Doctor thinks she has strep so he took a strep test. Doctor said strep was highly contagious and asked if our 3 kids and myself got it. But nope only my wife.
Questions:
1. After readying the above what do you think my risks are for STD's?
2. If my wife does have strep throat is it possible that me and our 3 kids will not catch strep? We shared drinks on Saturday night,wife already starting having sore throat. Doc told her its highly contagious.

Most sore throats are caused by viruses so he may not get exposed to this same strep throat if the kids have a sore throat at school. Strep throat is contagious and so he and the other kids should not share utinsils, and you should throw away his tooth brush after the antibiotics are finished as he can reinfect himself. I mentioned it initially only because my boys had some very odd symptoms when they've had strep throat and it didn't look like obvious strep throat. They almost always gag, throw up. They get head aches.
Its a dry cough but yesterday I noticed my throat started hurting and when I looked in my throat there were white spots on my tonsils. I instantly started assuming I am getting strep. My boyfriend is in the military and the last two times I've gone to visit him on base I have performed unprotected oral sex and gotten strep throat.
My brother tested positive for strep throat today and I've been around him..they're supposed yo induce on Monday. If I am to come down with strep will they still induce? Hi everyone, recently I went to the doctor with a nasty sore throat that had started to get swollen and accumulate white spots. He tested me for strep and found that it was not that, and my lymph nodes are not swollen for it to be mono. He said it was a viral infection that should last about three to four days. Anyway, the next day, I performed oral sex on my boyfriend. The day after that, I realized the infection had gotten even worse (at least to me). Could this have exacerbated the problem?
Also of people get fever and feel really sick with a strep inection but sometimes all you have is a chronic sore throat. If you let a strep infection go for a long time without treatment it can make you seriously ill and could even kill you.That is rare but it does happen. Go to the doc. A simple exam and maybe a throat swab should reveal the cause of your sore throat. Good luck, hope you feel better.

Due to the suddenness of appearance of rash along with no prior history of any rash,it can be due to a viral infection or an allergic reaction.Scarlet fever(strep infection with a rash) and other viral infections and allergic reaction due to contact dermatitis have to be ruled out.Apply calamine lotion on the rash and consult a pediatrician soon.Treatment for all is different and before prescribing any medicine in children ,it is important to confirm a diagnosis first.

What you are describing sounds more like strep throat. Do you have a fever? Strep throat can be quite painful when swallowing and cause a general feeling of malaise, with whitish "dots" appearing in the back of your throat. If left untreated, strep throat can lead to other more serious complications. You should seek medical attention.
I guess what I found so odd was that the zpack worked on my glands and throat issues within 24 hours , but my strep rapid and culture were negative. Could it be possible it was like a sinus infection that was bacterial? I just want to put this worry to rest and since I took the antibiotic I have no way of knowing if it was an std. Thanks so much, this will be my final post...just wondered your thoughts on the liklihood of this.
I've had strep throat like symptoms, but it's not strep throat. I've had 4 different doctors do 4 different swabs, one of which when to the CDC, they all came back clean. I've been to an ear nose and throat doctor who scoped me and saw nothing. An allergist who prescribed me antiviral meds (Valacyclovir Hydrochloride 1000mg), steroids to help with swelling and other medications to previously try. Needless to say, they haven't worked.
