Avatar m tn Second, relations with competitive and Machiavellian co-workers was a big source of stress. But we need money to live. My solution was adapting my skills so I could work on my own, independently. It's not easy, and I make less money - in fact, not much at all from my job. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. We spend a huge amount of time at our jobs. So the lesson is get the skills you need to do a less-stressful job that will give you security.

Avatar f tn i try to deal with them the best i can however i have a very hard time when i am in my depressed state and cannot seem to handle the unwanted and disturbing thoughts that i have and was wondering if anyone has this problem and perhaps any coping skills that they found helpful
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm 18 and I've been dealing with depression and anxiety for a while. I'm currently in an outpatient program and have been on a new medication, Wellbutrin, for about a month. On Wellbutrin I've noticed my anger/irritation has greatly increased, but I've experienced some improvements with my energy. I've also started my transition back to school from this program, and I've been really stressed. This last week has been particularly bad.
Avatar f tn Whether I go on meds or not I recognize a huge need to work on improving my stress / coping skills, start excercising and eat better. Am I crazy to even consider not starting meds ASAP ?
1973096 tn?1326086991 If you feel overwhelmed you can always stop going to the anger management group. But, they will teach you coping skills to deal with your anger.
1032898 tn?1258598707 It was a really odd session. I took a computer test. Most of the question were about coping, stress, and emotional health. My results show that I have a lot of depression, but have good coping skills with great emotional support. My understanding from the doc I saw, was I needed his recommendation on should I have the procedure or not. I do also plan to try hypnosis too. My pain is driving me insane. My life is strained due to the pain. The pain is also causing me depression.
Avatar f tn It is fantastic to learn coping skills, anger management skills but bipolar is the type of thing that is an ongoing mental health issue to work on. And by the way, being bipolar is not being crazy. :>) It's like any other disease that needs to be controlled. Let us know how you are doing--- stay in touch. Hang in there.
1222235 tn?1266967901 We r back together together again, he trying to cope with it and me dealing with it having been given some coping skills. HOWEVER, it's not that easy being on the other end of it as it still goes on, although I do get an apology now. I have been weakend oer the years over it, and suffer anxiety, fatigue worse now, because I have my own problems of Fybromyalgia and Chronic fatigue and I am now 68.
Avatar f tn I started counseling and have been re-learning coping skills, stress management, etc. It helps sometimes but other times my anxiety/emotionality(comes 2nd) is horrific & I cannot get a grip on it-even with some Ativan and all of the coping skills I've learned so far. I also have these horrific chills and trembling inside that I've had for years-I call them cold flashes-they happen any time and have woke me up at night.

Avatar f tn As ILAD says I think we have to learn what coping skills work for each of us. Work stress drove me to drinking badly, and made my BP even worse.
Avatar n tn There is a lot of research out there now showing a link between masturbation and shame coping. Like any coping, it's a way to deal with stress, trauma, shame, just like eating a donut or smoking a cigarette. And like those strategies it keeps us from addressing the real issues and has destructive consequences. I recommend learning some healthy coping skills (like talking about your problems, getting validation, etc.) that you can model, and helping him get those same skills.
Avatar f tn I asked him what I was supposed to do and he said that I should start meditating and using guided imagery and now he wants me to see a shrink to learn coping skills. I offered 3 times to go to our local pain management clinic and he kept saying, "no, you are a good patient, I trust you, I have no problem prescribing to you". I don't know if he had just gone to a seminar or read the latest article or what, but it was nuts! Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?
Avatar f tn It is so nice to know that I'm not alone out there. This disease is bad enough without being beaten up by doctors. I suppose I should try and tell myself that the doctors who've been argumentative are just trying to help. But some have gotten downright rude. And the word "coping skills" and other things came up. I think he has a point sadly enough. I am like you too. I question my diagnosis a lot. I had a positive Lyme test and I question its validity.
282760 tn?1213327684 5 prn (but hardly ever have to use the ativan) i also learned coping skills .Can being on this tegretol be causing my panic attacks ? It seems the panic attacks came back about a month ago .I am still on tegretol i dont know for how much longer ..
202665 tn?1248806733 The bad coping mechanisms I learned first were from my family and others who were going thru the same thing as me. I learned the good coping mechanisms from a really great therapist and lots of time. I still regress at times(suicidal ideation) but now have a horse to help me get out and away from people. By the way, I used to keep bees when I lived on a farm. Very calming.
1183666 tn?1274275146 Well I got diagnosed yesterday and I have Anxiety Disorder and OCD { obsessive compulsive disorder } They havent put me on any meds yet, But I found some GREAT coping skills. And I really like them I tried them to day in classes and they really worked.
