922573 tn?1304099329 Hello everyone, I am new to the Pain Management community and have only been in pain management for a few months. I am healing from a very painful surgery. I will spare everyone the details, but would love some feedback from anyone who has some input. I have significantly reduced the amount of medication since my operation. Initially, I was prescribed to take medication every 3-4 hours since I was in excruciating pain. I now only need the medicine twice a day to keep pain under control.
Avatar m tn They include methods for management of both stress and anxiety, in addition to a good sleep supportive lifestyle. There's no good reason why exercise especially earlier in the day should negatively impact your sleep. For most people, intense exercise increases NREM or deep sleep, which is when the body repairs and rejuvenates itself. There's no reason to think you're any different.

Avatar m tn If conservative management fails or further degeneration is noted, alternative modes of management may be considered. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating orthopedician. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Pharmacological therapy includes short course of appropriate sedatives and Hypnotics against prescription. Non-benzodiazepines are effective in delayed onset sleep disorder and help to initiate the sleep. I suggest you to consult physician.

Avatar f tn In some cases it also radiates to the area around the eyes and the occipital region, comprising the back, middle and lower parts of the head. The main causes are stress, diet, hormonal changes, the weather and the environment, odors, noise and changes in the sleep-wake cycle.Over the counter pain relievers could help with the pain. But if this persists, it would be best to see your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Stress can hurt the baby but it takes a lot to. Me and my boyfriend fight so bad all the time now bc I'm so hormonal! I get cramps afterwards sometimes but other then that everything is okay with the baby. Its normal to get crazy every now and then especially being pregnant now!
Avatar f tn This typically results from excessive stress and/or anxiety experienced during waking hours. If so, some basic stress management will help, along with getting some good sweaty exercise most every day. Very important for you to set and keep a consistent sleep-wake schedule 7 days a week, especially a consistent wake time. Allow no more time in bed than you normally need. Don't sleep in, and don't nap, because that may in effect steal sleep from you the following night.
Avatar n tn You might benefit from seeing a pain management specialist, who will try different methods your regular doctor doesn't know about or have time to explore with you. Also, ask for a referral to an Occupational Therapist who will give you exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting the damaged structures, and help you figure out safer, more ergonomic ways to perform your job duties. Good luck!

Avatar n tn Lots of ideas and methods online on how to manage stress. There are a lot of resources out there. But take a deep breath, try to find time to relax for a few minutes and then use it as motivation to find solutions. Do not take any abuse however, if this is that kind of relationship leave asap!
Avatar f tn hey there.. have you tried any other methods of pain management? there are ALOT out there. if you've tried it all, then i too, would suggest someone doles out your meds. sometimes tho, the problem is, they stop working. thats why alot of people ramp them up (well, part of the reason, anyway.) i didn't think i could do without the meds because of pain too. but i'm more pain free now than ever. not to say we have the same pain.. i do not know how you feel.
Avatar f tn Hello Fellow Floridian, I'm an old hippie - who never used marijuana. That said, it's my opinion that it should have been legalized years ago. I do know ppl that have successfully used the drug for medicinal purposes. It's been effective in controlling the pain and SX (symptoms) of Crohn’s Disease. In fact I have a close relative that has been totally SX free for 10 years. This person had an extreme case and was taking over 30+ pills a day - and was still very ill and symptomatic.
