ve been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy.
A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.

I have it extreamly badly, and after a disastor with Rittaline im now on Strattera (atomoxetine, which is not yet licenced in u.k.) is there any other adults out there that have been, like me, misdiagnosed for years because . .. when I was a child a.d.h.d hadent been recognised. Then when I was older it was only recognised in kids, and not in adults?
As he was grew up we tried different meds for short periods, but the adderall made his tics worse, the strattera did not do anything ( we recently just tried strattera agan for the recommended time and dosage), in the past 1.5 years he has been involved with pot (it helps his tics) and then moved on to meth. He said he was very focused on the meth and it did not bother his tics. I am completely puzzeled how adderall could have bothered his tics and on meth did not?????
Been on lexapro and adderall for about two years it has been much better then my last combo of wellbutren and litium. i have been off the adderall for a few months because i am a recovering addict and started well, always abused the adderall. I am suffering so bad with concentration and focus its affecting my work BAD... I am an over 35 Adult female with ADHD. I have been taking Strattera for several years. It wasn't until my aggressive behavior and anger was announced to me by my husband as being a problem that I sought help with counceling and with my primary care Doctor. The first thing my Doctor said to me was that Strattera was known to cause heightened aggression and mood swings. He also said that due to the fact that I am super-sensitive to any medication it could make it much worse. Is this possible?
she did diagnose me as having add but wanted to try strattera until i was off suboxone completely which i suppose i understand. she also said that maybe i should consider treatment for my anxiety even though i told her my anxiety most definitely stems from my add symptoms. she told me that if the strattera didn’t work that we can explore the options of stimulants. so i tried the strattera for a week and did not notice any benefits just side effects plus it’s very expensive.
15 yr old daughter was diag with adhd 2nd grade - although was family "joke" adhd long before. 1st on adderall with explosive behavior - had to try before could take straterra, insurance. Strattera was fine for sev yrs - although only limited imp - just enough to tolerate her. Problems with social interaction and her mouth - she's constantly argumentative and I believe ODD. After menstruation began, strattera appeared worthless.
ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.
I've been on strattera for two weeks and the only strong side effect I seem to have is that I get really tired or fatigued around 2:00pm.
Will this side effect subside over time? Is there anyway to lessen it?
I've tried other ADD medications however because they are stimulants I tend to get really agitated or even a little paranoid when I'm on them so I am hoping that Strattera works out ok. Are there any other non-stimulant ADD medications?
ve been prescribed 90mg of Adderall a day, Concerta 54mg (2 in AM and 2 after lunch), now Ritalin SR 20mg and take 2 tablets 3 times a day. And, I am addicted. I take 400 to 500mg of Ritalin a day and start having anxiety and panic attacks days before I run out, because I know how difficult the withdrawals are from not taking it. I've been to an addiction rehab center for it and spent 30 days there.
gave me Wellbutrin and it produced none of the side effects you mention except decreased cravings for caffeine and sweets. Our pharmacist said vyvanse is a lot like adderall; he said everyone seems to be using it who would have previously been on adderall. It is very trendy right now. But I do not think it would help with anxiety at all, and I would guess anxiety might be causing your heart rate to be rapid.
The Wellbutrin is a stimulating anti-depressant.
Adderall 10 mg = Vyvanse 30 mg, Adderall 20 mg = Vyvanse 50 mg, Adderall 30 mg = Vyvanse 70 mg. I always start lower than expected with a change to Vyvanse, as for about 10-15% that anticipated dose of Vyvanse proves too much. I don’t want folks on my watch to experience 10% problems."

So, what you are saying is that the most effective way to treat ADHD would be to use medicines like Strattera, Ritalin etc.... and how safe are these drugs?
Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
t been on medicine for it since college. Starts out with my former medicine, strattera, but when I would take it I felt my heart was out of control and my blood pressure went up. Now on wellbutrin for about a week but I feel foggy and it is causing worse ibs. Not sure if that side effect will go away but giving it a try. My question is, if anyone can answer, why was I able to take strattera as a child with 0 side effects and then high heart rate etc now.
I am aware such a side effect is not included in the literature for Ritalin (though it is mentioned for other stimulants such as adderall) and the few general practitioners that I have discussed this with have been skeptical, however, my libido is much stronger now that I am off the medication.
I am now 31 and while my libido is much better now, unfortunately my mental strength is not what it was when I was taking Ritalin.
Straterra is an anti-depressant type of medication. They use it for adhd and to stabilize behaviors/moods with children and adults. Though its rate of success isn't as high in children as adults it does work with some. Your son is too young for them to classify him as bi-polar, but ODD with the mood swings sounds more like that is the diagnosis you might be looking at, I am not a doctor, but you may want to ask.
