stress

Avatar f tn I went to the Dr yesterday. He asked me to do neck stretches every day and to take IBprofen.......he thinks I have pulled muscles. (they took my blood to test for infection) I hope it will go away soon, like I said, the head pain itself is better since I relaxed my jaw. Now I just have to heal my neck/shoulders.
Avatar n tn Had therapy and made worse. Neck and back of head now hurts when I turn it right or left or up or down. Back of head hurts at base of scull all the way accross back of head with slightest movement. sometimes when pain is worse, the lower part of head(at base of scull) seems swolen all accross the back of head. The swollen area hurts slightly when pressed on. Has been going on several months.
Avatar m tn At first I just thought they were normal spots/lumps as I get acne/spots on my face and the back of my neck and lower neck area. I only seem to have noticed them this week though, specifically Tuesday as I said. Then today I noticed the discomfort when I pressed down on them and the surrounding area. Does anyone have any idea what these lumps could be? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Hi, in tension headache pain can radiate from the neck, back and eyes. Tension-type headaches account for nearly 90% of all headaches. Epidemological data suggests incidence of 3% for chronic-tension type headache. "Pain is often described as a constant pressure, as if the head were being squeezed in a vise. The pain is frequently bilateral which means it is present on both sides of the head at once. Tension-type headache pain is typically mild to moderate".
Avatar f tn Episodic tension headaches are usually triggered by an isolated stress or a build-up of stress. A tension headache may occur on an episodic basis (less than 15 days per month) or on a chronic basis (daily or more than 15 days per month). In mild to moderate tension headaches, there is a constant, band-like pain or pressure that lasts from 30 minutes to all day. Tension headaches usually begin gradually and often occur in the middle of the day.
Avatar n tn Hers is usually on the right side of the back of her neck, close to her hairline at the base of her skull. On each side of the back of your neck there is a tendon, thats where hers would appear. When our family doctor first looked at it, he said he could drain it in a minor surgery. She was 14 yrs. old then and what he said freaked her out. So we got a second opinion from another doctor who sent her to a Physical Therapist.
Avatar f tn I then went to doc who said probably comes from stress and tension and scheduled CT scan 4 days from now. I am using heat on back of neck and head every couple of hours and taking Ibuprofin every 4 hr (which I'm not supposed to because I take a beta blocker. Very frustrated at amount of time to get a scan because of pending insurance approval. Constant dull pain all over head along with those agonizing bursts of pain with certain movements. I need relief!

Avatar f tn I get strong headaches in the back of my skull, just above the base of my skull. The only time I get these headaches is after short bursts of intense physical activity. The headaches are powerful enough that I must stop whatever I am doing and wait for the headache to pass- which takes about 5 minutes or so. Does anyone know if this could be an exertion headache or something else?
Avatar m tn Pain at the back of head or neck that may intensify with movement is caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help. Tumor headache is unlikely because it usually presents with pain that progressively worsens, vomiting, possible visual disturbances speech or personality changes; problems with equilibrium, gait, or coordination and even seizures.

Avatar f tn Hi, Pain at the back of the head may be caused by tension of the neck muscles due to stress, eye problems, migraines, or a pathology in the brain. Please go for MRI of the brain and consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment. Please ask your mother to keep herself free from stress, take adequate rest and go for regular gentle exercises. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn However, pain in the back portion of the head and ear pain originate from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
Avatar f tn s also pain), and my symptoms other than severe pounding and sharp pain al over my head are watery eyes, neck (back of the neck) pain, feeling weak and nauseous and i noticed that i kept on yawning. i have consulted an opthalmologist for my eyes. but the doctor said that i just have excessing dryness of the eyes and i forgot the exact term she used for the allergy of the eye (conju... something).
Avatar f tn He pretty much complains about a headache in the back of his head ever day. He is functioning and working everyday, just complaining :-/ . Before this he has never had headaches. He does intend to see a Doctor as soon as our insurance kicks in later this month. Mean while he is miserable... Any thoughts? Tks!
Avatar f tn You may have what the health professionals call "cervicogenic headache". That is headache with a neck origin. Usually the pain starts from the neck joint at the base of the skull and radiate up to the base of the skull, top part of your scalp and perhaps behind the ear and back of eye. Usually it is one sided, unless you have neck problems on both sides.
Avatar m tn I've been having this bad headache on the back of my head. this is not my first time. Last time i often have it slightly below back of the head. But now, while working I'm having a bad headache at the back of my head and I feel like voimiting sometimes. I ate paracetamol earlier this morning but didn't work What is this headache and what should i do ?
Avatar n tn I did go to a doctor he said it was due to stress and the nerves in the back of my head were inflamed by the tension in the neck muscles causing the insane headaches and sensations of the pain shooting up the back of my head. He advised the ice packs as you did. Ice made it much worse. I found standing under a hot shower whenever the pain got to a certain threshold and letting the hot water flow down the back of my head and neck for a while did the trick.
Avatar n tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities. Occipital neuralgia is caused by irritation or injury to two nerves that run from the upper neck to the back of the head.
Avatar n tn The only way to stop the pain is to take ibruprofen, and sometimes I have to ice the back of my head for 30 minutes or more. I have noticed that I get a mild headache when I exercise, which makes me concerned. I recently graduated, and no longer have insurance. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Occipital neuralgia can result from physical stress, trauma, or repeated contraction of the muscles of the neck. Treatment involves pain killers, drugs like gabapentin, amitryptline etc are also helpful http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/536/main.html http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn For about 4 months I have been getting a dull pain on the left back side of my head. It is always in the same spot and lasts a few seconds. Sometimes it starts tingling if I am actually laying on that spot. I also recently developed neck and shoulder pain on the left side as well. Sometimes I get a tingling sensation in my arm. I have a little bit of sensitivity to light, but no vision changes. Any help would greatly be appreciated!
569892 tn?1353896337 This could be a tension headache due to stress. You also complain of pain in the neck. It is quite possible that the cause of pain could be cervical spondilitis or disc protrusion. I would suggest you to continue with the neck massages and exercises. Please take a second opinion with another neurologist.Take care!
