Avatar m tn i currently take strattera , which has mild effects at best. however i am thinking about getting ritalin prescribed . i have a very good job where i am routinely drug tested via Urine and Hair. will ritalin casue a fasle positive drug test? half the internet sites say no the other half say yes.
Avatar m tn We saw how great the strattera worked for a while and the ritalin does nothing close to that- her math teacher concurs that she is spacey and less focused on the ritalin thus far. Right now I feel like I am having her take the ritalin for nothing, however we have a week to go before her Drs appt and I guess she needs to continue it til then. The ritalin dose started with 5mg in the am, then added a 5mg at lunch, then went to 10mg am and 10mg at lunch. I have no idea if this is a lot.
Avatar n tn My son has been on ritalin for 12 months he is now 6 and the last week he has just developed eye movements that i was concerned might be a tic. He is extremely anxious , especially when on his medication in strange unfamiliar settings but does quite well at school and has lots of friends. He has been out of routine of late with school holidays and 10 weeks ago had a increase in medication to 1 tab in the morning 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 at 3.30 pm.

311086 tn?1224728918 I started Strattera after being diagnosted with Adult ADHD (Severe) on the DSM-IV by my Psychologist. My MD (family doctor) has since confirmed it. He put me on 40mg / day (taken at around 11am every day, without food). For the entire first week, I was fine. I didn't really see any improvement, i'm still hyper, find it hard to concentrate, etc. He then told me that on Wednsday (10/1/2008) that I am to upgrade to 60mg per day. I took my dose on 10/1 and then on 10/2.
889551 tn?1416184483 Hi! I was diagnosed with ADD recently and I'm waiting to get back in to see my psychiatrist. My last office visit we spoke about the possible medications I could choose from if I completed ADD testing with another Psych. He mentioned Strattera (but he said he didn't feel that it worked), Adderall, and Ritalin. I'm currently on abilify and wellbutrin for depression and these meds, along with adderall and ritalin lower the seizure threshold.
Avatar n tn t seem to work for me, they make me extremely irritable and give me chest pains. Tried strattera but it made me extremely emotional, to the point of sobbing for no reason. My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms. Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD?
Avatar m tn only took it 5 days now I am discontinue it. My doc mentioned trying concerta or strattera. Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?
Avatar m tn ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.
Avatar f tn My six year old son started taking a pretty low dose of Ritalin - he's doing great, except he seems to become "whiney" for lack of a better term.. he is much more emotional and prone to tears. Does this sound normal? He's been on the medication for about 5 weeks.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. 702147 tn?1289832370 My daughter is 16 years old and has been taking Strattera since 3rd grade. I wondering if anyone else is exhibiting any of these issues with this medication after puberty. She is very depressed and has cut herself. I know as a teenager, you can go through a depression, but reading side effects Srattera can cause it. We are in counseling. We are also going to a Psychologist to discuss her medication, it doesn't seem to be helping her anymore.
Avatar f tn I have tried a holistic approach in my diet, life habits and petition God in prayer as well as different medications from time to time. I am very healthy except for this disorder, but was seeing a doctor for medication, Strattera when I went on medicaid. Does medicaid cover Stratterra, Vyvanse or Concerta and other ADHD or ADD medications?
Avatar m tn Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
Avatar m tn I recently got promoted to a position that requires a lot of stressful fast paced environment . I am not allowed to take Ritalin or any other of those drugs because my job will fire me. This promotion has been the worst thing I ever took. I make 10 grand more, I put up a good farce to get this promotion however my new co workers already see me as if I am incompetent. Just yesterday someone asked me to check on a message, I received thee adage and gave it to the person required.
Avatar f tn For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage.
Avatar f tn i was on ritalin when i was young. i had a hallucination once only b/c i didnt eat breakfast before taking my meds.
Avatar n tn Well, has my younger son got older and taller the symptoms and everything else got worse. When he was 7 years old, I started him on Strattera but it seemed that the Strattera made everything worse. This is when the explosive behavior started and I then pulled him off the medication. He done had EEG's done, MRI's, bloodwork and everything with all results coming back normal. Then he was diagnosed with having ADHD, ODD, Intermitent Explosive Disorder and Bipolar.
Avatar m tn My son is 11 yr old, has ADHD/ODDand IED and they also say border line asperger syndrom. He started off with strattera, then switch to stimulants ritalin, and vynasse. Stimulants was horrible for him became very violent. He was on strattera and rispedorol and all he did was wake up eat and sleep. The medication was effecting his motor skills, his reaction time was very slow, like his reaction in the game was horrible, and he had alot of twitching and tics...
Avatar n tn When psychostimulant medications, like Ritalin, are successful, there should be no sedating or 'drugged out' impact. While this might occur for a day or a few days, it should disappear. If not, either the medication is not the correct option, or the dose is not the best dose. Try to figure this out with the prescribing doctor. Strattera can be a good choice for children who do not respond well to a stimulant medication, or for children who cannot take Ritalin (e.g.
673186 tn?1225983925 the only problem was that the strattera made me really sick whenever i took it and it didnt help in anyway so my psychiatrist thought it best too try methylphenidate(ritalin). It helped alot and I have been on Focalin (Dexmethylphenidate-a isomer of ritalin that is a little more potent) for almost four months. For me I have to be extremely careful with what substances I take or am prescribed because of my extreme addictive personality.
Avatar n tn Is he taking 36mg plus 36 mg or 18mg plus 18mg?
1523516 tn?1330044257 When I went to see the MS Specialist in January, he gave me Ritalin for my memory/focus and it's also supposed to help with fatigue, giving me more energy. I am thinking it must take a while for it to kick in. After taking it in the mornings I feel a bit dizzy and "out of it" and then I feel better about an hour or two later. Still very fatigued and focus is about the same, a bit better I guess.
Avatar n tn we soon found out that stimulants seemed to make things worse for him, we went from ritalin to concerta to adderall to strattera. from the beginning, we have included weekly, sometimes daily therapy, and in the last three years intensive in home therapy. here we are and my son still gets suspended from school on a weekly basis for stealing, cursing, yelling and cursing at other students, and being as disruptive as he can be.
