Avatar f tn Getting your son in to see a pediatric gastroenterologist is the best thing you can do for him . I don't feel he should be on Reglan (nasty medication) with bad side affects and should ONLY be prescribed to ADULTS. This and Prilosec are both used to treat GERD (acid reflux) which he doesn't appear to have, and why he would be on both I don't know! Probiotics help with digestion, and in moving the food along the intestine and colon, which doesn't appear to be happening.
1110718 tn?1258435594 My 6 year old daughter is on Abilify 10 mg right now for what they are calling a mood disorder for now. She is happy, nice, caring, and just great and then can just turn in a second to a very angry upset and self harming child sometimes. She also was put on Concerta 36mg and her rages got even worse to where she once almost jumped out of the car when driving down the freeway. Very scary.
Avatar f tn My son is 18, single and lives in a small town in Utah, far away from his parents. He has been vomiting for a week, has a persistant headache, has a sore throat with puss pockets on his tonsils. Last week he went to an urgent-care center because he does not have a regular doctor in the area he is in yet. They said he had an ear infection, gave him antibiotics and sent him home. His symptoms have continued, so he went to the ER yesterday.
Avatar n tn Is It possible to have a few symptoms of strep throat and still mean that you have full-blown strep throat? From my personal diagnosis, I believe that I have a mild case of strep throat. I had a sore throat for a few days but it seems to have died down now. Throat is still red at the moment. There's phlegm and I have difficulty swallowing (feels as though there's a lump at the back of the throat) Lymph nodes seem to be a little sore but not swollen.
Avatar f tn but i have also been vomiting on and off for the last week (frequently for 2 days, then no vomiting for 2 days, and then once today) and am constantly nauseated. but i have no fever. what might this be?
Avatar f tn m not sure where the reaction was coming from because it was Sunday nd the doctors and immedicenter are inconveniently closed on Sundays and that same night I could keep a drop of water in my mouth and was vomiting practically air and the next daymy neck is pretty much swollen and this is where I'm somewhat over reacting is my neck like that from the straining of vomiting or should I have something to worry about ...
Avatar f tn What you are describing sounds more like strep throat. Do you have a fever? Strep throat can be quite painful when swallowing and cause a general feeling of malaise, with whitish "dots" appearing in the back of your throat. If left untreated, strep throat can lead to other more serious complications. You should seek medical attention.
Avatar f tn Our pediatriacian thought maybe the joint pain may have been caused by strep throat. So we had a strep culture, and there were still antibodies in his throat (Assuming because he had strep throat weeks before that was undetected). The culture was positive, however our son had only had 1 day of sore throat with a short fever 4 weeks prior to this throat culture. The doctor then wanted our 3 yr old to give blood to look or Rheumatoid factor and Titre tests, so we did that today.
503418 tn?1231098736 One of my children never got a fever with strep. Would just feel tired and throat hurt. When you looked at throat you could see white blotches and then we knew for sure.
Avatar n tn Fisrt day was fever and sweating with acheing joints and some vomiting. Days 2-10 swollen tonsils with white patches (extremely painful). Now my uvula is swollen and sitting on my tounge. Ok so heres what I have been using to combat this. Gargle with salt water, Drink warm water with honey and lemon, Tylenol for pain (actually works for once), had some fluticasone propionate for nasal congestion (stopped working so switched to afrin) and zinc cough drops.
Avatar n tn A week after the fatigue I developed a terrible neck stiffness and pain along with a sore throat. No fever. No rash. No ulcers that I could see. No vomiting or diarrhea. I am just now starting to feel better. The neck pain, sore throat, and fatigue were the worse. Tested for mono and strep both negative. I will test at 6 weeks and 12 but for now does that seem like ARS?
Avatar f tn maybe puree his food if its hard for him to eat ,the fever should go down soon.,if he is still vomiting in 24 hours I think you should take him back to see the doctor ,Good luck hope hes better soon .
Avatar n tn ve had a chance to check and in fact it is not uncommon for two year olds to have strep throat. Google two year old with strep throat and much data pops up that it happens and not uncommonly. Since it is contagious, you often see it in daycare facilities. I mentioned it initially only because my boys had some very odd symptoms when they've had strep throat and it didn't look like obvious strep throat. They almost always gag, throw up. They get head aches.
