i currently take strattera , which has mild effects at best. however i am thinking about getting ritalin prescribed . i have a very good job where i am routinely drug tested via Urine and Hair. will ritalin casue a fasle positive drug test? half the internet sites say no the other half say yes.
We saw how great the strattera worked for a while and the ritalin does nothing close to that- her math teacher concurs that she is spacey and less focused on the ritalin thus far. Right now I feel like I am having her take the ritalin for nothing, however we have a week to go before her Drs appt and I guess she needs to continue it til then.
The ritalin dose started with 5mg in the am, then added a 5mg at lunch, then went to 10mg am and 10mg at lunch. I have no idea if this is a lot.

Im a 34 year old female just diagnosed with ADD. my dr out me on strattera because of an existing heart problem. I started it 5 days ago. the 1st day i took it at 8am. by 12 i couldnt keep my head off my desk. and i killed my scalp with my letter opener. i felt like i had bugs all in my head. the next day i took it at 1pm. same thing. im taking it later at night so i can hopefully sleep through all of the "bugs". has anyone else had itching as a side effect?
t seem to work for me, they make me extremely irritable and give me chest pains. Tried strattera but it made me extremely emotional, to the point of sobbing for no reason. My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms.
Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD?
only took it 5 days now I am discontinue it. My doc mentioned trying concerta or strattera. Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?
ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.

I recently got promoted to a position that requires a lot of stressful fast paced environment . I am not allowed to take Ritalin or any other of those drugs because my job will fire me. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage.

Well, has my younger son got older and taller the symptoms and everything else got worse. When he was 7 years old, I started him on Strattera but it seemed that the Strattera made everything worse. When psychostimulant medications, like Ritalin, are successful, there should be no sedating or 'drugged out' impact. While this might occur for a day or a few days, it should disappear. we soon found out that stimulants seemed to make things worse for him, we went from ritalin to concerta to adderall to strattera. from the beginning, we have included weekly, sometimes daily therapy, and in the last three years intensive in home therapy. here we are and my son still gets suspended from school on a weekly basis for stealing, cursing, yelling and cursing at other students, and being as disruptive as he can be.
