This is how the Drs. tell if your child has strep and it shows the level of strep-antibodies in your child's system. Your child may show absolutely zero signs of STREP or illness but still have it. Also, peanut butter, dairy, wheat, asthma medications may set off behavior issues or OCD or exacerbate the effect of the strep reaction.
Avatar f tn If your daughter is in school or has exposure to children, she could have been exposed to Strep. Typically, children 3 and under do not get strep so that's why she has not had it before. My doctor said that in goes right through the body and can end of in the private parts. I sure hope you didn't jump to conclusions. Your poor ex-husband.
Avatar f tn These conditions are marked by sudden-onset obsessive-compulsive-type symptoms, and the condition occurs in the wake of a strep infection such as Scarlet Fever or so-called strep throat. If the strep infection is still present, treatment with antibiotics is necessary. If there is no cureent infection, treatment with antibiotics generally doesn't help, but the symptoms will wane.
Avatar n tn Hello, Due to the suddenness of appearance of rash along with no prior history of any rash,it can be due to a viral infection or an allergic reaction.Scarlet fever(strep infection with a rash) and other viral infections and allergic reaction due to contact dermatitis have to be ruled out.Apply calamine lotion on the rash and consult a pediatrician soon.Treatment for all is different and before prescribing any medicine in children ,it is important to confirm a diagnosis first. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn I just got the call from my doctor in which I was told I have GBS, group b strep and bacterial vaginosis, I have been suffering for about 6 months on different meds. I have 3 children and have never had this problem and never heard of it either. Help any info is great.
Avatar f tn Could the urinary infection or penicillin affect the test and is ten weeks long enough to test accuratly?I know 12 weeks is the usual time but do you think 10 weeks was good enough.
Avatar f tn Hi, the symptoms described could be due to an infection, most probably streptococcal or a viral infection. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain.
Avatar n tn Oh, well then I guess i shouldn't have posted that. Thank you for letting me know. I can't remember when my children first started getting strep throat and was just offering a possible suggestion. Guess it was wrong. Luck to the poster.
Avatar f tn my neighbor lady has just told me that she has a strep infection. However, the symptoms she has described are pretty scary. I'm wondering if some information is being held back. (She has been known to fib many times) There are 3 little children at home and I am concerned...she has a very, very bad sore throat, extreme headache and neck ache, dizziness, nausea, a rash covers almost her whole body. The worst symptom is 2 golf ball sized lumps at the point where her neck and spine meet.
Avatar n tn I may be completely wrong and just have strep throat or the early stages of pneumonia (some of my friends have both of those, and I've been around them in the last few days), but I figured I would ask on here. I'm not sure what the typical time frame is for symptoms to appear, and I read that gonorrhea of the throat is typically asymptomatic.

Avatar f tn If you have what my daughter had, which was a severe strep infection and Mono, the Mono can do liver and spleen damage. You may want to push your doc to do more testing or request a second opinion. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I’m 32 with 2 young children and was having an awful time right before this came on. It’s just weird that i never bad b strep while pregnant yet now I have high numbers.
Avatar f tn Not my 2nd and now tested positive for my 3rd however this time its in my urine like a urine infection so im on antibiotics (amoxocillan) now for 7 days. Its weird. Men children and woman can all have it.
Avatar f tn t have strep at the time he did have some kind of bacterial infection. Why does he keep getting sick if he is not on antibiotics?? Very concerned and scared about the bone pain that wakes him in the night. Dr. is dismissing any of my concerns and asking ME what tests I want him to do. Telling me that it's winter and kids get sick!! Any one else have similar experiences? Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn it's a Strep, not Staph, infection. I know that Amox. is used to treat strep infections... we'll see if it works. I'll get restested in a few weeks.
Avatar n tn Google periodic fever syndrome. It seems some kids do have this situation and they grow out of it around 10. I don't know if your daughter has this but it is worth looking into it. The Cleveland clinic is doing a lot of research on it. Is her doctor not giving you any ideas? Have they looked for an infection? I've been reading about strep lately and people typically only think of a sore throat with that but in truth, you can have strep anywhere in the body.
Avatar n tn m not sure that is what would of caused you to miscarry though. Strep b is a bacterial infection that can cause problems if left untreated when you deliver. I haven't heard it to cause any complications during the actual pregnancy but I could be wrong. What they do is when you go to deliever your baby they put antibiotics in your iv 4 hours before you give birth to prevent it going to the baby. As long as you get the antibiotics the chance of it passing is extremely slim.
10623623 tn?1414292089 Yesterday, I realized that I have strep throat. I feel terrible. My fever has been around 103, and my throat is almost swollen shut. Considering I was recently arrested for doctor shopping, you can imagine how much I do not want to go to a doctor. I have some amoxicillin. It would be nice to get a steroid shot or something, but I am way to terrified to see a physician. Most of them wouldn't see me anyway. In the past, I would use strep throat as am excuse to get Vicodin.
Avatar n tn Hi, This could be a bacterial skin infection like Impetigo or an allergic reaction. Impetigo is a superficial skin infection, caused by staphylococcus ("staph") and streptococcus ("strep") bacteria. Though it is more common in children it can be seen in adults. The non-bullous variety is the common form, caused by both staph and strep. It appears as small blisters or scabs, which then form yellow or honey-colored crusts. These often start around the nose and on the face.

Avatar m tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/group-b-strep/symptoms-causes/syc-20351729 If the doctor believe it requires treatment, a simple round of common antibiotics will be prescribed. You did not and could not have given this to her.