Avatar n tn No they do not treat the partner for strep b. Usually it's a pretty self limiting infection in the vagina but sometimes it can cause painful symptoms as you've seemed to have had. It's really only an issue for pregnancy though of course staying comfortable is also very important!
Avatar m tn Hot air come from nose and irritation in throat but had no fever or anyother else.. i had disturb in my sleep and feel tiredness.. Please give any advice for this or can i consult any doctor.. please give answer me sir....
Avatar f tn My son is four and has had strep 5 times since September(in addition to ear infections and pinkeye) and has alternated medicine each time to avoid building up a resistance. He recently had strep and finished his antibiotic. Within the week he was back on an antibiotic and this week he still has a fever, achy bones, lethargic, stomach pain, swollen glands, and white spots in his throat. The chest x-ray and mono came back negative.
Avatar n tn You need a mono test, and a strep test due to the rash and sore throat, also a throat culture to test for different bacterias (Strep A and Strep B). The rapid strep tests they do in the clinic only test for one type of strep. Also, even though rare anymore, you should ask them about possible scarlet fever. You need a new CBC done, it is possible that the WBC has went up since the last test. And also have an epstein barr virus test just in case the rapid mono spot test comes back negative.
Avatar m tn The most common symptom of strep throat includes a sore, burning throat that may be red in color and covered with white patches. Other symptoms of strep throat include fever, headache, stomachache, nausea, chills, discomfort, loss of appetite, swollen lymph nodes and difficulty swallowing. Because strep throat is a bacterial infection, antibiotics are successful in treating it.
Avatar f tn I really need to know the answer to this question, and everyone I talk to at her pediatrician's offices starts acting funny when I ask questions like they don't want to tell me something. She's had this yellow nasty discharge leaking out of her since Jan 9th 2011 when her dad brought her home red and very swollen in her private areas. It's 2/28/11 now and Nobody has acted like it was anything to be concerned about.
Avatar f tn Firstly, has he been cultured for strep throat and/or had a rapid strep test done? Secondly, steroids are good for getting inflammation down but they cause you get very immunocompromised. Are these oral steroids and were they actually perscribed by a doctor. I would stop the steroids. He could also have a resistant strain of Strep. so they may need to do a antibiotic sensitivity panel if the culutre is still positive. Lastly, it may virus that he got after the initial infection.
1873691 tn?1320350220 Just a sore throat with white spots. Could it be something else other than strep? And if it is strep throat, can it go untreated? If so, will it harm my baby or me? I've heard about cases where people don't even know they have strep because they don't show any symptoms for it. I used to get it 5 times a year and it would hit me first with an extremely high fever but not this time.
Avatar f tn I took her to the doctor yesterday because she has strep throat, and I asked for her to have blood work done which showed, low white blood cells, anemia and elevated monocytes. Her platelets had dropped but were still within normal range. We are going back for a repeat, but I am incredibly concerned. She has had nonspecific, asymptomatic fevers. She has been sick about 4-5 times since September (this is not including the headache mentioned or the strep throat).
Avatar n tn Strep throat is very common (especially in children and young adults) and very treatable, but can lead to serious complications if not treated. So please get your parents or a trusted adult to take you to the doctor and get checked. In the meantime, try gargling with warm salt water - it sometimes eases the throat pain. Just try not to swallow the salt water becuase it can make you nauseas.
Avatar n tn Okay - I've seen this question asked a million places and a million different ways but none of the answers were the same and none of the questions were very much like my situation so I figured I'd give it a try (sorry if you've seen this a ton of times before!). My boyfriend is in the military and the last two times I've gone to visit him on base I have performed unprotected oral sex and gotten strep throat.
Avatar f tn haha u cant get sore throat from OJ. could be strep throat, see your doctor to be sure.
Avatar n tn fever from 100-103, croupy cough and sore throat. We took them to their ped thinking possible strep. Then came the swine flu worry. Strep test, flu test and chest xrays all clear. Ped says just a bug but I'm starting to worry. Any idea how to help? Oh and if it helps they are homeschooled.
Avatar f tn Earlier this week I had the flu and thought I was developing strep throat. Went to the doctors and did a test and it was negative and they told me it was a 'viral strep.' The doctor also listened to my lungs and said they sounded great. So I suffered a few more days and finally broke my fever. But since then I developed quite a nasty cough that is making me puke. Water doesn't help and cough drops don't help either.
