Common Questions and Answers about Strep infection lungs

infection

If so what are the kinds to look out for? Cuts and scrapes or lungs or fungal. Are there warning signs that I should know about, or just common sense. If I did start having alot of pain or even congestion I'd probably think it was a SX. Will the bloodwork reveal an infection?
It doesn't seem to be kicking the infection. I'm still coughing and sneezing, and now wheezing. I have a lot of build up in my chest and wonder, given the limited drugs I'm allowed, what is the next step? Can I develop a bronchial infection or pneumonia?
This is called a vasculitis. The characteristic vasculitis of Strep infection is scarlet fever or scarletina. A somewhat unusual or unexpected strep infection is perianal disease. This presents as an intensely red rash around the anus, which is usually mistaken for a yeast infection (Candida). However, antifungal medications such as nystatin cream are useless. The rash disappears promptly with oral penicillin or erythromycin treatment.
Newborns and Group B Strep How common is group B strep disease in newborns? Group B strep is the most common cause of sepsis (blood infection) and meningitis (infection of the fluid and lining around the brain) in newborns. Group B strep is a frequent cause of newborn pneumonia and is more common than other, more well-known, newborn problems such as rubella, congenital syphilis, and spina bifida. In the year 2001, there were about 1,700 babies in the U.S.
Sadly my baby died even before I went into labour because the step b had gt into babies lungs and stomach. So yes Strep B can harm the baby b4 going into labour, however this may just have happened to me because my membranes ruptured. Midwife sadly failed to return my phone calls even though she knew I was leaking and has the show for a whole week.
I would go as sok as labor starts I also have group b strep and my Dr isn't concerned unless I don't get antibitocs. Women r all carriers of group b strep its in our bodies just during pregnancy it comes out in certain women. I didn't have it with my first son but I have it now with my second.
that infection, I had many many minor infections and cough. I also have asthma now and my lungs are basically shot. I cough pretty constantly and there are times when I go into my coughing attacks (although nowhere near as bad as when I had the group F) to the point of gagging. As you have probably found, there is really nothing online about group F. If you have any more questions let me know, I might be able to help considering I went through it and spent nights awake from coughing.
He had a three hour delivery and they are saying that is why their is fluid in the lungs. He has an infection but they do not know what it is yet. Would or could he have gotten an infectiion from the mother? or more likely the health providers.
Hi, I too am suffering from a vaginal strep infection. I got it when I started having sex with a new partner. I have tried two rounds of antibiotics. The first round took it away and then it came back in a couple of months again. I have a lot of irritation and redness. I am taking a probiotic and Colloidal Silver to see if it will help. Both of these items can be purchased through a health food store. I've been taking it now for about two weeks.
In mothers, GBS causes urinary tract infections, infection of the placenta and membranes during labor, infection of the uterus after delivery and infection of the blood known as bacteremia. Group B strep infections can be very successfully treated with antibiotics, especially penicillin or ampicillin. Prevention of the infection is preferable however, and several strategies have been developed in an attempt to eradicate colonization and infection.
They just called me last Sat! and said the culture came back positive for strep. I had a BAD case of strep a couple of years ago, this does round does not feel anything like that, and I have no fever, just feel like poopoo! They started me on Keflex 500mg 2x's a day on Sat. (10 day supply). Yesterday took myself to my internist (reg doc) because my lungs are burning and I cough and cough and sound like I am full of fluid.
which is some extra sensative skin sensation in my arms. I would get this in my younger days before the hard symptoms of flu or strep throat. Sometimes I would get this and nothing would happen, so I wasnt too worried. Day one: when I woke up my throat felt on fire, it burned/hurt to swallow. My mouth was excessively coated with crud when I woke (way more than usual, as I am a mouth breather). My lymph nodes in my neck were moderately swollen and painful.
I finally went to the doctor about that too and they told me I have asthma also. I frequently will get ear infections and infection in my lungs (i don't know if it's from the drip). Last time I went to the Dr. for the ear infection I was given a pill you take like 7 days and go lower and lower every day. As far is my sinus, I have tried probably EVERY antibiotic. It's probably not healthy. I also had tonsilitis and strep (also those nasty white things in my throat) so I had a tonsillectomy.
