Avatar n tn At what point do you get concerned about weight gain? I feel completely ridiculous posting this. I'm 34. I've always been pretty active, not a marathon runner but active. I eat pretty good. We don't have any snack food at home since one of my kiddos eats all, I do have one can of pop a day but otherwise I eat pretty balanced. In Jan and early Feb I weighed 125. i was getting married and watching my weight closer than normal.
Avatar n tn You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn ve been leaning to take time each day relaxing constructively (like yoga and deep breathing) and taking time to destress and block out worrying emotions.
Avatar n tn Medications like OCpills, antidepressants, pain killers, steroids all can lead to weight gain. Lack of sleep will make you gain weight. Lack of sleep makes you physiologically stressed resulting in fat storage. Stress makes a person eat more to compensate and leads to production of hormone cortisol that stores fat. If you follow these measures it will definitely help. If the problem persists seek professional help and get thyroid tersts, kidney tests done. I sincerely hope it helps.

It is clear that your daughter needs to increase the physical activity and the intensity of training. You can follow my program Super Body, Super Brain you can find several youtube videos. If the above causes are eliminated then you can join a weight trainer and a nutrition expert and follow their advice and lose weight under their guidance. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have since gained a good 20 lbs. I could stand to gain the weight so no problem there, it is the distribution of the weight gain that seems odd to me. Most the weight gain has been in my lower abdomen, lower back and buttocks. My buttocks have even developed cellulite which I know is uncommon in men. Do you think I have developed a hormone imbalance since quitting smoking cigarettes?
Avatar f tn I struggle with my weight as it is and i have heard that with a total thyroidectomy and going on synthroid weight gain is an almost certainty. Can anyone shed light on this..I am considering a partial and if its cancer having it done again. Good or bad decision?

With the headaches, would talk to your doctor about head imaging to make sure there is no recurrence or other problems.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that it could be the stress alone that was making me gain weight, because of the constant surges of stress hormones into my body. So here it is 2008, 2 kids later, still at the 70 pounds overweight stage. Nothing I do to lose weight works...I still eat very healthy and although I had stopped exercising with my last pregnancy and hadn't gotten back into it as I should have, I am pretty active and have been making an effort to exercise more.
605458 tn?1539228808 My psychiatrist knows to NEVER prescribe something that is known to cause weight gain. I read that the Lupron Depot can cause weight gain. What about a hysterectomy? Will you gain weight too?
Avatar f tn so can anybody tell me if it is common to gain weight after hysterectomy or is that just depending on the medicine you're given for hormones
Avatar f tn d suggest that if your weight is lower than healthy then weight gain might stable out your emotions. However, I understand if this is not possible as weight gain can be hard for metabolic reasons etc. Again, I think seeing a doctor would be the best opinion, emotions can change for a whole host of reasons they're not always hormone related so it's best to be sure before making any changes. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn I am really confused as to why I gained the weight back yet still have the extremely elevated hormone levels.
Avatar f tn Toni is right - you don't gain weight from the med, you gain weight from your thyroid hormones being too low. Weight gain is a classic symptom of being hypo and many people are lucky enough for the weight to come off, once their thyroid is leveled out again. Some of us have to work hard at getting it off. I'm one of the latter. I find that maintaining portion control has as much to do with losing as what you're eating.
Avatar n tn I recently got my period in October 2016 and I've been 20 days late, is this normal? I am not pregnant, I haven't gain or Loss major weight, and not much stress!
Avatar f tn I became really concerned when last summer I was looking to loose weight for my wedding so I started calorie counting (1500/day) and going to the gym 5 times a week doing 45 mins of cardio and 15 mins of weight training. I continued to gain weight . I have had my thyroid checked and it is normal. I also have slightly high cholesterol and fatty liver which seems highly abnormal to me as I am not a big meat eater or fat eater.
Avatar f tn d had a check up just before and my weight was recorded or the docs would never have believed that amount of weight gain in such a short time was even possible. I went from being extremely fit and active to sleeping 12 - 16 hours a day. I've now been on thyroid hormones for 18 months and not only have I not lost any weight, if I so much as look at a calorie, I put on even more. My weight had been stable for over 10 years.
Avatar f tn I have been reading that taking to much Levoxyl can have an opposite affect if taking to much. It can stress out the adrenals therefore weight gain!! Just wondering if anyone has had this happen after starting Levoxyl?
