Avatar f tn I went to the Dr yesterday. He asked me to do neck stretches every day and to take IBprofen.......he thinks I have pulled muscles. (they took my blood to test for infection) I hope it will go away soon, like I said, the head pain itself is better since I relaxed my jaw. Now I just have to heal my neck/shoulders.
Avatar n tn Regarding that pressure like pain at the back of your head, how is your blood pressure? This can be a manifestation of hypertension. Pain in this area can also be due to stress (work, school, domestic problems, etc). I suggest you continue your accupuncture sessions, have your blood pressure monitored (3-4x weekly) and take a break from stressful activities. I hope you get rid of that annoying pain soon! Regards...
649966 tn?1226660062 ve been experiencing very sharp pin-point pain to the back of my head on the right hand side. Its about level with the top of my ear, in the middle of the right side of my head. I've also been experiencing the same thing in the middle, top of my head. The pain on the right, back is very pin point and sharp, and it happens at least 3-4 times a day. Also, the same with the middle, top pain, however, that pain feels like its burrowing down into my skull.
Avatar f tn Went to chiropractor that morning. Late that day intense pain in back of head when bending forward, coughing, clearing throat. Went online to ask a doctor where I described recent activities but was told it sounded like sinus infection. Next day saw chiropractor again who just gently did range of motion in neck and head and said he had never in 60 years of practice ever seen anything like it.

Avatar f tn Hi There is a condition called tension headache, which is commonly seen in most of the adults, more common in females. These are called stress headaches, muscle contraction headaches, daily headaches, or chronic non-progressive headaches. This type of headache is not an inherited and there is no single cause for it. Tension headaches are usually triggered by some type of environmental or internal stress.
Avatar n tn I've had some pain in the back of my head, and my chirpractor/holistic doctor discovered that my C-1 disk (a.k.a. Atlas) was subluxated. That means the soft tissues of my neck are not holding it exactly in place where it needs to be, due to tight muscles from computing and tension and sleeping wrong. When he adjusts it the pain goes away. It is not likely related to the trigeminal nerve at all. That is the facial nerve that controls your ability to make facial expressions.
Avatar n tn I have this sharp shooting pain in the back of my head its in the lower part of my head and it shoots pain every few seconds up the right side of my head kinda toward my temple. the base of my head is sore to touch. is this somthing i shoul be conserned about. the inly way i can sleep is take tyl. pm. please give me some feed back thank you.
Avatar f tn Is this periodic or constant headache? Tension-type headache is the most common headache and affects up to 75% of headache sufferers. Although it is more common in women, tension-type headache can affect anyone who sustains the same or incorrect body position for lengthy periods, or individuals prone to anxiety or stress. It feels like a tight band pressing around the head. Pain medications as well as proper body posture and less anxiety or stress can help prevent this. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Hi Doc, for the last 2 day's I have been having sharp pains in the back of my head on the right side, also my neck is sore and stiff, would like to know what this may be..
Avatar m tn t the same feeling in the back of my head. It was more of a pressure or almost the feeling of fluid in my head. My doctor did say something about mucus in my nose but I haven't been stuffed up and have no pain when tapping on forehead by sinuses.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for your question. For persistent head and neck pains, possibilities like pinched nerve in cervical spine, migrainous, cluster, tension and refractive errors that need to be evaluated thoroughly with the help of a neurologist here. Migraine like headache can be throbbing, one sided of face & head and preceded by aura (starts with blurred vision). Cluster headache may appear as burning, explosive in nature and tear appears from eyes.
Avatar n tn sometimes when pain is worse, the lower part of head(at base of scull) seems swolen all accross the back of head. The swollen area hurts slightly when pressed on. Has been going on several months.
Avatar f tn He pretty much complains about a headache in the back of his head ever day. He is functioning and working everyday, just complaining :-/ . Before this he has never had headaches. He does intend to see a Doctor as soon as our insurance kicks in later this month. Mean while he is miserable... Any thoughts? Tks!
Avatar n tn I am 43 year old male. For the past 5 days or so, day and night, I have been experiencing a pulsating headache to the left hand side of the back of my head. It's the first time I have had this. What I mean by pulsating is that approximately once every minute I feel a sharp pain for just a fraction of a second. It's as though a needle pricks you in your head and then you feel the pain spreading around that area of the back of my head.
Avatar m tn However, pain in the back portion of the head and ear pain originate from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
Avatar m tn Another possibility is Cervical spondylosis or pinched nerve in cervical spine in which pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head, ears, shoulders, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness).
1090423 tn?1286287650 Hi, How are you? Migraine usually presents with throbbing type of headache while pressure in the head may be associated with another primary headache, tension headache. I agree with selma that you should identify the possible triggers including the activity and food you ate before the headache attacks. Back ache can be due to a variety of issues also such as musculoskeletal conditions that needs to be evaluated further by your doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community. It sounds like a stress headache. Try using an ice pack and take some Excedrin. Also, try to lower your stress level.
Avatar m tn ve also been having an odd sensation in the back of my head. The best way to describe it is a tightness in the back of my head; not painful, just a sensation to make me think about it (which I'm sure makes it worse). I also, as of the past couple of days, have had a much more localized tingling/sharp-pain/itch in the top right portion of the back of my head. The feeling changes throughout the day, but I'm sure it is because of my thinking about it.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. For throbbing & recurring headaches, possibilities like migrainous, cluster, tension and refractive errors that need to be evaluated thoroughly with the help of a neurologist here.
