Strep infection diaper rash

Common Questions and Answers about Strep infection diaper rash

infection

It was very angry looking, bright red and a little bubbled. I suspected staph or strep since I had seen that type rash on my youngest child's bottom when he was still in diapers, and it had the blister-looking bubbles. I went to my nurse practioner and she prescribed bactroban and also swabbed it. The bactroban was effective and the rash cleared by at least 50% within two to three days. Then my nurse practioner called and said the culture showed e. coli. She then prescribed cipro.
This sounds like the yeast infections my boys got in the diaper area after intestinal infections or a round of antibiotics. We just treated them with monostat from the women's health section of the grocery store. Best wishes - this is no fun!
We immediately took her to the ER, where the PA ordered tests for RSV, Strep, Influenza A and B, and an X-ray to check for pneumonia. She asked about the rash, and when I told her we had seen a doctor who had said it was viral, she immediately agreed and left the room. All of my daughter's tests came back negative, but we were told that she had some inflammation in her left ear and were sent home to follow up with the pediatrician on March 29.
my 2 wk old son has such bad diaper rash, he has had it abotu a week and half, i have been using everything, desitin, butt paste, etc. it is so bad that now it looks like he has bumps or blisters up around the base of his penis, and like the skin is peeling on his bum and around his scrotum!!is this normal sounding for diaper rash in boys? any advise? dr. says try antifungal creams or powder. i've been told to stay away from OJ and tomato sauces bcuz of acid, any other suggestions?
I considered similar to his little sister's (18 months) diaper rash. At the time he was going through a severe fever. We just assumed it was a fever rash. As he had a terrible white coat on his tongue as well as blistering on his tongue. It took about two days of on again-off again fever before he was through it. But, six days later he still has the pimples on his butt, and chapped rectum.
A garden variety yeast infection or diaper rash is far more likely. That said, no online provider can make a definite diagnosis. If you remain uncertain, you need to take her to her pediatrician. Since it's apparently a fairly severe rash, that might be a good idea. You are the best judge of whether this oral herpes outbreaks is a recurrence of your old infection or a new due to HSV-2.
About 3 weeks ago, my 5 month old developed red bumps in somewhat of a circle on the left side of his torse near the diaper line, and this started to stretch back in a line. A week later, he also had them on the right side of his torso, up higher on his side. This past weekend, they spread all over his back. I took him to the doctor on Monday and she said it was eczema and to change his soap and use a lot of lotion.
He is rarely in a diaper anymore(doc thought just diaper rash last time). I can not figure this out, PLEASE HELP. I have pictures of most described. Oh he also has scabs on scalp(yellow colored) and last week he woke up with a blister on his ear (clear fluid filled) waiting on culture to come back for that. THANK YOU any ideas would really help.
I am unable to make another appointment until tomorrow but when i went to the bathroom i noticed a red line that started at my lower back and coninued along my "butt crack." It kind of looks like a diaper rash and that may be why it has been so painful to sit. Is this another sign of herpes?? I didn't notice any blisters just looked like a rash. Thoughts??????