His throat was still hurting and he said he could see pus, so I told him he should get tested for strep. He did, but, the results were worse than strep - his throat is infected with MRSA. He's had other symptoms as well; pain in one lung, and in his chest, shortness of breath, and headaches. For a while he was having pain in his stomach and vomiting. He'd had a chest x-ray a couple weeks ago for his lung, the doctor thought it looked ok. The doctor he just went to was an endocrinologist.
The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
My throat is sore, and I have been treated for mono and strep throat prior. This however feels different, it is so sharp and constant, and I feel a shortness in breath throughout the day and night.
what could be a reoccing fever in a 9 yr old' with really no other symtoms, that has this for over 2wks. has been tested for strep- negative, had urine checked as well as ears & lungs-negative, has been on a anti- botic for 8 days?
More worrisome is that it could be a 'strep throat' or, as you suggest, also involve your lungs. Still sick after ten days, you should be examined, have a strep throat culture and, with the feelings of chest heaviness and congestion, a chest X-ray. You may need antibiotic therapy for upper respiratory infection, lower respiratory infection or both.
I know a lady that passed away from strep about 20 years ago and I know a person that passed away from sinus infection a few years ago. Also, with the bad cough, you could have bronchitis. See your doctor soon.
The right side of my throat is red, swollen and hurts when I swallow. My lungs feel like they are trying to get ready to cough but don't. I sneeze and have a runny nose. Can I tell you how bad it hurts to sneeze OMGosh. My whole body feels like one big bruise it hurts everywhere I turn. Is this a normal cold or am I getting the flu? It's been a while since I have been sick. Symptoms started yesterday and are getting more intense.
Husband has gastric bypass Oct 6, 06. In March 07, 10 weeks ago children had strep throat, 9 weeks ago I had sinus infection & strep throat, 8 weeks ago husband started with cold symptoms and got worse. Went to doctor after 2 weeks was diagnosed with bronchitus and put on amoxacillan for 10 days. Was told lungs sounded fine. After taking meds for 5 days started to feel better, then got worse. Coughed constantly, bringing up phlem all the time.
lungs were clear. Tested for strep- came back negative. She was given an antibiotic for the sinus infection and had to take motrin/tylenol due to her fever of 101 that lasted for 3-4 days. I thought possibley the leg issue was due to growing pains, but everything I have researched says growing pains are not in the thigh area. I have had her in the dr. 3 times in the last month for the other issues, and am beginning to feel like an over anxious mother taking her again for the leg pain.
There is so much going around at bthe moment colds coughs chicken pox,you sound like you have had the flu and a virul infection maybe a throat infection which causes high fever, take paracetamol for temp and drink plenty of fluids
103 temperature is not good, it sounds like she has an infection called cellulitis, it's a strep or staph infection where the skin is red and hot. The fluid build up could be lymphedema, that is a problem with breast cancer survivors, if she does she needs treatment. First off you have to get into a dr and get treated for the infection. Go to the ER if need be. What about an oncologist or gynecologist or surgeon.
No cough, just a slightly constricting and burning feeling in my upper throat, lower nasal passages, and upper lungs. And absolutely no mucous or sneezing. My doctor tested for strep and fever - neither of these. So, he assumed a bacterial infection, and I went two rounds with two different types of antibiotics, but no change. Could this be allergies (never had any previously - I am 44)? Thrush? Something else? I have never had any problems of this type previously. Thanks!
D last night to find my white blood count high. (TMI) My nose produces so much gunk and my throat is killing me. I was told I had strep throat but now they say I have just an infection some where. I am laying in bed and can't get up I feel so terrible...thank goodness for laptops! Has anyone else had alot of colds and been extra sick lately?
The doctor knows antibiotics won't help a viral infection but will write it out of habit or to keep the patient happy; many patients expect to walk out with a prescription. The doctor would of been better off prescribing vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) supplements. I buy vitamin D3 supplements from my local supermarket. I am trying to get my vitamin D levels up to optimal: 125 - 200 nmol/L (50 - 80 ng/mL).
Sounds like you have recurrent ear and throat infection and may have a strep throat. This can happen when infection is not totally eradicated by the first course of antibiotics. You should have a throat culture for strep. You may need another course of antibiotics for no less than 10 to 14 days. Untreated infection can often be accompanied by fever and severe fatigue. You should know that you may be contagious and a threat to those in close contact with you.
But my son had a heartbeat when I went into the er it was 160 bpm. It's group b strep it's and infection that is bacteria that lives in your vir-jj your lower intestines & rectom.
