Strep throat and z pack

Common Questions and Answers about Strep throat and z pack

throat

If you do get it, I know that a Z-pack is perfectly safe in pregnancy. (I've had pink eye and bronchitis so far this pregnancy so I've had my fill of Z-packs!) Also, my baby cousin went to a sitter where all the kids got strep and they took her to the doctor just to make sure she was ok. That doctor told my Aunt that kids can't generally get strep under the age of 2. It comes out in the from of a cold. I know doctors have differing opinions, but that is what she was told!
I also noticed some whiteness towards the back of my throat. They tested me for strep and results came back negative so I was prescribed a 5-day Z-Pack and sent on my way. Now that I have done some research, I am afraid that I might have Gonorrhea. I had unprotected oral sex a week ago and unprotected oral and vaginal sex a week before that with a different person. I have not felt any noticeable vaginal discomfort, but my throat looks similar to pictures of Gonorrhea I have found online.
I guess I waited too late to go to the ER because by the time I went they said everything was fine. They gave me a z-pack and I felt better for about a week. Then I started to belch acid really bad and my throat felt raw. I assumed it was acid reflux. Well then it became very inflammed, blood vessels showing and I had white spots on a red base that would come off when I ate.
It is possible to have a throat infection that is not strep. A Z pack usually will clear up your discomfort ini 24-48 hours. It is likely that you need a different antibiotic. If you think there is a possibility that you might be pregnant, make sure you mention that to the doctor. There are certain antibiotics that you can't take during pregnancy. I hope you are feeling better soon!
I had a severe asthma attack for two weeks and was put on a z pack, Prednizone and then levaquin. 4 days off levaquin I get strep throat. Now I am on 900 mg a day of clindamyacin. I have had an anxiety attack and depression while on all these meds. So the dr also put me on Paxil, Effexor and and lorazepam. I think I am over medicated but my strep isn't healing as quickly as I think it should. I would like to have some feedback. Thanks!
I felt as though my whole tongue was burning and it looked unusually white. And then my throat started hurting and feels clogged with mucus. I went to the ER but the doctor couldn't figure it out and didn't think it was oral thrush even though I could scrape the white stuff off. He gave me a benydrill and told me to stop taking clindamycin and took me off antibiotics then sent me on my way.
When to my general practitioner who put me on 5 days z pack antibiotics (did not do a culture). Finished z pack Saturday. Still have white stuff in the back of my throat and feeling sore again. Am a little worried about having to do too many antibiotics on tx. Am worried maybe they are not as effective on tx. Will try calling my gp and my hep doc tomorrow now that the holidays are over. Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues or knowledge that could help.
I've googled around and some hits suggest that this is a byproduct and/or toxin from the strep bacteria but I can't find any articles directly addressing these tingly bumps of clear fluid. Why would strep bacterium waste products manifest only in my hands and feet? I also seem to have some Impetigo starting around my mouth, nose and ears. Any suggestions would be appreciated. How exactly is this all related?
By the 5-6th day I took a strep test and got the results about 2 days later.. Came out positive for Strep Group C. I've been taking z-pack that I had extra for the past 5 days. I am positive for hsv-1 which I believe I've had since I was young BUT I am worried that I may have contracted HSV-2 or some other STD orally. My throat is feeling better but still hurts a little and it has been over a week.
Group F strep is one of the streptococcus species that is part of the Streptococcus anginosus group (formally called Streptococcus milleri).  It is found as part of the Normal bacterial flora in the oral cavity, GI tract and genitourinary tract. It can be the cause of serious deep tissue abscesses in places like the brain or liver but is generally considered to be normal in moderate amounts in the throat or mouth.
I also had pain in my abdomen. I went to the er three days later and got a rapid test done and it was positive for strep throat. I was put on z pack for 6 days. The initial symptoms of chills and mild fever and green stool went away within two days. But I still continued to feel ill like fatigued. And my swollen node was still swollen. I went back to the er after finishing the zpack and they put me on 600 mg a day of clyndamycin. I felt really good the first day on it like i was better.
Z-pack for Strep Throat? Hmmmm. I think he/she should have probably went in the direction of a broad-spectrum antibiotic, i.e. Amoxicillin vs. Zithromax. I have seen Zithromax ordered for Strep Throat, but not that often.
He gave me steriod shotput me on 5 day z-pack,gave me ear drops, cough syrup to help with the pain and presure (hydrocodone, with antihistimine, decongestant)and confirmed, I did have upper respitory & severe ostis media. By Saturday the pain was unbearable, but I dealt with it the best I could.
Sinus pressure, very swollen throat, feeling that the roof of my mouth is swollen, sinus congestion, chills, dizziness. *told I look fine, seems like my tonsils are healing. Given steroids to reduce massive swelling in my throat. Late-December: All of the above plus More massive pressure in my head. *told I seem fine but my doctor has also been struggling to beat similar symptoms and she suggests taking levaquin.
One week later I woke up with a sore thoat and a headache. I went to the doctor and she gave me a shot of Rocefin and a Z-pack, but did not swab for strep. The next day I got a fever of 101.6 and it has persisted for 3 days only going down for short periods of time with extra strength tylenol. I went back to the doctor. They swabbed my throat and drew blood. I am negative for mononucleosis, the flu, and strep. My CBC was normal. He gave me Levaquin.
Since then, I have been on three different rounds of antibiotics (Z-pack, Augmentin, and Avelox). On my last visit about a week and a half ag, I got the all clear after a throat culture had been done. Overall, I feel fine with no major throat pain other than scratchiness (which I suspect is from allergies). I'm concerned, however, that my right lymph node is showing no sign of going down. Additionally, the right side of my neck is slightly tender and swollen.
Just a sore throat with white spots. Could it be something else other than strep? And if it is strep throat, can it go untreated? If so, will it harm my baby or me? I've heard about cases where people don't even know they have strep because they don't show any symptoms for it. I used to get it 5 times a year and it would hit me first with an extremely high fever but not this time.