I am dealing with the same exact issue right now with my nine month old. He was taking amoxicillin for an ear infection and he had the same reaction. His rash is worse today than it has been. I am guessing that the medicine is just still in his system even though we have quit taking it, therefore he still has the rash. He is now on a different antibiotic and I am giving him benydryl too. I wish someone who knows would respond to your post.
Since his eyes weren't bloodshot or swollen, I let him recover from it on his own because antibiotics give him diarrhea and diaper rash, despite probiotics, and I don't even want to imagine holding him down for eye drops like three times a day. Over a period of four days, the goo subsided and by Saturday, it was gone. Only problem is, the eye goo seems to be replaced by a much wetter, aggravated cough and a fever.
Hi- I posted a few months ago and received great help from the doctor as well as other posters. I am hoping I can get further assistance, as my daughter's condition is still confusing me. My daughter is almost 3 years old, and has been suffering from serious constipation (presumably due to stool witholding resulting from an anal fissure) since she was 18 months old. Her GI has never felt anything other than abdominal x-rays were necessary for diagnosis/treatment.
That must be so uncomfortable. Do you think possibly diaper rash cream might help?
now, the medicine (he warned me) will give her the runs!, she won't eat for some days... or drink milk... and most likely will get a nasty diaper rash! =(((((( so, off to the yogurt department today... Besides that.... everything fine!..... *putting on sarcastic shirt* other than the fact that I'm so stinking sleep deprived (5 nights in a row), I got the infection and got the pink eye too!!! I guess, I can get over that.... =( as long as my little girl is fine, I'll be ok....
Also I don't experience really painful itchy severe yeast infections anymore. I advise you all to be tested for candida allergy. And use diaper rash cream on the cuts to soothe and heal them. Also avoid sugar. Best of luck.
I put on some mild cream actually made for baby diaper rash, helping a little, but has this happened to anyone else???
I broke out with this condition a few months ago and tried almost everything! The doctor's knew nothing & treated it as a yeast infection which it was not, they gave me a perscription creme with canesten & hydrocort but said not to use it too much because it will thin your skin. Fluconazole helped but the infection just came right back. So I suggested could it be diaper rash because it looked the same- blisters, red resh & cracking. They told me to use penatin diaper rash creme.
well, a few days ago i posted a topic about having what sounded like a diaper rash (kotex rash) because the vaginal area and buttocks a reae was very red and irritated and it hurt a lot. Well, thankfully that is almost gone, but i have noticed that on each side of the vagina (lips) towards the bottom, right next to the vaginal opening i have these two extremly painful sores(like craked skin) and i can barely even walk. They sting like alcohol trough a wound and itch a lot form time to time.
since then he has had a viral throat infection and strep so then we had reasons for the fevers. If I were you it sounds like he could have a periodic fever syndrome.I would take my son to a rhumetologist. They were the ones that ruled that out for my son as he was having 2 or 3 fever episode in a month. I am sorry that you are going down this road but please don't give up. There is someone out there that will help you. As for the magic number.
I purchased Ambrotose from them because of what my boss said helped his grandson who also had allergies, ear infections, and strep continually. I wasn't sure if it would work...and I *think* it does. We also give our daughters a basic multi-vitamin (the princess ones). Ambrotose is a powder of nutrients, some of which I had seen sighted in other studies (like the fuccodin and aloe vera). You can google Mannatech and Ambrotose and find their website, if you wish.
If so, then is she willing to be up all hours of the night with a screaming baby who either has colic, ear infections, stomach aches with vomiting and/or diarrhea, teething pains, diaper rash pains, fever, or whatever? Because that WILL happen, and probably almost every night on and off for the first two years. I was up for three hours in the middle of the night a couple of nights ago with my screaming, teething infant, and had to go to work the next day.
me again..been to the docs again he put me on 20days of keflex and gave me two different creams ..the first one a nystatin type cream didnt seem to help much but the second cream has helped tremendously..its called clobetasol propionate ointment .05% this seems to have worked alot by using morning and night..wearing boxer shorts only and during the day keeping triple antibiotic ointment on the fissure..hope this helps..finally getting some relief myself!!!
Hi! Well, there is a lot of women suffering from these little painful, uncomfortable things. I usually get them after shaving the area, it is like the skin gets irritated by the razor and it feels like a rash before they show. I do have very sensitive skin, can not use anything down there that contains alcohol or perfumes. So liquid soap and vitamin E lotion helps.
she has thrown up 4 times in the past 3 weeks and we know it is not the flu because I have a daycare and no one is catching this. She had a UTI and a upper respitory infection this past week and she is on an antibiotic so I thought this would take care of the problem but 5 days on the med. she is still doing this. Should I have the doctor do further tests on her?? I'm more concerned now because she hasnt been wanting to eat.
Meant to say, the other day I tried balmex diaper rash meds for a couple of hours and it seems to of helped. Could be another coincidence. And thanks for the soap suggestion, will try that also! For now it is hardly visible, seems to heal very quickly when conditions are favorable, but it takes no time to pop back up either. Good luck to everyone with this one...
I just figured that I do the regular home remedy of soaking and applying various creams ie. 1% hydrocortisone, vaseline, zinc oxide (desitin for diaper rash). DO NOT DO ANY OF THIS! I then read someone's home remedy for a bartolins cyst and applied that to my problem. STUPID, but at the time, that's what I assumed I had! So I applied a mixture of calamine lotion, tea tree oil, and witch hazel which caused my situation to flare up even worse!
Wow... My 2 1/2 year old girl has been complaining of back pain off and on for 2 months. She started vomitting this weekend (at night) and crying because she needed ice for her back. I took her to the doctor to find out she has a strept throat. She is being treated ... we will see if this stops the complaints of back pain. It is interesting to hear some of you say that your little ones acting as if the diaper is too tight.
There is an ointment called Calmoseptine ointment that is an excellent moisture barrier used for many skin irritations like cuts, scrapes, burns or diaper rash etc.. It has menthol in it and really helps with itching/burning (instantly) and helps to heal quickly. I have only found it online but it worked better than Neosporin, Anusol and many other treatments I tried. You might need to reapply it though when you go to the bathroom. Walgreens.com sells it for $7.99.
