEST source of these nutrients is in FOOD, because food contains types of phytonutrients that synthetic compunds just cannot reproduce. The more whole foods you eat the better (natural as opposed to processed, packaged, refined, and "fast food") Of course vegetables and fruits are of vital importance.
Avatar f tn In a number of tests, Relora has been shown to reduce excess cortisol levels associated with stress while improving mood and reducing stress. It acts via the brain’s GABA and serotonin systems, which are both important in controlling anxiety. NO caffeine!! It is important to understand that your diet should supply you with all the antioxidants and building material for antioxidant enzymes. If you're not getting those, then add some supplements.
Avatar f tn Kava is probably the herbal relaxant most like a benzo, but don't take it if you have liver problems. I don't think it's really that dangerous, but a few people had bad reactions to taking standardized extracts. But for overall systemic relief, passionflower is probably even better, but natural medicine is complicated and seldom uses just one remedy or goes after just one body system.
Avatar n tn Have anyone tried kava kava and how long is the reaction time for helping with sleep at night?
Avatar n tn I'm trying to come off citalapram 40mg and want to try kava kava as a replacement but can I take them together? I have the same problem with my sex drive, nearly non existent, seems to be the norm on these tablets. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I am just worried what the dr told me and think if it is worth it to even take a chance by taking Kava. I heard passionflower also works well for anxiety but no side effects like Kava. Any comment?
Avatar f tn I tool Kava a few times and it seems to work but have not taken the Xanax yet? I am still worry about the potential side effect on liver for Kava but also the side effect on Xanax? Will both Kava and Xanax help to ease my dizziness and headache casue by anxiety and which one works better on those? Any suggestion is helpful. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Kava works great for the ease of Xanax withdrawal. It relieves stress and anxiety caused from panic disorder and anxiety disorders caused from PTSD and other known issues. People that mention that Kava "destroys" your liver are incorrect. If you purchase legitimate Kava then you shouldn't worry about it doing any harmful effects to your body.
Avatar n tn What i suggest first before you go on any type of medication, is to try some kava kava (health food store), low dose, like 45mg, and see how you feel on that. That may calm you down and make you feel at ease and is not a proscription, but you cannot stay on it forever. Also try excercising or meditation. Let me know how you are doing.
798555 tn?1292787551 I have insomnia from stress, I think. Lately I only get a good sleep every other day. I have always been this way, but its worse now from the STRESS of being unemployed since Feb this year. Since I am hypothyroid , I should avoid natural hormone based sleep aids like Melatonin, it can interfere with thyroid hormone meds. I should add, my thyriod levels are good its not that. Tylonal PM makes me groggy the next day -not good. Cough syrup will make me sleep for 4 hours, then I wake.
Avatar f tn m now 32+3 weeks and been so stressed because his dad promised to send some money for groceries for him ( he is on their food stamps and gets 674 dollars in disability) well no money has come and we have had to spend so much money on him and skipped two major bills this month to get extra groceries and make sure he had a good birthday. Well today my hubby text me and said his check was almost 300 dollars extra for money his job has owed him since last year!!!
Avatar m tn Im 16 weeks pregnant. My stress is at an all time now between work, school, family issues and trying to make sure my baby's okay. I just need some stress relief techniques i've tried walking, talking to friends but none of its working it just leads to me feeling depressed for some time. Mind you i've picked up on my bad habit of smoking cigarettes but not a whole cig or not that often but it makes me feel like crap so I need something else beside the just breathe technique.
4268628 tn?1375041176 So I am 17 weeks now and feeling g physically ill due to stress. Any ideas for stress relief? Most of my go to activities aren't working. Between a creep video taping my daughter (who's 2) while at my in laws and my fil telling me I'm blowing things out of proportion, my husband reverting to whatever his dad says is law, and being the mean evil board member Sharing with 50 members their dues are increasing 3Xs what they're used to.....I'm sick and cramping.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used kava-kava (Piper methysticum) as a sleep aid and/or to help qwell anxiety symptoms? Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn So I finally was able to try the kava tea that was recomened to me to help with stress..it took me some time to find it....well not only did it relax me it helped me sleep for the second night in a row.. it is an all natural tea but like with any aiding product some may want to consult their dr.
Avatar f tn It isn't that chamomile wouldn't be allowed, it would just have to be taken apart in time from the remedies. (Wanted to put this on the site; i've already pm'd the poster). For anyone else interested, what I said was I don't know what honey balm is, but that it might mean lemon balm, which is a relaxant (as well as an anti-viral). Neither is a strong essential oil, so both should be okay, but taken an hour or two apart from taking the remedies. Same with eating.
Avatar n tn Kava kava also helps with stress s
1954418 tn?1327275446 there are some natural things you can try a hot bath works wounders I found some tea that really works to relax you its called YOGI kava stress relief tea some walmarts care it with the other teas otherwise you can get it on line its as good as xanex and non addicting try to google some in your area its worth the 5 bucks i seap 2 tea bags for 10min put a spoon of sweet n low in it and in 15 min im relaxed untill you get the tea exerosize helps good luck and God bless....
Avatar n tn But trust me when I tell you that they do NOT help with anxiety. The only natural things you can try for that are Valerian root, and Kava root (a.k.a. Kava Kava). Valerian root should be purchased in capsules. Don't take the Valerian root on the same day you try the Kava. They should be takenon seperate days. Buy the Kava Kava in the form of tea. Try drinking it at night to see how it effects you (or if it effects you). Only buy organic Kava tea.
Avatar f tn Yes I do, almost weekly. You would think that after several years of experience that we would know how to prevent these symptoms from coming, but I'm beginning to believe that I am just hard-wired to respond to certain situations differently than others. Sure, our minds have every little bit to do with it, but automatic responses are harder to control.