Also went to the docters and he gave me z-pack finished the antibotics did nothing for my throat. The doc gave me a throat swab for strep came back negitive. My throat is still filled with puss and my gland on my right side is a bit swollin I have had some stomach pain and have felt run down (this could be caused by stress?) I have bin very stressed out this past month.
I was tested for strep after initial infection and it was negative and then I had a throat culture taken after a follow-up (after the coarse of the z-pack) and they came back clean too. I had a blood test taken for mono and that was negative too. I had an HIV oral test at four weeks and it was negative but this sore throat won't quit. My left tonsil is slightly more swollen and I have slightly lymph node on that side. The throat is worse in the mornings.
I couldn't swallow, eat, was running a 103* fever at its worst, was weak to my knees, and had white spots in the back of my throat. This was confirmed to be strep by a rapid test which was + for strep bacteria. I was given a Z pak, but when I was feeling worse a day after starting the regimen, I returned to the Dr. and was given an antibiotic injection and put on a steroid pack. 6 days after exposure to strep bacteria, and 3 days after becoming sick, I was fine again.
I went to the doctors last week and they tested for strep but it came back negative. They gave me a z-pack anyway. After completing it on Sunday it is now Saturday (week later) and I still have a sore throat. I also have the tonsil stones. I am getting worried it is something more. I don't have a history of throat problems but up until this year I have gotten a sore throat three times already. I am wondering if there is a steroid out there or something.
a few days ago and he said he didn't see anything wrong except for a red throat and that it was probably strep and gave a Z-pack. But the Z-pack hasn't helped at all and in fact, my throat got worse the past two days.
This time it didn't go away and so I saw my ob/gyn. She took a culture and found strep B, which has nothing to do with Strep A that creates strep throat. She said she could give me antibiotics to make it go away but then I would get a yeast infeciton from the antibiotics and then we'd have to use another cream etc. She said just to let it ride it's course. Now it's been three and ahalf weeks and it's better but not all healed.
Went to Doctor was told bronchitis, well i had it many times in my life and was never like this, never had such green mucus in the large amounts or throat and ear pain, given z pack, back to doctor again after 3 more weeks given flonase and steroid. Don't know if flonase or steroid helped but feeling some better, just hoping there is no relapse..
I went ot the Dr about 3 weeks ago due to a severe sore throat and low grade fever, he did a step test and it came back negative but due to the redness and the tenderness/swollen glands he gave me a Z-Pack of Antibiotics. Within 24 hrs the sore throat weakened and I was feeling much better. Then, the following day it came back and it has been back everyday since then for the last 3 weeks.
When I swallow, it hurts in the throat, above and to the left and right of my adams apple, and sometime to my ears. No cold symptoms or stuffy nose, etc. Went back to doc, he gave me pack but urged me not to take it because i just cam off meds. he said no swollen glands in neck but red throat. 1. Does this sound like ars (bad sore throat for 5 days, fever, but no other symptoms? 2. My normal temp is about 97; therefore, is 98-99 a potential ars fever in my case? 3.
I was prescribed a Z-pack and I felt loads better. For about a week and a half now my throat has been scratchy. Two days ago my throat felt like I had something stuck to it and sore. When I got home my throat was very red and had about 6 white dots on it with red spots up into the posterior roof of my mouth. There are no puss spots on my tonsils, just around them. My throat isnt incredibly sore and the lymphnodes in my neck are just slightly swollen.
My doctor did a rapid strep test and it came back negative. I went on a z-pack and it lessened the severity of the sore throat, but it didn't completely go away. I'm worried that it might be throat herpes! I've been tested back in January for Herpes 1&2 and both came back non-existent negative. I'm worried that I could have contracted it from some unknown source (I've read that's how most people get HSV-1).
